We love this apartment but just don't get to use it enough. Porto de Mos is a very up scale development above cliffs and the famous sandy Porto de Mos beach which is just 5 minutes walk away.
The apartment is ideal for families with children of all ages. It is ground floor with easy access to the pool but with a degree of privacy. Parents can keep an eye on the children who can harmlessly roam the gardens and if you have a toddler, the terrace is easily secured to make a good sized play area - and peace of mind for you.
It has two bedrooms, the second has two twin beds and the lounge has two comfortable sofa beds - good for up to two additional children or maybe a young adult.
Out of school holiday time couples will find this an ideal base for the cultured highlights of Lagos and the Western Algarve providing an elegant retreat if you just want to relax in peaceful and luxurious surroundings.

One of the best quality apartments on the whole Algarve - we checked a lot! Ideally placed for exploring the Western Algarve.

You can see the sun shining off the Atlantic in the morning from the master bedroom terrace but just to be clear - it's really an apartment with views of the delightful gardens and a short walk to the beach rather than one where you can sit all day gazing out to sea.
English lady property manager based in Lagos is on call as needed.

A car is highly recommended as Intermarche supermarket is only 3 minutes by car but a bit of a walk. Also the car park at the foot of the old town walls of Lagos is only 5 minutes drive away.
The famous Boavista golf course and development is less than 5 minutes drive away.
The Algarve region
Really Lagos and the beach at Porto de Mos can keep you entertained for a full two weeks but a bit of exploring will yield the end of Europe over looking the Atlantic at Sagres and beyond to Cape St Vincent, the very scenic cork growing hills of Monchique and the Moorish hill town of Silves.
If you want to go a bit more touristic, then as you move eastwards along the coast you can visit the lovely fishing villages of Ferragudo and Alvor and then really start to hit the large resorts of Albufeira, Vilamoura and so on. There's golf of course and it's even rumoured that Formula 1 is coming to the race circuit at Portimao just up the road from Lagos. We'll see.
Lagos is still very much a Portuguese town with all year round activity due to its resident Portuguese population. It has a very interesting old town inside the mediaeval walls with cobbled streets, museums and a gallery as well as many good but reasonably priced restaurants.
It has an active modern marina, a zoo just outside town and, perhaps most famously, those world renowned beaches with arches and grottoes beneath the cliffs. There are boat trips to take you to the more remote beaches or to see the dolphins.

I can imagine that a visit in February rather than April through to October does make the environment less than charming - Bolton is not so wonderful then either! However, all guests who have stayed in the warmer, sunnier months have found the gardens and the small size of the apartment building to be quite charming. We have high standards ourselves and find sitting in the sub tropical garden quite delightful. As mentioned in the advertisement for Casa Clara you really do need a car for trips to the supermarket and Lagos town but the beach is a short walk away. I think we will not let the apartment again in the winter months - it's not ideal holiday time and the low rent hardly covers the cost of laundary and cleaning.

"Another great holiday at Casa Clar"

"Excellent stay, really clean and good facilities."
We've stayed in a few other nearby apartments before in similar complex. This is first visit to Casa Clara and we hope to come back! The apartment is spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable. It contains everything you need for a family with 2 kids, who loved the pool and easily made friends with other guests. It's an easy 10 minute walk to Porto De Mos beach. The owners were very accommodating, helpful and friendly. All together a lovely and relaxing place to stay. Thanks!

"Excellent spacious apartment, ideal for families- either staying put or as a touring base."
The apartment is of a very high standard with very spacious living accomodation and patio area which was a huge advantage with two young children. The bedrooms were lovely with the 100% cotton linen which is a rarity. The pool and gardens are perfectly kept and its only a 5 minute walk to the excellent beach. The owner and agent were extremely easy to deal with and there was no fuss.
We went along the west coast to other beaches, Burgau, over to Sagres and up to Boderia and Amado beside Carrpateria which are all very accessible and well worth going to as there is no development up the west coast. Would recommend a visit to Pedralva for a piazza if you are going that direction. All in all a great 10 days.

"Fantastic Oct half term"
This holiday was a joy from start to finish, dealing with the owners was a pleasure and Doreen was first class. She even came to meet us from McDonalds to take us to the apartment as we'd (stupidly) forgotten the instructions !
The first thing which struck us was, what a beautiful apartment and setting. It's quiet and close to the beach with a large patio which lets you enjoy the sunshine for most of the day. Having breakfast on the patio basking in the sunshine was a particular treat !
My partner had visited Portugal several times, but for me it was a first and after touring around a little, sightseeing, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
We were lucky enough to be blessed with gorgeous weather, sunny everyday but one (the last day) and with some beautiful beaches to visit, it was ideal.
The apartment caters for your every need and we enjoyed the flexibility of being close to Lagos but in the nice suburbs of Porto de Mos, with 2 restaurants within walking distance.
I would definitely recommend staying here and would like to return soon.

"Our holiday to Casa Clara"
Booked the holiday online, communication and dealings with owners has been a pleasure. The rep locally was very good also, met us and was responsive to any questions we had. The apartment itself is perfect for a family or couple, it's a lovely place but not over crowded with items that "little ones" might break, so everyone can relax. Pool was super, kids spent so much time in there, getting them out was the only challenge. Quite a new complex so a little tricky to find at first, but a lovely location and the beach was one of the best I have seen. It also had a couple of nice restaruants that we had a few lovely evening meals at with a beautiful view of the sea. Lagos town, the old part, is wonderful day and night.

"Home away from home - great service"
We stayed in Casa Clara with our son (3 years old). He loved the swimmingpool. We loved our breakfast on the patio, the lovely garden and the ambiance. The pictures on the internet show a realistic image of what you get. Large kitchen, large bedrooms, 2 bath rooms, all very nice and also very clean. The beach is a short stroll away, unfortunatly the pavement stops suddenly. You need a car for the shops and visiting Lagos, takes about 5 minutes. Doreen of Lloyd Properties makes sure you have a great welcome, clean towels and linen and can always be reached for questions. Even for a new frying pan.....
