La Maison is a large farmhouse built in the 1850s and recently renovated to provide spacious accommodation consisting of: three bedrooms, bathroom, a large dining-kitchen, downstairs WC & a bright, airy lounge which opens onto a large south-facing terrace, enabling you to enjoy the Poitevin sunshine. The terrace overlooks a pretty, enclosed courtyard.

Guests have exclusive use of the pool (securely fenced & alarmed, perfect for children) which has its own south-facing terrace. The pool is open from late-May to late-September, when temperatures are usually perfect for bathing. Beyond the pool area is an enclosed paddock, ideal for ball games. Situated on the edge of the Brenne National Park the area is rich in wildlife & the many paths, tracks & quiet country lanes are ideal for walking, cycling & horse riding.
We have a smaller cottage which is available in conjunction with La Maison (for larger groups). However we do not let it separately during the summer - ensuring that guests staying in La Maison have exclusive use of the pool.

The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region

Vicq sur Gartempe is situated in the east of La Vienne, close to its borders with the Indre and Loire. A 45 minute drive will bring you to the historic town of Poitiers. Other attractions- Futuroscope, The Brenne National Park, St Cyr lake with beach. Chateau Touffou, Haute Touche Animal Park.


La Vienne / Val-de-Gartempe area

2km from Vicq-sur-Gartempe- a quiet village with a post office, general store, bakers and two friendly bars. 2km iin the other direction will bring you to Angles-sur l'Anglin (with its own ruined chateau) situated either side of a crossing over the river Anglin the picturesque village is holder of an award for one of the prettiest villages in France. Angles has 2 cafés (serving food), 3 restaurants, a tabac, pharmacy and small charcuterie. The beautiful spa town of La Roche Posay is 10km away (relaxing spa treatments available). La Roche has many shops and a supermarket as well as weekly markets- one food and one general. There is also a stunning 18 hole golf course - open to non-members. Within half an hours drive are the beautiful market towns of Chauvigny and Chatellerault.

Enjoy leisurely al fresco mealtimes on the large terrace which has garden furniture and a barbecue, and overlooks the pretty enclosed courtyard.
The pool area is enclosed and has its own and terrace and deck (with garden furniture and sun loungers) overlooking the picturesque countryside . The pool is cleaned daily.
Enjoy a quiet game of boules (locally known as petanque) in the courtyard - boules provided.
We also have a range of garden toys and games for children.

Electricity and logs (for the wood burning stove) are included.
Bed linen and towels are included but please bring your own towels for the pool.
Changeover Day - in high season is Saturday. For the rest of the year this is flexible.
The house is available from 4pm on the day of arrival. You are requested to vacate the property by 10 am on the day of departure.
Swimming Pool- available from late May to late September.
“Always remember that swimming pools can be dangerous places, especially for young children. Guests are responsible for their own safety and parents are solely responsible for the supervision and safety of their children. We strongly advise that you arrange full travel, accident and health insurance.”
We live in a cottage on the site.


Conditions

Booking- Please contact us by e-mail or telephone to check availability. We will confirm that the dates you require are available. This 'booking' will then be held for 10 days. You must print off the booking form and send it to us with a non-refundable deposit of 20%.
The balance plus a security deposit, £100*, is payable 8 weeks before your holiday is due to start.
Cancellation refunds - 4-8 weeks-50% of rate refunded, 2-4 weeks 25% of rate refunded, less than 2 weeks- no refund.
* Refunded within two weeks of your departure.
