About the home

Set in its own tropical garden, our two bedroom, two bathroom villia with its own pool is truly unusual in that whilst a new property, it has been built to reflect traditional Portuguese architecture. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge with full SKY TV / DVD and doors that completely fold back to provide a seamless transition from indoors to the private outdoor pool. Air conditioning throughout.

The pool area itself is fully equipped with sun loungers (with adjustable head shades to make reading), comfy 'basket' chairs and other seating areas together with a barbecue and 'secret garden' for those wanting peace, tranquillity and shade during the very hot months (very peaceful sitting under the palm trees!). Both bedrooms are en suite and have their own private terrace for that early morning cup of tea! Free wi-fi internet. Pool can be heated at additional £95 per week. Club hire also available.

Due to its heritage - Quinta in Portuguese means 'estate' - this villa has all the traditional Portuguese touches such as typical tiling, local architecture, natural stone/marble floors but with all the modern convenience required by the discerning holiday maker. There is airconditioning throughout for the hot summers/central heating for the cooler winter nights (plus a wood burning stove to make it nice and cosy/romantic!!) and, unusually for Portugal, full Sky TV.

Conditions

The villa is on one floor so is suitable for the less mobile. The swimming pool which is accessed direct from the living room does have some steps down to it. Alternative access is available from the side of the house down some steps with security rope rail. Our 90 year old mother in law, with her two replacement hips, has stayed and loved the ease with which she was able to get around.

The Algarve / West Algarve region

Lagos, which is 2km away, is the cultural and entertainment city in the area. With its cobbled streets, brand new marina, wonderful beaches and restaurants too many to count, it is a great destination for days and evenings out. Praia da Luz, which is also 2km away, offers all the advantages of a tourist resort but without the crowded feeling of other Algarve seaside areas. There are numerous beaches and coves nearby, the being 1km away which can be driven to (rarely busy even in the height of summer) or accessed on foot by a track. The surrounding villages offer a good variety of local cuisine away from the tourist crowd, and definitely at non-tourist prices!

Boavista championship golf course is 800m away.

The Lagos / Porto de Mos area

For holidaymakers, it offers the ideal location to relax and enjoy the 3000 hours of sunshine per hour that the Algarve offers whilst being very close to the historic town of Lagos and the Blue Flag beaches of the Algarve. For golfers, it's heaven as Boavista Championship golf course is only 1km away - discounted golf and free buggy apply to some bookings. Contact for details.

The nearest supermarket is just a couple of minutes away - as is a fantastic Portuguese restaurant offering cheap food and, importantly, good cheap wine!

70km from Faro airport, served by budget airlines from throughout Europe. Car hire can be arranged using a very cheap but reliable service with car collection from arrivals as opposed to a bus trip off the airport.

“It felt just like home, but with a pool and good weather!!” Lovely welcome from Caroline and Nick, who kept in touch during our trip to give us any help we needed. Very homely villa, not like some soulless modern villas we've stayed in before, but still with all the facilities you would need. Beautiful, quiet setting in secluded grounds with lovely greenery, but at the same time, very easy access to Lagos, a lovely combination of the old and the new, and Porte de Mos beach, just a few minutes drive away, where the kids had a whale of a time, and with a good restaurant (Campimar) right on the beach. Would we recommend this villa? Well, we've already booked again for next year, which we've never done anywhere before, so there's your answer

“Melody leaves a 'song in my heart'” Melody is a gem. Forget the prevalent empty soulless villa accommodation offered by many.Think instead of delightfully decorated and furnished accommodation you would be pleased to call 'home'. Add the flavours of excellent location for town country beaches and a plethora of good and reasonable restaurants, the warmth of welcome and the highest standards of service afforded by Caroline and Nick and you will want to return again and again. 2012 will be our 5th year in succession. Each year we return to qualitative improvements in and around the villa showing that the discerning owner listens to her clients. My family and I give it the highest of recommendations.

“Just fantasic!, all of the stay was a wonderful expierience” Caroline made us so welcome on our visit, we couldn't have asked for more. The property was very clean and welcoming and the garden very secluded, which was perfect. Even the swimming pool was warm and there were plenty of loungers for us all. The location was a short walk from a couple of Bars and Restaurants and the Golf club just up the road. The owners were very helpful and I will definitely be going back.

Quinta Melody is a true oasis - I can understand why it has taken us three years to stay here (ie it has always been booked when we have enquired). It is truly beautiful and Caroline, the owner has done everything to make this a real home from home. The sunbeds are just fab (like the touch of the individual parasols over to keep sun off face / head when reading), the wifi is an absolute must for our family (us for working, kids for facebooking etc) and I can't think of anything in this villa that could make it more welcoming or comforting. After years of staying in the Algarve, this will be our regular holiday home now - and we have booked for the next two years to ensure our holidays. Joan and Robert, Cardiff

This villa really is a cut above the normal holiday rental home. It has everything you could possibly want (I am a keen cook and there wasn't a piece of cooking equipment that wasn't supplied, right down to the rice cooker and Foreman grill) and it is just so peaceful/tranquil here - absolute heaven - but also within easy reach of Lagos (which we walked into each night for dinner) and the beaches. We have stayed at Quinta Melody for four years on the trot now. The villa was lovely first time round, but it just keeps getting better and better. Caroline (the owner) keeps on updating and improving it (this year we just loved the new sun beds which are really top quality) and TV. There is nothing we can think of to improve on this villa, it really is a home from home which is why we come for a month each year to recharge the batteries. Paul and Jane, Lanarkshire.

What can we say - the best holiday ever. Villa beautiful. Everything we could possibly want (better equipped than at home), and the local restaurants (two minutes' away) are just superb (and so much cheaper than in Lagos itself). As I run a cleaning company in the Ireland, I am hyper critical of cleanliness when I go on holiday. Quinta Melody was the first villa anywhere that I have stayed where I could not find a single thing wrong with it. Everything was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for Caroline (she even put a dinner in the oven when we arrived as we were delayed for 7 hours). This villa could not be better in anyway. The pool is great for swimming in, the gardens stunningly beautiful and private, and with wifi, Sky TV, aircon, a kitchen equipped down to the last detail (even electric blankets in winter, dressing gowns supplied all year round etc) there's nothing that could be improved.
