Lagos / Meia Praia area
The charming, historic town of Lagos has something to offer everyone, with its picturesque, cobbled streets, numerous restaurants, bars and shops, cosmopolitan Marina, GOLF and many watersports. From the Marina you can take an Atlantic trip to see dolphins in their natural habitat, visit the grottos, go sea fishing or simply watch the world and expensive yachts go by. Lagos has an abundance of restaurants serving delicious cuisine ranging from traditional Portuguese to more exotic Eastern dishes. In the summer months street entertainers often perform in the town square and the firework displays are fantastic. A visit to the old slave market (1st in Europe) and the Church of Santo Antonio(Golden Church) are a must! Lagos zoo is approx 15 mins drive away.
Within 35/40 mins drive there are two water parks and Zoo Marine, the ocean theme park (swimming with dolphins can be arranged.) Also Cape St. Vincent , the furthest point west in Europe. Trains connect from Lagos with the high speed train to Lisbon for cultural breaks and the views from the Monchique mountains back to Lagos are not to be missed.
New attraction to the area is the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve Racetrack opening in Oct 08 with the World Superbikes Championships, already approved by F.I.A. for Formula 1 status and A1 G.P. stages a round in April 09. Just a few minutes drive from the apartment.
How to get there
Fly to Faro - Cheap flights to Faro available from Easy Jet, Jet 2, Thomson Fly etc. (booking early can secure some really good deals) On arrival you can travel to the apartment by car, taxi, rail or bus All major car rental companies are represented at Faro airport. Advance booking advisable, speeding up transfer times and ensuring a car is available at busy periods. Journey takes approx. 50 mins. Taxis cost between 75 and 90 euros each way. Check price with driver beforehand. Train from Faro to Lagos takes about 2 hours, price about 5 euros. You will need taxi from airport to Faro station, then 10 min walk from Lagos station to apartment (uphill) We can also arrange pickups on your behalf, payable locally - please enquire.

Further details outdoors: Alba Sul is a new development with beautiful landscaped gardens situated in the Meia Praia/Albardeira area of the historic town of Lagos. Small supermarket within easy walking distance - 200 mtrs Large supermarket approx 10 mins walk, Marina approx 10mins walk, beach approx 15mins walk and Lagos town approx 15 mins walk. The little road train runs from the Marina to Pont de Piedade (grottos) and back all day during summer months. There is a health club (Jardim das Dunas) with indoor pool, outdoor pool, gym and restaurant (Flintstones) within 10 mins walk. Palmares Golf course 10 mins drive, several others within 20 mins drive Communal roof terrace with magnificent views of Lagos town and sea. Sun loungers provided for use on terrace, around pool and on roof terrace.

Alba Sul is situated on a slight hill which may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. Car is useful but not essential. Taxis are inexpensive if required - contact details in the apartment. There is a small extra charge for central heating in winter months

No pets allowed. Booking deposit £100 (non refundable) plus Security deposit £100 (refundable within 10 days of completion of holiday) is required at time of booking.
