About the home

Fully equipped, ground floor apartment on a small secure complex with pool and SEA VIEWS from the large south facing elevated terrace. This spacious apartment sleeps 2/4 comfortably, having double bed plus double sofa bed for additional guests in lounge. Adequate facilities for all guests include large range of fitted wardrobes and drawers in bedroom, additional wardrobe with drawers in hallway. All rooms open onto the large furnished terrace for alfresco dining. The large bathroom has a JACUZZI bath for complete relaxation, with shower above. Magnificent views from the communal roof terrace (lift).
The apartment is well positioned, within easy walking distance of the beautiful Meia Praia beach with its miles of golden sands and beach bars and Lagos Marina with its bars and restaurants and access across the footbridge to town.

Alba Sul is a new development with beautiful landscaped gardens situated in the Meia Praia/Albardeira area of the historic town of Lagos.
Small supermarket within easy walking distance - 200 mtrs
Large supermarket approx 10 mins walk, Marina approx 10mins walk, beach approx 15mins walk and Lagos town approx 15 mins walk. The little road train runs from the Marina to Pont de Piedade (grottos) and back all day during summer months.
Palmares Golf course 10 mins drive, several others within 20 mins drive
Communal roof terrace with magnificent views of Lagos town and sea.
Sun loungers provided for use on terrace, around pool and on roof terrace.

Alba Sul is situated on a slight hill which may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Car is useful but not essential.
Taxis are inexpensive if required - contact details in the apartment.
There is a small extra charge for central heating in winter months

The Lagos / Meia Praia area

The charming, historic town of Lagos has something to offer everyone, with its picturesque, cobbled streets, numerous restaurants, bars and shops, cosmopolitan Marina, GOLF and many watersports. From the Marina you can take an Atlantic trip to see dolphins in their natural habitat, visit the grottos, go sea fishing or simply watch the world and expensive yachts go by. Lagos has an abundance of restaurants serving delicious cuisine ranging from traditional Portuguese to more exotic Eastern dishes. In the summer months street entertainers often perform in the town square and the firework displays are fantastic. A visit to the old slave market (1st in Europe) and the Church of Santo Antonio(Golden Church) are a must! Lagos zoo is approx 15 mins drive away.

Within 35/40 mins drive there are two water parks and Zoo Marine, the ocean theme park (swimming with dolphins can be arranged.) Also Cape St. Vincent , the furthest point west in Europe.
Trains connect from Lagos with the high speed train to Lisbon for cultural breaks and the views from the Monchique mountains back to Lagos are not to be missed.

New attraction to the area is the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve Racetrack opened in Oct 08 with the World Superbikes Championships, already approved by F.I.A. for Formula 1 status and A1 G.P. stages a round in April 09. Also a Karting track for young and old boy racers! Just 10 minutes drive from the apartment. Visit their website www.autodromodoalgarve.com for events information

Fly to Faro - Cheap flights to Faro available from Easy Jet, Jet 2, Thomson Fly etc. (booking early can secure some really good deals)
On arrival you can travel to the apartment by car, taxi, rail or bus
All major car rental companies are represented at Faro airport. Advance booking advisable, speeding up transfer times and ensuring a car is available at busy periods. Journey takes approx. 50 mins.
Taxis cost between 80 and 100 euros each way. Check price with driver beforehand.
Train from Faro to Lagos takes about 2 hours, price about 5 euros. You will need taxi from airport to Faro station, then 10 min walk from Lagos station to apartment (uphill)

“Home from home” This was the 2nd time we have stayed here and both times we felt completely at ease, the welcome from Doreen was friendly and informative. It was easy to find with the clear instructions given to us in the information pack. There was no safe at the time we were there but with all the security needed to enter the apartment block and the electric shutters on all the windows we felt very safe leaving valuables in the room, We thought we would have to eat out most evenings but the kitchen facilities were brilliant, there is a large supermarket about 15 mins walk away or the small one 5 mins away. There is also a fantastic little restaurant we found but dont be put off by its appearance outside, it had a heading of RESTAURANT in big blue neon and is just past the fish market next to the road crossing before you get to the town , it is a family run place and the food is possibly the best I have ever eaten in Portugal. Finally if I had any queries before I went I had Mary's number ( the owner ) and she was on hand to help at all times. Steve and Kay

“Home from home, great apartment, near to Lagos Marina and town” We have stayed at Casa Louisa for the past three years, great customer service from the owner and also property services. We love the apartment and the complex.

“Fantastic apartment in a fantastic location!” We have stayed twice in Casa Louisa and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment is spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable indeed with a huge terrace that gets the sun for most of the day. The pool area is just lovely and on several occasions we had the pool all to ourselves! The apartment is in a very peaceful location yet just a 10 minute relaxed stroll will take you to the Marina and a further 5 minutes into Lagos town. I believe you can also cut across the field next to the apartment for a short walk to beautiful Meia Praia beach, although we didn't try this as we had a car. Mary and Doreen were extremely helpful with any questions we had and they even looked after a couple of beach chairs we bought on our first visit thereby saving us at least 50 Euros! I have recommended Casa Louisa to family and friends and would recommend it to anyone - couples and families. The next time we visit Lagos we will definitely be staying at Casa Louisa!
