Lagos / Fozdaria area

Just a few minutes along an endearingly quaint track and you can be part of the bustling Moorish town of Lagos with its maritime history now echoed in the cosmopolitan marina, charming squares, maze of cobbled streets, excellent shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Alternatively within moments of the development is one of Portugal’s oldest and most respected golf courses, Palmares. This is a totally independent course, which offers stunning views to say nothing of the golf!
But almost more importantly the Western Algarve itself is magical both in and out of season. Out of season you will find a very different aspect to that of the summer. Autumn and winter are mild and quiet, a delight for walking and exploring the beauty of the coastline. How to get there
With Faro airport under an hour away it takes just five minutes from the A22 motorway exit at Mexilhoeira Grande to go from the hustle and bustle of modern living to the un-commercialised, calm and serenity of fozdaria is totally private, and can boast outstanding view overlooking the Ria de Alvor estuary.
fozdaria is situated 3 kilometres outside the town of Lagos which is in one of the largest bays on the Algarve. An attractive, bustling town it was conquered in the 8th century by the Moors who left behind fortifications, some of which can still be seen today. During the 15th century the pioneer Henry the Navigator turned Lagos into an important naval centre and in fact the city was the capital of the Algarve from 1576 – 1756.
