About the home

This spacious villa has 3 large double bedrooms all of which have their own private shower and toilet.
Two of the bedrooms have their own private balcony where you can view the beautiful sweeping views of the outstanding countryside.
The villa has been designed and built to stay naturally cool inside during the hot summer months. Outside the two balconies create shade should you wish to have a rest from the long sunny days.The BBQ area is loacted under one of the balcanies affording a cool area to cook your locally caught fish. The Villa's large pool gives the final ingredients for the perfect outside environment.
The villa is situated at the top of the old village of Almadena which has a small town square fronted by one cafe and one bar which also serves food. The village also offers 2 other bars, another small cafe and a small village shop for every day foods.This quaint village has successfully married the old traditional way of living with the new.
Riding centres nearby offer inexpensive packages for all ages and levels of skill.
For sailors, Largos Marina approximatley 6km away has the best facilities of any Portuguese marina. You can also rent dinghies, wind surfers or go water-skiing from the beaches at Praia da Luz and Meia Praia. For surfers, the rugged west coast beaches, with their long Atlantic rollers, are an irresistible target only 20mins away.The water around the Cape St. Vincent peninsula are among the best in Europe for Big-game fishing. Magnificent marlin, swordfish, tuna and shark can all be found here. Well-equipped boats are available from Lagos Marina. Or try your hand at line fishing from the cliffs or rocky outcrops. Numerous golf courses are close by the nearest being Boavista (3km)and Park da Floresta (3km).

The Villa has 3 double bedrooms. each one has shower and toilet en-suite. One room has two 4ft beds,another room has a kingsize bed and the third room has a standard double bed. there is also the addition of a single futon which can be moved into any room and the lounge settee fold out to a large double bed, The rooms are all very spacious.
For child safety and peace of mind we have an optional Stair gate . We have also had a a secure safety fence placed around the pool which can be easily and simply removed by families with older children .

Although smoking is not permitted inside there are plenty of seating areas outside were smokiing is permitted

The Algarve / West Algarve region

Almadena is a small quaint village which is set in national trust land. It has beautiful calm surroundings.
The climate is sunny and warm from May until October. there are many historical sites to visit and explore.
You are centrally located for the calm southern coast at Lagos ( meia priar), Praia da Luz, Bergau or Solema and also you are only 20mins from the dramatic scenery of the West coast offering the surf and it has many surf schools.Sagres (the end of the world) is only a 25min drive away.The area is generally quieter and more laid back than the larger resorts and affords many restaurants serving loacl dishes made with local produce giving a gastronomical delight at very affordable prices.For night life you can venture into Lagos where you will find Bars and many Restaurants.

Fly to Faro airpot which is approximatley 2-3 hours from U.K. Almadena is easily reached from the motorway appprox 90km from Faro airport and less than 10 minutes from the mortorway exit. Details instructions will be given prior to holiday departure.

Dear Trisha and Les.
We wanted to write and express our heart felt thanks and appreciation for a really superb and enjoyable stay at your villa. We felt so privileged to stay in such a beautiful and prestigious villa. Right from the moment we walked into through the front door we were amazed at how well kitted out and decorated it was. It certainly lived up to its name “Villa Serena”. The peace and tranquility was a great joy and contrast to our busy lives at home!
Our days were broken into two. In the mornings we visited local beaches including Praia Do Camillo (Lagos), Praia do Salama, Praia do Almedena, Praia do Burgau and Praia do Zavil. Our favourite was Praia Do Camillo. The afternoons we spent in the lovely pool and on the patio. Every evening we enjoyed using the BBQ facilities and watching the sunset.
You will be glad to know we had no breakages during our stay. We will post the villa keys to you on Tuesday next week after the Bank Holiday Monday and look forward to receiving the return of our deposit in due course.
We would love to return to the villa in the near future so will no doubt be in contact again.
