The sitting room and kitchen has double height ceilings (around 15ft), so when you walk in, you are immediately impressed with the spaciousness of this villa. The sitting room has 3 metre patio doors which conceal into the wall space enhancing the indoor / outdoor living experience. The doors slip away effortlessly enabling you to enjoy the views of the south facing gardens, terrace and pool area.
The superbly appointed kitchen has been meticulously furnished and equipped with a 5 burner range cooker (always easier when cooking for large numbers), cafetiere, Nespresso coffee machine, two dishwashers, washing machine, microwave, and two large kitchen tables with seating for up to 13 guests where you can enjoy your freshly baked croissants! Lots of large serving dishes, crockery and cutlery are provided, so there will be no shortage when cooking a large family meal.
It's the little things that will make this a holiday to remember......
Baking - In your gite you will also find baking equipment so the kids can really have some fun on holiday making a mess! Mixing bowl, spoons, cupcake holders, and flour comes as standard in any good recipe!
Potting - Let the kids have fun planting their own seeds at the kitchen table - you will find various child friendly gardening equipment including seeds (sunflower, poppy and cress for example) potting crates and soil so the kids can spend the afternoon having fun. Take them home with you (the plants that is!) and watch the excitement on the kids' faces when they start to grow!
Colouring - Kids can relax at the kitchen table and enjoy colouring and drawing - we supply a good range of colouring pencils, paper & colouring sheets so the kids can have creative time enjoying drawing the best parts of their holiday!
Those little extras- La mirabelle is a self catering holiday home so you will need to bring/buy basic essentials - however, to make things a little easier for your arrival, we are delighted to offer you, complimentary, a small supply of essentials including tea, coffee, sugar, washing-up liquid, dish-cloths, dish washer tablets, bin bags, kitchen foil, cling-film, kitchen towels, salt/pepper pots and toilet rolls.
For the little ones we include - a high chair, travel cot, changing mat, pushchair, plus essentials like a microwave sterilizer, bottle warmer, food blender, children's crockery, cutlery and themed place mats.
The sitting room has a projector home cinema TV which is equipped with UK TV, displayed on a huge motorised screen, so you never have to miss your favourite programme. Also enjoy the Wii console with great interactive games supplied for the whole family to have fun with, particularly great on the 'big screen!'
Relax in one of the two leather sofas and enjoy the 'home cinema' experience, or just relax with a glass of wine and a good book (a huge library of excellent English books supplied including fiction, biography & thrillers!), or plug in your iPod to the Sony surround sound system and listen to your favourite artist! Don't forget about all the magazines supplied for some easy reading whilst laying in the sun including favourites like Homes & Gardens, Country Living, 25 Beautiful Homes, Maire Claire plus Hello, Ok and Heat to name but a few.
Not to be missed by the whole family is the huge selection of family/children's films. Over 100 classic family Disney, Warner bros, Fox & Universal top titles plus many, many more.
The older kids (and indeed most parents!) will love the Wii console with Wii sports and have plenty of fun on the X-box 360 with the new interactive 'Kinect' equipment supplied with Dance Central plus other great games . The little ones will love the toys, games & dressing up clothes and be delighted to find so many new games and toys for them to enjoy - Happy children = Happy parents!
A helpful comprehensive folder located in the sitting room lists local restaurants, both child-friendly and 'just for the grown-ups', top-ten activities to do with the kids, plus maps of the area, best beaches to visit, plus much more. Excellent for planning your days out and a great read over a glass of wine!
La Mirabelle has five bedrooms: 2 doubles, 1 twin, 1 triple with bunk bed & single bed & 1 quadruple with two sets of bunk beds.

Both master bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms which can also be accessed from the children's bedrooms (known as Jack & Jill bathrooms). Both bathrooms have Jacuzzi baths with over shower units. One also has the added benefit of a separate shower cubicle. Both bathrooms have glass double hand basins and WC's. There is also an additional 3rd WC at the property.
Freshly pressed 100% cotton bed linen and hand/bath towels are supplied for each guest listed on the booking form. All beds are made up for your arrival for those named on the booking form. In addition, you can hire large 100% cotton towels for the beach/pool (saves that bit of extra room in the case!) We also offer daily maid service (at a supplement) so your beds can be ready for you to slip into after a hard day at the beach or round the pool!

The pool and children's pool is surrounded by decking and grassed area with plenty of sun loungers for sunbathing where the whole family can relax and enjoy themselves. The private HEATED & FENCED swimming pool measures 11m x 5m with the fenced children's pool next to it. The whole pool area is within a fully enclosed walled/fenced area only accessible by a lockable gate (for which the parents have the keys)
In the secure garden the kids will just love the children’s play area with swings, slide, sandpit (buckets & spades provided) & a table tennis table, badmington/volleyball net and a swing ball for those enjoyable family tournaments. You will also be delighted with the large chimney style barbecue which cooks food to perfection! Overlooking the gardens, there is a decked area leading from the patio doors with a motorised awning for dining outside.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
In the village of St Benoist Sur Mer you have the wonderful restaurant/bar 'Le Lapin que Fume' which serves lunch and evening meals throughout the summer months. Only a 5 minute stroll, it 's also a great chance for the kids to practice their French each morning as it sells fresh baguettes.
La Mirabelle is under a 3 minute drive from the lovely village of Angles which has a large street market on Wednesday and Sunday mornings (in peak season) which is an excellent opportunity to sample much of the locally produced food including cheese, meat, fish and wine.
Located so close to the village of Angles you can visit in the evenings and have a choice of 5 great restaurants. You will also find a comprehensive folder in the gîte listing restaurants, activities and local events, as well as plenty of ideas for entertaining the children. There is a huge write up of over 20 local restaurants that we recommend with the kids and if you want some 'adult time' we also supply the baby-sitting too!
In the summer months Angles organises special events in the square including fun days, evening entertainers, jazz and blues nights, firework displays and night markets. You can sit with the locals and enjoy 'moules & frites' listening to a band watching the kids dance to their hearts content.
Angles has its own Office de Tourisme, as well as a post office, two banks, a hairdresser, a beauty salon, an aromatherapist, a pharmacy, five cafés/bars and four restaurants. There are also two supermarkets, two butchers, a fishmonger and a fruit & vegetable shop.
The large fishing port of l'Aiguillon is just 10 minutes away. Early risers can choose from a range of freshly-caught fish, mussels, oysters, langoustine and gambas at the town's fish market which is open every weekday at 5am. Those who prefer a lie-in can sample the seafood later in the day at one of the many wonderful fish restaurants in the town.

The La Tranche sur Mer / Angles area
Blue Flag Sandy Beaches (10 minutes away by car)
The fantastic sandy beaches are over 13 kilometres long - and 8 kilometres of them face due south. La-Tranche-sur-Mer and Les Conches are ideal for families with children. They are approved as a "Kids’ Station", which means that the resort is a safe environment for children to play in. It also has specialist equipment and entertainments which specifically cater for families.
Great Quad Bike/karting experience (2 minutes away by car)
Let the kids (and indeed the big boys!) be the next Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button for a while! Whiz around the course and have a great thrill trying to beat your opponents. For safety reasons, the kids go on the course only with other children and the safety briefing is excellent. Indian Forest Adventure (5 minutes away by car)
This great theme park has marked trails in a forest, as well as 122 different challenges. Suspended on safety harnesses, you are able to climb, swing, dismount and even slide across the forest at a height of 20ft above the ground. There is also an adventure area for toddlers, with themed bouncy castles, a ball park, rock climbing and an inflatable park. This is a 2 hour journey into the depth of the ocean - The kids will just loved it. There are over 10,000 Atlantic, Mediterranean and Tropical species to view in an amazing 3 million litres of water. Dunes Adventure Park (1hr away by car)
With over 38 different activities for the children to play on, the kids are bound to find a favourite! The kids will thoroughly enjoyed everything on offer especially the water slides, trampolines (fully enclosed) and toboggan rides. Puy du Fou (1hr 30mins away by car)
This is where time stands still - and will be an instant hit with children and adults alike. You'll see villages from different eras, gladiators still doing battle and Vikings launching attacks on fortified castles! In the summer, there are 28 evening/night shows with 300 fireworks per show, 2000 digitally-controlled projectors, 1500 computerised fountains, 4500 costumes and many more special effects. Cycle rail on tracks (1hr 30 away by car)
This is a great chance for the entire family to have some quality time together taking in the beautiful countryside, and wildlife whilst enjoying a picnic. Fishing on the rivers (5 minutes away by car)
You can enjoy two types of fishing - On the freshwater rivers upstream from the lock gates at Moricq, you can try for pike, perch, carp, bream and other bleak. You will need a licence which can be purchased at the villages Office du Tourism. Or you can fish in the saltwater reaches of the Lay, from the gates of Moricq to the mouth of the river which is subject to maritime regulations, so you can fish free of charge, for grey mullet, eels and plaice

We booked to stay at la Mirabelle at Christmas with our 3 young children. The booking was easy and quick. We were contacted prior to our departure to confirm all the details such as directions, key pick up... all communications were very informative and easy to follow. When we arrived, la mirabelle certainly lived up to expectations from the site photos! The gite was tidy, clean with all the little essentials we needed for the first few days. All the details for these of equipments was listed on a board and a file containing the information on the surroundings and activities was on hand, great to familiarise ourselves to the area! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything than we needed and more! Travelling with a toddler, we were very pleased that all was provided from kids cutlery to highchair, black out blinds, spare pushchair.... for the older children the play area upstairs and outside were great, they all found toys that suited! The most popular, especially in the winter, was the screen projector and the wii console...hours of fun!! For the grown ups there was plenty of wine glasses, two dishwashers! great comfortable beds with toppers and happy children! La mirabelle is only a few minutes in the car from Angles which we thought was a beautiful village with great bakery and facilities. the beaches of la tranche were only 10 minutes away and easily accessible. We would definitely love to go back to the area! Overall we had a fantastic Christmas in la Mirabelle and hope to be back very soon! |

The quality and standard of the accommodation was just wonderful and I'm not sure I could settle for anything that wasn't comparable now. The open plan layout of La Mirabella was effortless and easily accommodated 13 people at any one time. The location is perfect and although you have the feel of a rural property you are always within a two minute drive of the local amenities in Angle - a lovely town. Gites In Angles certainly pulled out all the stops to ensure that the holiday is effortless and enjoyable - from the initial directions you get to the great recommendations on where to eat locally, (le lapin qui fume restaurant in village of St Benoist) their knowledge and presence in the local area is worth its weight in gold.
Great team, high standards and absolutely no problems. Would I book again? Of course, I wouldn't book with anyone else. My family of three different generations still talk about the wonderful time we spent in Angles at La Mirabelle
La Mirabelle has been a wonderful gite for our holiday. With two young children the play room was very appreciated for those moments when we were preparing meals (as were the books) Being in a village was important but we didn't take advantage of it as every day we were at the beach or lounging by the pool. Had we organised ourselves and arranged babysitting then maybe we would've used the village bar for a meal. In

The location - Close to great beaches, La Tranche, L'Aguillion. We did day trips (less than an hour away) to La Rochelle where the aquarium and cafe Andres were both loved and we went to (breignolles) where we spent time crawling through the rock pools! Summary we would recommend this gite to anyone."
We spent a long time looking for the right place to stay to celebrate my Dad's 60th Birthday. We needed somewhere that slept 12 comfortably (3 families, ranging from 2 - 60) and somewhere that could keep us all entertained. We came across La Mirabelle by accident searching on the internet and I am so glad we did. It was perfect for everyone. We contacted Susan at Gites in Angles and explained that we were booking this as a suprise 60th birthday gift and she could not have been more helpful. It is a big responsibility booking for this many people and however ridiculous my question was she was more than happy to help and advise.
On our arrival we were very impressed. My Dad was very overwhlemed with it all and literally he had only found out that we were going to La Mirabelle a few hours before at East Midlands Airport. We were all very excited and checking out all of the rooms. What struck me most was the huge table in the kitchen and Oh did we put the world to rights around it!! The rooms are beautiful and decorated in lovely fresh colours. The bed linen smelt gorgeous and the fresh smell lasted all week. The bathrooms are very modern, much like expensive hotels.
There is everything you need at the house and the children loved the playroom, The pool and gardens are fantastic and we were blessed with great weather. We paid extra to have the pool heated and the kids spent most of the days / evenings in it. It is completely secure and the big step was perfect for my 2 year old to play on. The temperature of the pool was spot on too.
The mantainence team, Jenny and Tim in our case were great. Very knowledgable, helpful and friendly. We couldn't find the ipod docking station when we arrived and as we bought 5 ipods with us we were keen to listen to our music. This was sorted out very quickly and a replacement was bought to the house, although this then caused a few problems as we then fought over Eric Clapton v Tinie Tempah!!
The surrounding area is lovely we visited Angles, Tranch Sur Mer and a must family day out is Poy du Fou especially if your children are learning about Vikings/ Romans at school as mine are. Its about an hour away but definitely worth a visit. We bought our tickets in advance from the tourist info in Angles and got a good deal.
The beach at Tranch Sur Mer is great, the children loved climbing up and surfing down the great big sand dunes and the ice cream parlours there are fantastic. Flavours that you can only dream of - ferrero rocher, tolberone, snickers etc etc. We were in heaven, never mind the kids.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely go back. The Service from Susan in particular was second to none and she really did go that extra mile - the bottle of Champagne for my Dad was a really nice touch. It was a lovely holiday and one that we will never forget
We stayed in La Mirabelle for a week in June and it was just great! the location of the villa was lovely and quiet but had all amenities close by including the town of Angles.
We have two toddlers and they loved the play room, spent hours in there! and the little paddling pool was a hit too! not to mention the sandpit playground! for us the swimming pool was great, very well heated and always well maintained. The maintenance staff were there if we needed them but we didn't because everything was great! I would highly recommend this villa for a family or two sharing. We really didn't feel that we had to leave the house as everything was there! Thank you one again to all the team at Gites in Angles.
The best option for a stay in western France! - What can I say about Gites in Angles? Particularly La Mirabelle where we spent three sun-drenched weeks this summer!
From the moment you pass through the electric gates and walk through the front door, you can't but be impressed by the scale and layout of this beautiful villa. With the huge double height ceiling and the very modern fitout, it's a true home away from home with everything you could need at hand! The toy room on the mezzanine was an instant hit, the supplied toys, books, games and jigsaws kept our two little boys thrilled and the Wii, Sky+ and huge book and magazine collection kept Mum and Dad very happy too! The appliances were all very modern and to a high standard and we loved the jacuzzi baths and the great power showers! You can even have a blast of french radio in the morning in the shower!
The real beauty of this villa though was the outside space. The stunning, large pool was just beautiful. The water was always perfectly warm and inviting and the huge first step made the perfect playarea for the boys, who grew in confidence and then could swim off around the pool :) Between the pool, the big playground area and sandpit, we had to drag the kids back indoors at night! Everything is extremely safe and well laid out, meaning you can relax on the terrace while keeping a close eye on kids playing!
As if that wasn't enough, Gites in Angles provide a concierge and cleaning service too! No request was too much or too batty, and attention to detail, professionalism and courtesy rang through every interaction! Could not recommend this element of the service enough and gave us great peace of mind. We're just sorry we didn't avail of the private chef option!!
The area is a lovely, typical small village, with a bar/restaurant within walking distance, where you can also pick up your morning baguette. Nearby la Tranche has everything you could want in a beach town, with loads of great restaurants, cafes, etc. We really loved the Forge restaurant on the square - recommended by our hosts, and they had great kids meals (and very reasonable too!) The Market was also a great day out. In the other direction, Les Sables d'Olonne is a stunning promenade. With so much to see and do around the area, we didn't even get to a fraction of it, even with three weeks to spend! In summary, if you are looking for a relaxed, effortless holiday that will keep Mum, Dad, the kids and everyone else delighted and comfortable - look no further! Recommended!
We had a great time and found the design of the house very well suited to housing two families with small children.
Having rented La Mirabelle for almost 3 months in Winter 2009, the description given on the website was totally accurate. The property was spotless, and very well maintained.
Access to the owners/agency and maintainence was only a phonecall away, and answered immediately.
We would totally recommend this property to potential renters, and would have rented it again ourselves were it not for circumstances keeping us home this Winter.
The location, close to the coastal towns of Angles, La Tranche sur Mer (our favourite) with it's shops and restaurants - great Italian restaurant- and miles of pristine beaches ensured our enjoyment of the area.
the city of Lucon is a 30-45 minute drive away, with shops and restaurants and large supermarkets, and the beautiful historic city of La Rochelle is also a comfortable drive from the house.
We wanted a holiday that didn’t compromise on our home comforts - and yes we found it!! Relaxed, luxury comfortable, gite just what I was looking for. Kids very happy, grandparents very happy - me..... very very happy! thanks so much.
We booked the villa with another family, so there were four adults, two children of 6 years and two 2 year olds. I have to say we thought the description didnt do it justice.
There is a large central open plan area - double height so feels really spacious. This has the lounge and kitchen and large seating area for dinner. There are stairs to a galleried area which is the playroom, and it has child safety gates at the top which is great for really small ones.
The bedrooms are located 2 on one side of the villa and 3 on the other, each with their own bathroom. This is ideal when there are 2 families sharing - gives you a bit of 'space' to yourselves. The garden is completely enclosed and little ones cannot escape so you can relax knowing they are around somewhere! Plus the pool is fenced off - all in all I found the set-up incredibly relaxing as my 2 yr old is a 'runner'.
It is a modern home with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and even other great touches like a book library for adults and children, lots of magazines to read and a fabulous dvd collection.
It safe to say the children loved it, having their own playroom, with toys was great and the swings outside were a huge hit. The pool was amazing - it has to be really properly heated for me to go in and I was in the pool every day!

Week started on a high when you showed us the cupboard stuffed with toys. - Throw in the warm swimming pool, excellent facilities and above all your wonderful welcome and we had all the ingredients for a fantastic holiday.

Prices are based on up to 6 adults and 7 children sharing the property.
Payment is requested by bank transfer to our French bank account, prices are advertised in GBP, however, payments are taken in Euros. The security deposit of 500euros per week is due at the time of booking.
Payment can be made by credit/debit card at a 3% charge. Prices are advertised in GBP, however, payments are taken in Euros. A standard end of stay cleaning fee of £59.00 is charged.
100% cotton bed linen as well as bath and hand towels are supplied for each guest named on the booking form with all beds made ready for your arrival. We also offer large 100% cotton beach towels for hire (saves that bit of extra room in the car on the way home for the great bottles of wine!)
Pool heating is included in the months of July and August, all other months a charge of £100 per week is applicable.
Saturday to Saturday changeover
Winter lets are welcome from Mid October through to Mid April each year, minimum 3 month let priced at £1,000 per month and are based on one family sharing.
