The Istria region

The geographical features of Istria include Učka mountain which is the highest point in the Ćićarija mountain range, the rivers Dragonja, Mirna, Pazinčica and Raša, and the Lim bay. Labin / Rabac area

Labin (Italian: Albona) is a town in Istria, Croatia, population 7,904 (2001) with 12,426 in the municipality (which also includes small towns of Rabac and Vinež, as well as a number of smaller villages, such as Crni).

Rabac, (Italian: Portalbona) a Croatian village in Istria, is a large resort town on Kvarner Bay, just southeast of Labin.

Long a small fishing port of just three dozen homes, Rabac has grown in recent years into a resort town with numerous villas and apartment buildings.

The Rabac Festival is an annual electronic music festival that has been held there for many years; 3000 people attended in 2002.

From Buzet via Lupoglav - Vozilici to Rabac and Brovinje. From Central Europe: Highway to Villach via Karawanken tunnel to Ljubljana and Koper to Buzet. From Zagreb: Via Gorski Kotar to Rijeka, along the coast to Plomin - Labin-Rabac, or via Rijeka - Ucka tunnel-Vozilici - Labin - Brovinje. Ryan Air flies to Pula/Croatia - 40 mins drive and Trieste/Italy - 1½ hours drive. Charter flights to Pula/Croatia - 40 mins drive. Ljubljana airport/Slovenia - 1½ hours drive. Car rental available from all these airports.
