This lovely 4-bedroom house is located near the Butterfly Garden in the southern part of Koh Samui. It is set within lush tropical gardens just 5 minutes from Laem Sett beach, and boasts a swimming pool with jacuzzi and sun deck with partial sea views.

This is a well-appointed spacious villa with a gated entrance with driveway to covered parking. leads to front porch and entrance lobby, leading to small library/TV room, from lobby steps lead to open-plan living room and dining area area with elevated loft and office overlooking the living area. Four large bedrooms with en suites, built-in wardrobes. The master bedroom has its own bath tub. Bedroom 4 is en-suite with its own living room and private entrance which is situated on the ground floor. Fully fitted Western kitchen with with separate utility room. This home is tastefully decorated both inside and out, with many architectural features; offering an interesting and very unique villa.

The Koh Samui region

Koh Samui is the largest of the Siam gulf islands and resides on an archipelago of 80 smaller islands of which very few (6) are inhabited. With its beautiful coconut trees and hills covered with lush vegetation and the white chalky mountains it offers a wonder of natural beauty to explore and enjoy. It enjoys a tropical climate with its main season running from Dec to April. You will find the standard of living very attractive and there are many shops offering summer clothing and accessories.

Within 5-10 minutes walk from the Villa you have over half a dozen restaurants serving Thai and western food, 3 mini-marts for your daily needs, several laundry shops, 2 massage shops to help ease that aching body. Also a couple of small bars to quench that thirst with an ice cold beer or two, for entertainment you have the tiger zoo, aquarium and butterfly garden. Slightly further a field watch the locals with the monkeys that collect the coconuts from the trees you will be amazed.

The nearest beach from the Villa is approx 700 mtrs, not the best beach on Samui but its ok, complete with a rustic Thai style beach bar that serves ice cold beer and food, the beach is good for children as it is quite shallow for a hundred meters or so. Also close by is Centara Villas Resort and Samui Orchid which opens its doors to non residents and have many facilities to enjoy, including numerous restaurants and bars go on spoil yourself.

5 minutes away by motorbike or car you have the fishing village of Baan Hua Thanon where fresh fish, fruit and vegetables are sold daily at the local market, also the home of Baan Hua Thanon seafood restaurant a well recommended eatery with a fantastic menu, a bit slow but well worth the wait.

Lamai is a beach side tourist town 10 mins drive from the Villa. There are many shops lining the streets offering locally made souvenirs and clothes. When the sun goes down the streets come alive with lights and music from the night market and variety of bars while the restaurants serve excellent Thai and western dishes in the town and on the beach.

Thai boxing is also popular and Lamai has its own professional and amateur boxing ring.

There is also the Namsuang Waterfalls, Crocodile farm and Elephant trekking which can be found a short distance away plus many temples and a snake farm.

The Aquarium ,Tiger Zoo and Butterfly Garden is within walking distance of the villa

Royal Samui Golf & Country Club. 18 hole course under construction but first 9 holes now open on mountain overlooking Lamai, 15 minutes from the villa.


Just remember nowhere on the island is more than 35 minutes away, private car hire with a driver, taxis, motor bike taxis and the local public transport which run around the ring road called song taews or simply hire a motorbike or car.

Beautiful south coast of Samui
Large villa in a good location on the best side of Koh Samui island. Nice restaurants and beach within walking distance of villa, Lamai (tesco lotus ) short journey away by car . (Worth renting car with villa..)

Villa has all the necessary facilities for a short or long stay with a good pool and sala that is not overlooked.

Paradise found
We (2 of us)stayed at the Butterfly Garden Villa in January 2011. It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting and is located in a peaceful neighborhood near to most amenities (restaurants, convenience store, beach, internet cafe). David Smart (our host) was a pleasure and could not do enough for us when called upon for any minor issues that arose. Butterfly Garden (or any of David's other villas for that matter) was a perfect home away from home and is ideal for those travellers looking for a relaxing holiday. I would not recommend it for people looking for a party style atmosphere.

Just a lovely stay!
There are a couple things I believe are really important in a advert for a resort/vacation home and that is the accuracy of the advert! We found this lovely villa on Dave's website and it was everything promised! We really didn't even need an initial tour as the pictures and video were exactly the way it is. I must admit we were a little apprehensive as we've had a bad experience in Bali renting a villa but we didn't have a single reason to worry once we arrived here. There are some "to die for" seafood/Thai restaurants within a very short distance (~700m) and one of them will even deliver.
Dave and staff were very nice and pleasant and were not intrusive one little bit. Thanks Dave for a wonderful time at your lovely villa and rest assured we will be back!

Koh Samui holiday
Hello together!
David is very friendly and attentive. Has worked everything wunder bar. Will book again with David and look forward to that next time. Can you only recommend we have House, car, moped get everything at a reasonable price offered not can be said by others.
We were picked up from the airport on time and again brought. The tips to eat and make excursions were very helpful. Internet work also via WLAN everything perfect.

Fantastic villa
We were highly impressed with this villa. The villa is very spacious and has a lovely pool area with a bbq. The pool is a good size and has the added benefit of a jacuzzi. The owner made it extremely easy. He is great at keeping in contact with us from Thailand and met us on arrival at the villa as well had collecting us all from the airport to save on taxi costs. The owner was great at explaining how to get to close by destinations and organised rental of a jeep and motorbikes to be delivered to the front door before our arrival. The maid service was also excellent - making beds and taking away rubbish without being intrusive. It is in a great location nearby Lamai and Chewang but is set in lovely peaceful surroundings which i think is a huge positive in Koh Samui.
I cannot explain how beautiful the villa is with huge bedrooms (with aircon) and all on-suite.

With the quality of the villa, location and service provided by the owner i would certainly be using it on my next visit.

Phenomenal
We arrived on the ferry boat and were met by our host David at the ferry pier. He was a fantastic host throughout our two week stay, available to immediately answer any questions or to help us with any problems. Upon arriving to the villa, we were thrilled to walk in and know we'd be there for the next two weeks. It is spacious, quiet, private, tastefully decorated and appointed, and the private pool is just fantastic. It's a great set up for a family or for a group of a few families. We were there with our 1 year old daughter who loved every minute of it.

Location is great too- walking distance to the beach and to several nice restaurants. This is not the touristy area of the island, but that was fine with us. We rented bicycles to get around to some of the bigger beaches, which did get a little hot since we were there during May. If we return and stay at the villa, we'll probably rent a car (although car rental on the island is a bit spendy). You can also walk to the main road (about a 7 minute walk) and catch the public transport to get around the island.

All in all, you will love your time staying at the villa!!!

Wonderful stay
Good location, very quiet. Owner very helpful and accommodating. Pool refreshing, unusual in our experience in hot destinations. Plenty of shade if required. Masses of room and free wifi. Perfect for our families needs.
