The charming historic market town of Devizes lies at the very heart of Wiltshire. Founded in Norman times at the boundaries (the Latin 'ad Divisas') of surrounding villages, the town grew up around the castle. The outline of the town walls shows in the 'D' shape of the centre which retains its mediaeval street plan. The town is compact and, being on the level, easy to walk round. The town prospered in Georgian times when many of its finest buildings were erected. Today Devizes can boast nearly 500 listed buildings, probably the highest concentration anywhere in England.
One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks. It is in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.

Longleat Safari Park opened in 1966 and was the first drive-through safari park outside Africa. The park is situated in the grounds of Longleat House, an English stately home that attracts tourists and is the current home of the 7th Marquess of Bath. The safari park was the first of its kind anywhere in the world and was considered to be a massive breakthrough in the way in which captive animals were kept, with the animals roaming freely and the visitors in cages (cars).

"Beautifully restored coach house with all the amenities..."
We stayed for 2 nights with our family of 5. Very comfy beds and every amenity imaginable! Owner is very friendly and so accommodating. A perfect stay just outside of the city. We loved settling in having fantastic sleeps, beautiful clean bathroom, laundry facilities, wifi, deck with table and chairs outside. We would have loved to stay longer if time allowed. Perfect if wanting to visit Bath or walk in the Cotswolds! Kids loved our walk through the old town of Lacock.

The Whitley Coach House is an outstanding property for a couple who want a quiet get away. The property is well equipped and is great for those who want to self-cater. The kitchen is well stocked. Large flat-screen television and broad-band internet was a welcome surprise. The bed was hand made and the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The rental is close to Lacock Abbey and this is a must-see.

"5 Star Stay....Truly Amazing!!"
Tim and his family were absolutely amazing hosts and extremely helpful. The Whitley Coach House is an exceptional place to stay. It is very comfortable, hidden behind the main Grade II Listed Georgian House in very quiet surroundings and within a 25 minute drive into Bath City center. The photos are a true reflection of The Coach House - very clean, spacious and refurbished to very modern standards. You will find everything you need for your stay, just bring your food and get cooking!
