A stylish and comfortable terraced property, with air conditioning, set in a small, countryside condominium called Vale da Ribeira ('VDR'). VDR sits in approximately 75 acres of farmland between hills and valleys so the view from the terrace across open countryside and down to the Alvor Estuary is simply stunning. The house is privately owned by a family who take pride in offering a home from home experience to guests with luxury furnishings and fully fitted kitchen and bathroom facilities. Set into the side of a little hill the property's front door is at first floor level leading to a large sitting room, kitchen, utility room and cloakroom with loo and sink. Accessed from the sitting room through glass doors are two roof terraces with dining furniture and fabulous views. Downstairs are two bedrooms, both with en suites and French doors out to small private patios which, in turn, lead out onto the communal gardens. All windows and external doors have lockable shutters. Parking to the front of the property is off street and at first floor (entrance) level.

Within a short minute's stroll is a large communal pool. A little waterfall runs down into a children's paddling pool area making VDR perfect for families. At the highest point of the village is a pergola with seating - a perfect place to relax and soak up the views of the surrounding countryside. Extensive, landscaped gardens offer plenty of space to relax and many guests comment on how easy it is to slip into their holiday in such peaceful surroundings.

The Algarve region

Lagos

Magnified with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, Vale da Ribeira is a very beautiful and peaceful village. Completed in 2007 it has been a huge success with holidaymakers, many of whom return year on year. While the village is conveniently located near the EN125 road, properties are set well back on elevated grounds, allowing residents and guests to enjoy peace and quiet among olive, orange and almond trees as well as other local flora. This is a year round destination - winter sun, excellent walking and bird watching, spring flowers in abundance, summer beaches and warm sunshine. The fantastically beautiful coastline and glorious hills inland are all within easy driving distance. The beaches in the Western Algarve are among the most beautiful and least crowded in Europe. There are lots of sheltered coves along the South Coast and Vale da Ribeira is very close to the famous Meia Praia beach which is the longest in the area stretching from Lagos up to the Alvor Estuary. Most beaches are easy to park at, some (for example Luz and Burgau) tend to be a little more popular and only a short walk is involved. Nearly all have some form of beach bar or restaurant. Get the map out and explore â?? there is so much to see and sometimes you might come across a beach that you share with only a few people. The nearby village of Odiaxere (pronounced 'Odiash') has at least 3 'mini Mercados' so there's no need to go to the big supermarket in Lagos. One shop is on the main EN125 and the other 2 shops are in the square and streets to the right (north) of the main road. There are more supermarkets in Lagos and Portimao. Lagos has a whole range of restaurants and reportedly has a good night life. You'll find the main banks, pharmacies and touristy shops here but it is well worth a visit. There is a restaurant, which has always been known to be reasonably priced, within a few minutes drive or a slightly longer walk if you fancy it! It is called the Casseiro and is about 1km from Vale da Ribeira towards Arao. In Odiaxere itself there are at least 3 restaurants on the main road - Cacto (can be a little pricey), Bon Gusto and Pizza Caf�© (which has a take away service). There is another pizza restaurant on the EN125 toward Portimao, about 3-4 kms from Vale da Ribeira in a large garden centre. Meia Praia, the nearest beach, has a beach side restaurant (Gaviota Branca) and quite a few people enjoy breakfast there. Finally, Palmares Golf Club (there are many signs around for the course) has a restaurant/snack bar with fantastic views along the coast and it is open to non golfers. Golfers are ideally placed as some of the best courses in the Algarve are within a short drive including Penina, Palmares, Boa Vista and Parque do Floresta. Within 10 minutes is Algarve's famous Motorpark (Autodromo International Algarve) near Portimao with its racing school, driving experiences, events and activities.

"Perfect for a low-key family holiday"

Our holiday at Vale da Ribeira was everything we had hoped for and more. The house itself met expectations in every way, and the small development was very well maintained, and was really the perfect setting for a relaxing family holiday. Although there are no amenities within walking distance, the local village of Odiaxere as well as nearby Lagos had everything you could need, and were just a very short drive away. With regards to the booking process, Georgie at Peartree Properties was so helpful and friendly. And while we were there, Sean, the local property manager, made sure that we had everything we needed for a great stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a low-key holiday in a beautiful setting, with professional service from start to finish.
