Villa Castelo - meaning 'castle' in Portuguese (its size certainly lives up to this descrption - is an exquisitely furnished four bedroom villa with stunning views over the town of Lagos and to the sea. It has a large pool, SKY TV, free wi-fi, bbq and is one of the largest villas available within walking distance of the town, beaches and marina of Lagos.

Villa Castelo is furnished to an exceptional standard to be a real home from home. Everything from the super sized flat screen TV in the living room to the quality of the linens exudes quality, making it an ideal holiday home for the discerning holiday making family. The villa is accessed via an impressive marble entrance hall with one bedroom suite on the ground floor (making it ideal for the less able) and three bedrooms on the first floor - and bathrooms to just die for!!! The master suite is particularly impressive as it has a very large en suite bathroom, sitting area and huge balcony with sun loungers to enjoy the view over the town and to the sea.

Villa Castelo is situated on a large area, with larger than average swimming pool, plenty of terraces and garden areas and superb dining/BBQ facilities. Additional terraces and the size of the villa provide the opportunity for families to be together but have their own space and, being just a short walk from the centre of town (the nearest supermarket is less than two minutes' walk) it is ideal for families with older children who want to 'do their own' thing.

The Algarve / West Algarve region

The Western Algarve is a sun lover's delight - 300 days of sunshine per year, and during the hottest months, a light breeze to stop it getting too hot. There are lots of towns and villages around which offer hundreds of restaurants, night life etc but with the capacity still to find the 'real Portugal' both along the coast and a couple of minutes' inland

The Lagos / Central Lagos area

Lagos itself offers culture, history (it is an old walled town and a delight to walk around), nightlife and a whole host of beaches and water sports in its area. The bustling but traditional resort town of Luz is just five minutes away and Boavista championship golf course with its health club/spa, tennis etc is nearby (guests receive a unique 25% discount off green fees whilst staying at the villa). Water sports abound all along the coast, there is good walking country nearby and lots of activities for children (and their parents!). As such, Lagos is the ideal location for those wanting a quiet relaxing holiday or an activity based holiday - or a bit of both!

Lagos is located just a 50 minute (easy motorway drive) from Faro which is served by most scheduled and budget airlines. For those travelling from further afield, Lisbon is just 2-2.5 hours away.

“Great Villa and very good Lagos restaurants” The on line service we received from Caroline was great and she helped us with any queries we had during our stay. The Villa was much bigger than expected having seen the online pictures. The accommodation was very good and it allows for families or groups to make best use of the facilities. The walk into town involves a short cut using a single file rough path down a small hillside, which makes the time to get into town much quicker (10/15 minutes). A longer route is available (adds 5 minutes) and involves a long flight of steps down to the local Lidl store, which is at the beginning of the main road into Lagos. The shortcut is very useful so long as everyone in the group is able to negotiate the unmade path. As the return to the Villa is back up the hill it takes 5 minutes longer but is no problem. We enjoyed the walk and once in town we were surprised by the number of restaurants around the town square and standard of food was superb. All of our party had a great time and would be happy to come back again sometime.

“At last! The perfect Lagos villa....” After many holidays in Lagos we know the area well and as we have teenagers need a centrally located property near to all the action for them, but with peace and quiet for us. This lovely villa ticks all the boxes - big airy rooms, brilliantly equipped kitchen (we like to cook), a nice-sized pool, big barbeque, wifi, comfortable beds, huge telly with full sky package (so husband could watch the test match) and brilliantly situated on a hill in a posh residential area with very few houses nearby. Also very quiet air con - which we needed in the second week as it was boiling. There were 4 enormous supermarkets about 2 minutes drive away -and you could easily walk into town from the villa. Another real asset was Caroline - her restaurant and beach recommendations were spot on, and we discovered lots of places we had never been to before. She also sorted out any problems very quickly and was incredibly efficient and helpful. A couple of things to bear in mind - the bunk room is quite small and the two 16 year olds in the party did moan a bit about the size/comfort of the beds - however it didn't stop them sleeping in till midday! The downstairs bedroom is lovely - but all the air con units are on the wall outside it and are quite noisy - so if you were in that room and someone else had their aircon on you would have to run yours too. But overall this is a really fantastic option for a group esp with older children.

“Unbeleivieably, wonderfully,amazing Villa” We had THE most wonderful holiday. The Villa is better than the photos (if that is possible) There are supermarkets within 10 minutes walk of the Villa and a lovley coffee shop about 15mins walk. For something alitle bit special to eat I would recommend O'Arista. Take a right turn out of the villa, walk down the hill and take a left onto the main road. cross at Lidl and head towards the marina. take a right turn after the super market Pingo and head towards the town center. The restaurant is on the right. Its only a small front but inside is lovely. Food is fabulous and there is live entertainment. We went on a Friday night and there was a couple singing a great mix of old and new songs.

What a villa. So convenient, and absolutely huge - it was great for the family to be able to 'do their own thing' yet still be together. The boys loved the TVs in the various rooms! Gerry and Julie, Dublin

We could not have stayed in a better villa - definitely the best we have had in ten years visiting the Algarve. It had absolutely everything we could have wished for and more, and to be able to walk to town in the evenings was a real bonus (it has always been difficulty finding a large villa with pool within walking distance of Lagos).
