Le Pressoir is a 4 bedroom barn conversion able to sleep up to 9 guests, ideally located only a 2 minute stroll from a lively village & only 8 minutes by car from wonderful sandy 'blue flag' beaches.

Relax in one of the sofas and enjoy the 'home cinema' experience excellent for watching either sports, 'the tweenies' or a good old fashion film. Or simply just relax with a glass of wine and a good book (a huge library of excellent English books supplied including fiction, romance novels, biography & thrillers!), If you prefer, plug in your iPod and listen to your favourite artist whilst enjoying some easy reading laying in the sun. The excellent variety of magazines will keep you entertained with favourites like Homes & Gardens, Country Living, 25 Beautiful Homes, Marie Claire plus Hello, Ok and Heat to name but a few.
The older kids will love the Wii console with interactive family games, whilst the little ones will love the toys, games & dressing up clothes and be delighted to find so many new games and toys for them to enjoy - Happy children = Happy parents!
Not to be missed by the whole family is the huge selection of family/children's films. Over 50 classic family Disney, Warner bros, Fox & Universal top titles plus many many more.
A helpful comprehensive folder located in the sitting room lists local restaurants, both child-friendly and 'just for the grown-ups', top-ten activities to do with the kids, plus maps of the area, best beaches to visit, plus much more. Excellent for planning your days out and a great read over a glass of wine!
The open plan social sitting room is partially covered with rugs for maximum comfort and offers large sofas, plus lots of puzzles and children's toys from train sets to dressing up clothes and princess slippers. Although this area has two half flight stairs, stair gates have been fitted for peace of mind.
The large kitchen is the social hub of the barn and is very well equipped including a large 5 burner range cooker (great for when cooking for large numbers), a farmhouse table with 8 chairs, cafetiere, Nespresso coffee machine (1€ per tab), dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer and ironing facilities. Those little extra's - You will also find kitchen essentials like washing up liquid, dish clothes, bin bags, kitchen foil, cling-film, kitchen towels, salt & pepper pots plus various herbs at your disposal.
It's the little things that will make this a holiday to remember......
Baking - In your gite you will also find baking equipment so the kids can really have some fun on holiday making a mess! Mixing bowl, spoons, cupcake holders, and flour comes as standard in any good recipe!
Potting - Let the kids have fun planting their own seeds at the kitchen table - you will find various child friendly gardening equipment including seeds (sunflower, poppy and cress for example) potting crates and soil so the kids can spend the afternoon having fun. Take them home with you (the plants that is!) and watch the excitement on the kids' faces when they start to grow!
Colouring - Kids can relax at the kitchen table and enjoy colouring and drawing - we supply a good range of colouring pencils, paper & colouring sheets so the kids can have creative time enjoying drawing the best parts of their holiday!
Le Pressoir has 2 master bedrooms, 1 twin & 1 triple bedroom all air conditioned. The property is on three levels, upper ground floor, ground floor and lower ground floor (which is semi basement). There are only 3 steps between the upper ground floor and the ground floor and 7 steps between the ground floor and lower ground floor and stair gates have been fitted.

The 12 x 6 meter shared swimming pool and toddler slide is surrounded by 150m2 of decking. The pool has been specifically designed and built with children's enjoyment in mind and has both a SAFETY FENCE and has lockable child safety gates.
The shallow end is only 1.05m deep (i.e. shallower than normal), so young children can stand in the water easily. Please note - the pool is shared between our 3 properties, Le Palmier, Le Pressoir and La Pergola so a great opportunity for the kids to meet & play with new friends.
The shade on your private terrace area gives a welcome break from the midday sun, it is also the perfect spot to relax as lunch is served! You will also find garden furniture in the way of a picnic bench, additional sun chairs, a chimney style BBQ (great for French sausages) so you can enjoy your 'Pimms' on the terrace at 5pm whilst getting the kids tea ready!
The garden is accessed by 7 steps leading down to the terrace area (stair gate at top) The garden is full of lots of shrubs, plants and trees and overlooks the swimming pool, it is divided by a 1.8m fence (with a large Palm tree in front) to the neighbouring property of Le Palmier.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
Le Pressoir is only a 2 minute stroll from the centre of Angles, which has a large street market on both Wednesday and Sunday mornings - an excellent opportunity to sample much of the locally produced food, including cheese, meat, fish and wine.
In the summer months Angles organises special events in the square including fun days, evening entertainers, jazz and blues nights, firework displays and night markets. You can sit with the locals and enjoy 'moules & frites' listening to a band and watch the kids dance to their hearts content.
Located so close to the village, you can either take a leisurely walk down in the morning to pick up your fresh baguette and croissants, or stroll down in the evenings to a choice of great restaurants. You don’t have to load all the kids in the car (plus all of the equipment that comes with having a family) to have a great meal.
The village has its own Office de Tourisme, as well as a post office, two banks, a hairdresser, a beauty salon, an aromatherapist, a pharmacy, five cafés/bars and four restaurants. There are also two supermarkets, two butchers, a fishmonger and a fruit & vegetable shop.
The large fishing port of l'Aiguillon is just 10 minutes away. Early risers can choose from a range of freshly-caught fish, mussels, oysters, langoustine and gambas at the town's fish market which is open every weekday at 5am. Those who prefer a lie-in can sample the seafood later in the day at one of the many wonderful fish restaurants in the town.
With the Vendée's wonderful micro-climate, & less than an hour from La Rochelle, our luxury gite makes the perfect getaway for those wanting a quick, easy trip to sandy beaches & sunshine.

The La Tranche sur Mer / Angles area
Blue Flag Sandy Beaches (10 minutes away by car)
The fantastic sandy beaches are over 13 kilometres long - and 8 kilometres of them face due south. La-Tranche-sur-Mer and Les Conches are ideal for families with children. They are approved as a "Kids’ Station", which means that the resort is a safe environment for children to play in. It also has specialist equipment and entertainments which specifically cater for families.
Great Quad Bike/karting experience (2 minutes away by car)
Let the kids (and indeed the big boys!) be the next Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button for a while! Whiz around the course and have a great thrill trying to beat your opponents. For safety reasons, the kids go on the course only with other children and the safety briefing is excellent. Indian Forest Adventure (5 minutes away by car)
This great theme park has marked trails in a forest, as well as 122 different challenges. Suspended on safety harnesses, you are able to climb, swing, dismount and even slide across the forest at a height of 20ft above the ground. There is also an adventure area for toddlers, with themed bouncy castles, a ball park, rock climbing and an inflatable park. The beach at La-Tranche-sur-Mer has a 6-hectare area of water for water sports. The "Cercle Nautique Tranchais" (CNT) offers sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sand-sailing. The area is also superb for boating and surfing enthusiasts

Adventure Park & Chateau (15 minutes away by car)
Experience the ‘historic adventure' in the setting of the grounds of the 'Chateau ee La Guignardiere'. Visit four continents of the world and solve the various puzzles as you go round. Get all the answers correct at the end the children get to open the treasure chest which holds a special reward for them. Aquarium La Rochelle (1hr away by car)
This is a 2 hour journey into the depth of the ocean - The kids will just loved it. There are over 10,000 Atlantic, Mediterranean and Tropical species to view in an amazing 3 million litres of water. The huge shark aquarium with 20 different species was amazing if not a little frightening . Dunes Adventure Park (1hr away by car)
With over 38 different activities for the children to play on, the kids are bound to find a favourite! The kids will thoroughly enjoyed everything on offer especially the water slides, trampolines (fully enclosed) and toboggan rides. A very safe, clean and friendly environment and lots of under cover shaded picnic area.
Puy du Fou (1hr 30mins away by car)
This is where time stands still - and will be an instant hit with children and adults alike. You'll see villages from different eras, gladiators still doing battle and Vikings launching attacks on fortified castles! In the summer, there are 28 evening/night shows with 300 fireworks per show, 2000 digitally-controlled projectors, 1500 computerised fountains, 4500 costumes and many more special effects. Cycle rail on tracks (1hr 30 away by car)
This is a great chance for the entire family to have some quality time together taking in the beautiful countryside, and wildlife whilst enjoying a picnic. Fishing on the rivers (5 minutes away by car)
You can enjoy two types of fishing - On the freshwater rivers upstream from the lock gates at Moricq, you can try for pike, perch, carp, bream and other bleak. You will need a licence which can be purchased at the villages Office du Tourism. Or you can fish in the saltwater reaches of the Lay, from the gates of Moricq to the mouth of the river which is subject to maritime regulations, so you can fish free of charge, for grey mullet, eels and plaice

"Le Pressoir in the village of Angels provided the ideal base for visiting and enjoying all that is good about Western France - great local seafood, beautiful beaches and good restaurants - with the pound poor against the Euro we made best use of the facilities in the Gite. The country style kitchen was great for preparing and enjoying large family meals - made easy by excellent butchers, fishmomgers and bakeries in the village only 100 metres away. The kids loved the pool and we drank the wine!"
"As Le Pressoir is actually furnished to a higher standard than our own home, and equipped with more goodies, then it seems only sensible to return again and again to this authentic French home from home.
We visited local restaurants and beaches and other nearby towns. There is a mixture of small speciality shops and large supermarkets when you need them. The gite was equipped with some very useful but not often found 'extras'. There was a slim wall unit of coffee heaven in capsules for every type of coffee. A small honesty bowl was present for the euro per cup. Excellent idea and a wonderful welcome as well a treat every morning. On the huge coffee table was a selection of quality glossy magazines for him and her. The children scacely had time to make a dent in the dvd and video collection, luckily the weather was dry and we were out most days. The whole feel of the gite was stylish while still being warm and welcoming. The arrangement of the accommodation from the view point of housing two families very cleverly kept our two families apart for quiet/relaxing/washing times and together for meals and games. The two bathrooms are on different floors, well away from each other and away from the kitchen and social area. Each bathroom has a double bedroom either side of it, so that all 4 bedrooms had a locking door directly into one of the two bathrooms so no creeping along the hallway hoping not to bump into a member of the other family.
The proportions of the gite are very large, so the feeling of space is real and not just provided by the excellent arrangement of the accommodation. As we visited in February we didn't use the pool, but it looked great none the less, and was safely fenced off from the children. The level of technology in the gite is in advance of most homes, such as the projector and screen for viewing films and tv. I tried to find fault, but short of a single cobweb, there was nothing. We are planning to visit again in the spring with friends.I have ticked the above 55 age group because there are only a few stairs (five up and five down), and there are shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk on the flat."
"A thoroughlly comfortable and homely base, Le Pressoir has some wonderfully thoughtful touches for families; the choice of toys and games was so wide that we never actually used the Wii at all - every minute of spare time tended to be spent down at the beach at La Tranche and the whole area has great amenities and attractions for kids and adults. The great climate of the southern Vendee helps too!
The listing was accurate, the property was very clean and well run and the converted stone building more than made up in character what it lacks in luxurious modernist feel. The kitchen/dining area makes a great heart at the centre of the property. The gardens and pool were certainly adequate although again we spent more time away from the property than enjoying these to their full extent. For a family of maybe 2 familes each with 2 kids then Le Pressoir is an ideal layout with exceptional facilities in a great location at the heart of fantastic attractions. The management team were very thorough, helpful and accomodating and it would be hard to find anything to complain about. In La Tranche, our favourite eatery was Le Phare and the best adult day trip was La Rochelle and the Isle De Re whereas the kids loved La Parc Des Dunes. Too many things that we didn't get around to doing so maybe next year we need to revisit Gites in Angles."

"We were looking for a Gite that we could take my Son to for his tenth birthday, with his cousins, Looked on the internet and found Gîtes in Angles, from our first email with some questions we had, we were answered very clearly and quickly so we booked. When we arrived it all looked very clean, not that the kids care about stuff like that.... It was good to see that all the facilities matched the descriptions on the web site. The projector TV with all the DVDs was a hit in the evening just before the kids bed time, as was the coffee machine .... for me. The layout was great for two families, there is loads of space. The kitchen was very well equipped, dishwashers on holiday are a must. All the games toys and books were great too.
The shops were a very short walk away, as were the restaurants too. There was a great market in the town as well. The beach was great fun (and clean). The pool was great as well, specially as it was fenced off.
The owner's where great, they sorted a few things out for us, one being a birthday cake.
I have recommended the Gites to some friends and family already, and we will be returning soon"

50% of the total booking fee plus a security deposit of 200euros per week is taken at the time of booking with the remaining balance due 16 weeks prior to arrival. For reservation made within 16 weeks of the arrival date the full balance is due at the time of booking.
Payment can be made by credit/debit card at a 3% charge. Prices are advertised in GBP, however, payments are taken in Euros. A standard end of stay cleaning fee of £49.00 is charged.
Sunday to Sunday changeovers
100% cotton bed linen as well as bath and hand towels are supplied for each guest named on the booking form with all beds made ready for your arrival. We also offer large 100% cotton beach towels for hire (saves that bit of extra room in the car on the way home for the great bottles of wine!)
Pool heating is charged at 100euros per week out of Peak Season dates
Winter lets are welcome from Mid October through to Mid April each year, minimum 3 month let priced at £800 per month and are based on one family sharing. Please visit our website for full details of our winter lets.
