About the home

The Garden Studio entered through the glass patio doors from the garden has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining area with delightful views back into the garden. An imposing arch way leads into the lounge with its comfortable furniture, a log burner and a front door for easy access to the village. At the other end of this delightful room and under the original wooden beams is the sleeping area. With clever design and furniture placement, although actually one large room, this feels like 2 separate areas. The sleeping area has a double bed, chest of drawers and a wardrobe for all your storage.

A shower room leads off this end of the room, with a large fully tiled Italian walk in shower with plenty of storage under the vanity unit. It also has a large king size double bed, capable of being transformed into 2 single beds, to suit all requirements.

The apartment also includes access to the communal garden. The garden contains x2 BBQ areas, 4 terraces, a grassy lawn and to top it all off a solar heated swimming pool with decked area. All of this is nestled within the original medieval stone walls of our courtyard giving secluded privacy from the outside world.

With arguably the most spectacular façade in the village, Neuf Rue de Cancans really is a gem nestled within the cobbled streets of a village voted 'One of Frances Prettiest'. The property offers visitors a relaxed, peaceful and historic holiday experience. During loving renovation the house unveiled many historic secrets associated with the Cathars. With 15 authentic stone arches scattered throughout the property and various 12th century paintings you are sure to feel you have taken a step back in time! However, with all mod cons and a comfortable feel to the living accommodation in the self catering gite, it is history at its best.

The property is one of the few houses within the village walls to have a garden and a solar heated pool - a little piece of paradise can be found out here too. With its lawn, 2 BBQ areas and 4 terraces al fresco dining is a must. A solar heated pool and raised deck area, boule court plus a 2 storey children's play house nestled in the shade. Imagine the sun bouncing off the medieval walls & the breeze blowing through the cherry trees - you are sure to find leaving difficult!

Further details

Whilst the Garden Studio is perfect for less mobile people there is no wheelchair access into the shower room. The rest of the studio has wheelchair access both in and out and throughout the rest of the property.

A cot and put you up bed are available at a small extra cost.

Although we accept smokers it is no smoking inside the property.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

With consistent temperatures in the mid 20s from May to September this part of Southern France has something to offer everyone, with its colourful landscape which changes dramatically through the seasons.

Lagrasse is a great base for exploring local history and architecture - with Narbonne’s fine medieval buildings and Roman beginnings, the great medieval walled Cité of Carcassonne, Cistercian Abbeys, Cathar Castles from the Albigensian crusades of the early 13th century on hilltops everywhere, fortified cathedrals at Beziers and Capestang and the exciting cosmopolitan southern cities of Toulouse, Montpellier, Perpignan and Albi - all these are within easy reach.

The Lagrasse area

The village has something for everyone - bars, restaurants, local artisan shops, boulangerie & once a month in summer, the local 'brocante'. Live bands play in the 8th century Abbey, classical concerts in the church & a world famous music festival during July, all lively & fun, a typically French atmosphere is guaranteed!

With village facilities including tennis courts, football & boules pitches only 2 minutes walk away & sailing & windsurfing a 30 minute drive away, there is also something to occupy the more sporty!! Skiing is only 2 hours away too. For those wanting a truly relaxing French village experience there is the pretty beach on the Orbieu river which is only a stones throw away through the cobbled streets. Superb fishing is also found on this river & with the Canal de Midi close by, tranquil boat trips are a must. The local market in the village offers superb local product every Saturday.

“Highly Recommended” We have recently returned from 1 weeks holiday staying in the Garden Studio in Lagrasse. Firstly, we had such a warm welcome from Guy & Claire (the owners) we felt immediately relaxed and at home. The accomodation was tastefully furnished and comfortable, a 12th century restoration with the benefits of modern conveniences. The standard of the accomodation for a rental was very high. The village itself was quaint with a few shops and restaurants, the bakers was opened every day with wonderful french bread, cakes and pastries. Ate out in Lagrasse a couple of times and thought meals fairly priced and standard of food good - other occasions ate in as the kitchen is fully equipped and it was nice to sit in the garden with a bottle of wine (local of course). Visited Carcassone, french market, Narbonne, beaches near Narbonne, La Franqui further afield and a beach near Beziers which was very nice also went to Toulouse. Pretty sure there was a lot more to explore perhaps next time. Would definately recommend - was sorry that the holiday came to an end.
