'Villa Andorinha', is a brand new villa in the Alma Verde development which has recently been nominated amongst the top 5 Portuguese villas/houses in the Daily Telegraph’s Overseas Property Awards. Villa Andorinha has been chosen to feature in the "Shires magazines" as one of the top 10 European villas for 2007.
The villa is ideal for families with children of all ages with the heated pool having 8m² of shallow area (50cm) at one end to allow toddlers to enjoy the pool.
Fantastic blue flagged beaches and 2 golf courses are within easy reach by car (5 minutes). The historical towns of Lagos and Sagres are only a 15 minute drive away.
The villa is furnished to very high standards and modern taste. It has a spacious open-plan living area leading out onto the patio with barbecue facilities and pool terrace with sunloungers. A large roof terrace allows you to enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding hills.

The Algarve region
The Western Algarve is a very beautiful and relatively unspoilt part of the Algarve which makes it very peaceful and great for walking or cycling. There are lots of sandy beaches to be found, some more popular and some that are so secluded that only local knowledge or a chance find will take you there.
The weather is your typical blue sky, bright sunshine weather which can start from the end of February onwards although you could never call it particularly cold during the day at any time of the year. The 2007 summer continued right on into December with temperatures up in the early 20's - perfect for winter summer holidays or golfing getaways.
There is normally a light breeze in the Western Algarve, which takes away the heat, and during the summer the evenings are still really warm.
Lagos / Burgau area
AlmaVerde
The village itself has a Wellness Centre which offers a range of treatments and therapies that can be booked. For 2008 they are also offering some package deals for those who want a week of pampering. There are all sorts of therapies to offer and the management team will let you know well in advance of the pricing, etc. There is also a juice and sandwich bar in this Centre who can make up fresh sandwiches and snacks.
Also on the village are floodlit tennis courts and all the equipment can be hired from the management company at the reception office.
Golf
Boa Vista & Parc da Floresta are both within 5 minutes and it may be possible to get a discount on fees if you book through the management company at AlmaVerde. Other courses close by are Palmares, Alto and Penina.
Burgau
A really lovely little fishing village with a sandy beach under a 5 minute drive from the villa. There is a beach bar / restaurant and a cafe which does fantastic cooked breakfasts!
Lagos
Lagos is about 10 mins by car and it has everything you would want from a town. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the centre of Lagos and on certain days there is a market. Lagos has a marina and another attraction is the very long beach of Meia Praia where you can hire pedalos, go water skiing, banana boating and other water sport activities.
Restaurants
Although there are no restaurants within walking distance at the moment there are some nearby. Apart from Burgau there are 3 restaurants in Salema, 10 mins away, (one highly recommended by locals) and lots in Lagos. The management team can put you in contact with a private catering company if you wanted to eat in but have the luxury of food being prepared for you.
Family Activities
Apart from the beaches there are water parks nearby (Splash & Slide) and you can take the glass bottomed boat for a tour of the area. About 5 mins down the road is a riding school and if you wanted to go biking we can arrange for bikes to be available for you at the villa.

How to get there
Faro airport is approximately 50 minutes drive from the property and airlines such as Monarch, EasyJet, BA and TAP Portugal provide flights.
We have a organised an all inclusive discounted price with our recommended car hire company LagoRent who are based in Lagos. LagoRent have a small kiosk at the airport where you will sign all the necessary documents, etc, on your first visit - for any future visit you will be told the plate of your car and where it is found, meaning you have the privilege of walking off the plane and into the car.....as a frequent flyer I cannot recommend this more!
Directions from the airport to the villa are simple - follow the A22 toward Lagos and take the exit at Junction1 (signposted Vila do Bispo & Lagos). From here take the EN125 toward Vila do Bispo and drive into AlmaVerde Village at the Burgau traffic lights.

N.B. The weekly rental price is for a party of 8, for more than 8 individuals there is a £50 per person per week surchage.
Pool heating is an optional extra, available all year and charged at £110 per week.
A welcome pack of basic provisions can be provided for your arrival and is payable directly to the management team on site - the cost is roughly 25 - 30 euros.
High chairs and cot beds can be provided by the on site management team and is charged at 25 euros per week. This is also payable directly to the management team on site.
Conditions
25% of the full rental amount is due immediately in order to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the booking. At this time a £200 deposit covering any breakages or damages is also due - this amount is refundable and returned within 28 days of your return after we have received the full check out report from the management team. Even though we receive a check out report we do ask that renters please let us or the management team know of any breakages that may happen during your stay.
