About the home
Located 50 miles north of Inverness, Lairg is central for touring the beautiful Highlands. The Gallery was built in 1868 and formed part of the main sorting office for the Highlands, now converted into a lovely cottage with oil central heating and all mod cons, as well as period features, its the ideal home from home.
The East and West coast are 20 to 30 mins by car. The area includes many Golf courses within 30 mins drive, fishing in the rivers and on Loch Shin, and lots of hilll walks and outdoor activities. An ideal central location for visiting and exploring all the Highlands have to offer with beaches, castles and places of interest to visit in the Highlands. Ideal for touring, walking and fishing.
Beautiful Dunrobin Castle with its Falconry display home of the Earl of Sutherland is half an hours drive away, and the Glenmorangie distillary is 20 miles away at Tain.

The cottage has a spacious main bedroom with a king size bed . The second bedroom is a good size, has two single beds and views over the Loch. There is plenty of wardrobe space in both bedrooms. The modern bathroom has bath and a walk in shower.
Downstairs consists of a porch with tumble dryer, washing machine,and small freezer. A well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, cooker and microwave , a step up to a lovely separate dining room with beams, inglenook fireplace with log effect electric fire and wood floor. On the first floor there is a lovely light lounge with picture window and lovely views over Loch Shin, along the upper landing are two good size bedrooms one with loch views both have fitted wardrobes and the bathroom has bath and walk in shower.
Outside there is a garden and a large decking area which is raised and overlooks Loch Shin.

The Gallery has a garden to the rear with plants, shrubs, and a decking area which overlooks little Loch Shin. The house adjoining The Gallery has access on foot through the garden.
Shin Falls where the salmon leap and visitor centre and restaurant is 4 miles away in Glen Achney. Lairg has a pub, chemist and small supermarket, everything you could want for the ideal place to tour the Highlands.
Further details
Flexible (midweek bookings) are not available during high season (July and August ) except at the discretion of the owner. Short breaks of 3/4 days welcome out of peak season. Discount available for late bookings, please enquire. Please note the weekly rental is the same for one to four guests unless a discount is discussed and appliied for less occupancy during quiet periods.
Conditions
25% deposit required with booking, refundable if cancellation received 4 weeks before arrival.
A security deposit of £50 is required which will be refunded within two weeks of your stay (after property inspection). Adults and children over 5 years only.

Fishing on Loch Shin 50 metres from the house or just getting away from it all, chilling and relaxing.
This is a beautiful area of the country with many places of interest just a short drive away.
The Lairg area
Lairg itself offers the following:
Bank, post office, doctors, church, small supermarket, visitor centre /tourist information nd local Inn which serves meals.
Lairg hosts the main sheep sales for the Highlands every August. Gala week is in July and many of the local areas each have their own Gala or Highland games throughout the summer.
Beautiful Dunrobin castle and gardens 30 mins drive away have a falconry display each day during the summer, see the salmon leaping up Shin falls in Glen Achney 3 miles away where there is a visitor centre, excellent daytime restaurant, a children's play area, and a Harrods in the Highlands souvenir shop.
Golspie, Bonar Bridge, Royal Dornoch all have excellent golf courses and are between 20 to 30 mins drive.
