Situated on the top floor of a former apart hotel along the main avenue in Lagos town. Balcony overlooks the lively Marina de Lagos with it's cosmopolitan restaurants bars and cafes. Just behind the Marina lies the spectacular white sands of Meia Praia beach. Easy walk to all supermarkets, banks, shopping and other amenities. A choice of four golf courses nearby make it is a golfer's dream. The 5th century walled town of Lagos has many historic buildings (including some dating back to Roman times) to explore. Rent a kayak and paddle around the grottoes and sea caves, or if you're feeling really adventurous try sky diving at Lagos Aerodrome. If it all becomes too much you can always just relax and watch the world go by over a glass of wine on the balcony.

The Algarve / West Algarve region

The Lagos / Marina area
BEACHES:Meia Praia beach 800m. Restaurants and bars 200m. Supermarkets 400m. Historic old town 800m. Bus and train stations 300m. Banks on ground floor of main building. There is a host of exciting sporting opportunities nearby including: mountain biking, off road dune buggy hire, horse riding, diving and snorkeling, big game fishing, paragliding, sailing, surfing, water skiing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and tennis. Microlight flights and parachute jumping from local airstrip. It is also an excellent location for bird watchers, especially during spring and autumn migration. Exciting boat trips can be made from Lagos to the surrounding transparent waters for dolphin watching and grotto trips, which explore the spectacular rock formations, caves and coves in typical Portuguese fisherman’s boats.
HISTORIC OLD TOWN LAGOSstill retains 5th century walls. Roman ruins still visible. Numerous churches and historic buildings. Europe's oldest slave market which is now an art gallery. There is a fresh market on the 1st Saturday of the month in Lagos, a farmers market (every Saturday) and a daily fresh fish market.
GOLF: Boavista 10 min drive, Palmares 5 min drive, Parque da Floresta 20 min drive, Penina 20 mins drive.

A liittle gem!!! Don't let the "budget accomadation" fool you. This place has the best views in town. My parents booked at the nearby Marina Rio hotel (not cheap) and got a room looking at apartment block at the back of the hotel. They spent the time hanging out at our place enjoying the sunny balcony. We went in mid-August and it was hot outside. There is no a/c in apartment but this wasn't a problem as the sea breeze keept the place cool and its on the 4th floor. We rented a car for the week at Faro airport (£110 for a ford Focus) parking outside was generally not a problem but once or twice we had to park a block away when it got busy in the afternoons. I would also recommend making a trip out to the cliffs of Sagres to the west of Lagos. The sunset is amazing there. All in all we had a great time.
