Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
A 2nd floor apartment (with private / telephone entry and elevator) located on the main avenue near the heart of Lagos town centre. A prime location that is only 5 mins walk in either direction to the Marina or the town center and restaurants. Although located on the main avenue, the entrance and apartment itself faces the rear and provides peace and quiet from the traffic.
Local amenities are excellent - At street level within the same block is a newsagents, a launderette, a cafe plus a well stocked mini-supermarket that will cater for all your needs from vegetables to fresh bread. Also, one of the towns most popular restaurants (Adega Da Marina) is less than 1 min walk around the corner!. The Meia Pria beach is 10 mins by foot (courtesy of local passenger ferry across the river - available during peak season only).
The building has a very large shared rooftop terrace that provides amazing views along the avenue, the Marina and beach/sea-views.
A perfect location if holidaying without a car and there are taxi points and bus services nearby.

The Algarve region
Our last 'Winter' trip to Lagos was in early February 2013. Whilst the weather can be as unpredictable as anywhere, it is generally always a few degrees warmer than in the UK. It can sometimes rain heavily and sometimes the wind makes it chillier than normal - so a good warm jumper / jacket is advised - especially for those evening strolls.
However, sometimes pictures can say more than words....to give you an idea on the weather, ALL the photos shown above (including the ones of the local Meia Pria beach and town) were actually taken during the 1st week of February 2013.
Lagos is perhaps one of the most historic and characteristic maritime towns in the West of the Algarve. Originally encompassed by a city wall that was constructed in the 16th century, it has now expanded and grown in size, blending modern architecture with the old.
It has one of those rare combinations of being suitable for all ages with it's attractions for both the young and the mature - irrespective if family groups, friends or couples. A perfect location if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday with the options to do more. We have been going there almost every year for the last 30 years! and can vouch for its diversity!
The town is filled with numerous pubs, bars and cafes as well as countless restaurants along Rua 25 de Abril. The Adega Da Marina restaurant is located on the main avenue (less than 1 minute from the apartment) and provides fresh fish & sea food along with a variety of other meals - it's extremely popular with it's clientele of both locals and tourists, that demonstrates its value and reputation. Alternatively, if your taste is more cosmopolitan - there are also a number of Indian, Chinese, Italian and Mexican restaurants.....not to mention a certain selection of fast food establishments.
If you prefer a self catering option - then not only is there a mini-supermarket less than 50 metres distance, there are also various other shops in the town, including Lagos' famous daily fish market located just a 5 mins away on the main avenue.
For the shopper, there are also numerous clothes, shoes, toy and jewellery shops. Plus arts & crafts from both local and far afield artists (we have bought many unique items over the years!).
The apartment location is perfect for those without a car. It is most definitely not essential for staying at the apartment and enjoying the town, however, if you prefer a holiday car, then there are plenty of parking spaces (and car parks) wherever you go. Alternatively, there is a main taxi rank, train station and bus station just 5-10 mins walk in either direction if you want to travel elsewhere in the Algarve.
