The Algarve region

Lagos continues to be one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Algarve and is a bustling town full of activity, night-life and modern attractions. However, it is also a town full of history featuring some of the finest monuments and architecture in all of Portugal. The nearby beaches are among the best in the region and the rocky headland of Ponta da Piedade is outstandingly beautiful.

Over the two and a half thousand years of its existence, Lagos has been home to the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Moors, all attracted by the harbour and what it represented in terms of communication, location and therefore power. Henry the Navigator famously ordered expeditions from here, and indeed it was from here that Vasco de Gama set sail for what was to be his discovery of Brazil. For sightseers the ancient city walls are well preserved despite the devastation caused by the 1755 earthquake which destroyed much of the town and caused Lagos to lose its status as capital of the Algarve in favour of the less affected Faro.

Lagos

Portugal's south west coast boasts of over 300 days of sunny weather making it the ideal European destination for the perfect golf holiday. There are more than 25 golf courses in the area, and the Boavista and Palmares are situated very close to the Villa.

Completed in 2008 at a cost of nearly 200 million Euro, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is one of the world's premier race tracks. December 2008 saw Phillipe Massa and the Ferarri team use the track for F1 testing in preparation of the 2009 F1 season. The Pink Villa is just a 10km away from the circuit so it's the perfect villa to accommodate you and your family if you're keen to watch the thrill and excitement of live motor racing.

The Pink Villa is just 5 minutes walk from the 2 major supermarkets in Lagos (Aldis and Madelo's) Restaurants are a 15-20 minute walk from the Villa. These include a wide variety from Chinese, Indian, Portuguese, English and Italian.

"Beautiful Villa in a lovely town"

The photo's of this villa do not do the villa justice, it is much nicer than the impression I got from the photo's. We stayed in the villa with my three children age 20, 17 and 12, myself and my husband and two sets of Grandparents. It was spacious well equiped and clean. The pool was a little cold but it was October! There is plenty of seating inside and out. It has a lovely sweeping staircase which gives a great first impresion when you arrive.
My only criticism would be it's a little out of town. It's OK to walk if you are fit and able but I would recommend a car if you have any difficulty in walking. Aldi is just at the end of the street but there are better supermarkets a short distance away, Pingo Dolce is a more portugese supermarket with a fish counter and a better selection of essentials. This is essentil when one party member is a coeliac, There is gluten free foods available in the comarade ( I think that is the name of the supermarket) and Pingo supermarkets.
Overall a very good holiday!

Thank you for the lovely review I ,m glad you all had a lovely holiday. I,m glad some one loves it as much as I do. I will look into changing the photo,s to give the villa justic.
