Villa Tranquillo certainly lives up to its name as it is a totally private and secluded villa set in extensive tropical gardens and with a good sized private pool (8.5 x 4 m). The villa is an ecletic mix of traditional Portuguese architecture and modern day living with satellite TV and wireless internet. There are plenty of patio and terrace areas with bbq to enjoy alfresco eating to the full and the villa is just a seven minute drive from the bustling town and beaches of Lagos, with local villages offering an excellent range of Portuguese food and wine (at very low prices!)

Villa Tranquillo is an ecletic mix of olde worlde Portuguese charm and modern living. Furnished and equipped to be a real home from home, staying here is really about enjoying, peace, quiet and privacy. The villa is set in large gardens which are totally unoverlooked and the pool (4 x 8.5m) is large enough for a 'proper' swim as well as being a great way to 'cool off'. There is satellite TV and free wifi in the villa.

The tropical gardens and terraces are just fabulous with plenty of sun loungers and alfresco dining areas to either make the most of the sun, or just relax with a good book or Ipod selection in the shade! Or take a walk through the grounds to pick your lemons for the late afternoon G and T!

The Algarve / West Algarve region

Lagos, which is just a few minutes away, is the cultural and entertainment city in the area. With its cobbled streets, brand new marina, wonderful beaches and restaurants too many to count, it is a great destination for days and evenings out. Praia da Luz, a few minutes' drive in the other direction, offers all the advantages of a tourist resort but without the crowded feeling of other Algarve seaside areas. There are numerous beaches and coves nearby, The surrounding villages offer a good variety of local cuisine away from the tourist crowd, and definitely at non-tourist prices!

The Lagos area

For holidaymakers, it offers the ideal location to relax and enjoy the 3000 hours of sunshine per hour that the Algarve offers whilst being very close to the historic town of Lagos and the Blue Flag beaches of the Algarve. If you like watersports, there are a number of water sport centres within about 10-15 minutes' drive and golf at Boavista Championship golf course (guests receive a 25% discount on normal golf fees) and the newly opened Palmares golf course are within 15 minutes' drive. Horseriding, rambling, cycling, fishing and even car/bike racing (at the newly opened Autodromo) are the same distance so there's plenty to do if you get fed up with lazing by the pool!

The nearest supermarkets are less than 10 minutes away as is the marina which is a lovely place to lunch or just watch the world go by.

The nearest airport is Faro which is a 50 minute easy motorway drive away and served by most of the European budget and scheduled airlines. For those travelling from further afield, Lisbon airport is just 2.5 hours away

“Peaceful quite tranquil villa with lovely pool” If your after a villa in a peaceful setting with good facilities and pool, then this is the villa for you, 5 mins by car to central Lagos which is a lovely place to explore. Another nice touch is that there are body boards for the kids and Dad to enjoy at the beach, along with cool bag and ice blocks for those picnics.

“One of the best holidays we have ever had” It was our first trip to Portugal and we were not disappointed. The villa was lovely and was equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was immaculately clean on arrival and a maid came twice during the week we were there. It was in a perfect location for us - set away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough to enjoy the amenities on offer. The garden was very pretty and the pool was perfect for our family of four (two teenage sons aged 16 and 18).

“Absolutely perfect location - we all loved the house and area - our best holiday to date” Villa Tranquillo was the perfect holiday location - private and very comfortably appointed. The pool was a must as the weather was very hot and our boys (17 and 12) both loved it and used it every day. The location was perfect to explore the fabulous beaches on both South and West coasts and we wondered why we had left it so long to re-visit Portugal - our favourite holiday to date!

“A holiday home to have a holiday in!” Villa Tranquillo was a delightful villa to have a summer holiday, the pool was great for both kids and adults alike. The property lived up to it's name in that it is so quiet (though some might consider it a bit remote - a car is a necessity). If I had a criticism, it is that for the price air conditioning should be a standard feature (it really is needed in the summer), though everything else is catered for, the owners were very helpful from the moment we booked to when we arrived. The villa is only 5 minutes drive from Lagos Town, which is fantastic, great, well priced restaurants and lots to see and do. Response: I am delighted to know that you enjoyed your holiday. In response to the point about air conditioning, if I recall correctly you were here during a period when the temperatures went up much higher than is usual and without the afternoon breeze that we generally have here. For the location and facilities/amenities at the villa (eg the large size of the pool, wireless, UK TV, total privacy etc) this villa is very well priced for families or couples wanting a value holiday in a quality home and the price reflects the lack of aircon (which I have in my own home and only find the need to use it about two or three times a year) as normally the elevated position of the villa ensures that the afternoon breezes naturally cool the villa.
