Only 3 hours from St-Malo & 1 hour from the airports of Nantes & La Rochelle our gite makes a perfect getaway for those wanting a quick, easy trip to excellent beaches & sunshine.
Like our other two properties, La Pergola has all the modern comforts you would expect when renting a quality holiday home. The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
La Pergola is only a 2 minute stroll from the centre of Angles, which has a large street market on both Wednesday and Sunday mornings in the summer months - an excellent opportunity to sample much of the locally produced food, including cheese, meat, fish and wine.
During July and August, Angles organises special events in the square including fun days, evening entertainers, jazz and blues nights, firework displays and night markets. You can sit with the locals and enjoy 'moules & frites' listening to a local band play watching the kids dance to their hearts content.
Located so close to the village, you can either take a leisurely walk down in the morning to pick up your fresh baguette and croissants, or stroll down in the evenings to a choice of great restaurants. You don’t have to load all the kids in the car (plus all of the equipment that comes with having a family) to have a great meal out.
The village has its own Office de Tourisme, as well as a post office, two banks, a hairdresser, a beauty salon, an aromatherapist, a pharmacy, five cafés/bars and four restaurants. There are also two supermarkets, two butchers, a fishmonger and a fruit & vegetable shop.
The large fishing port of l'Aiguillon is just 10 minutes away. Early risers can choose from a range of freshly-caught fish, mussels, oysters, langoustine and gambas at the town's fish market which is open every weekday at 5am. Those who prefer a lie-in can sample the seafood later in the day at one of the many wonderful fish restaurants in the town.
Whether you're an experienced cyclist or a leisure rider, this area has plenty of surprises in store for you. all along the 'Loire a Velo' signposted bike trial, you can marvel at the stunning Loire countryside, visit châteaux’s & Abbeys, stroll through quaint little towns & cycle through vineyards for over 110 miles!
The Val de Loire Vineyards Tourist Trail - 40,000 hectares of ‘dégustation’ - The skills of the vine were introduced by the Romans, and are now one of the main assets of the Pays de la Loire. La Tranche sur Mer / Angles area

Puy du fou grand park Puy du Fou is where time stands still - take a journey through 2,000 years of history. You will see villages from different eras, gladiators still doing battle, Vikings launching attacks on fortified castles and jousting knights plus a 1900 market town and a 18th Century Village. In the summer, there are 28 evening/night shows with 300 fireworks per show, 2000 digitally-controlled projectors, 1500 computerised fountains, 4500 costumes and many more special effects. Other sporting activities on the coast The beach at La-Tranche-sur-Mer (10 minutes away) has a 6-hectare area of water for water sports. La Rochelle The famous city of La Rochelle is just 45 minutes away. Explore the chic shops or watch the world go by from one of the many trendy bars or bistros. Fishing You can enjoy two types of fishing - On the freshwater rives upstream from the lock gates at Moricq (5 mins away), you can try for pike, perch, carp, bream and other bleak. You will need a licence which can be purchased at our office du tourism. Or you can fish in the saltwater reaches of the Lay, from the gates of Moricq to the mouth of the river which is subject to maritime regulations, so you can fish free of charge, for grey mullet, eels and plaice.
Golf France is one of Europe's most popular golfing holiday destinations. Further details indoors: La Pergola has 4 bedrooms - 2 master bedrooms, 1 twin and 1 bunk bedroom. All bedrooms are air conditioned. The ground floor accommodation has 1 master bedroom & the bunk bedroom. It has been specifically designed in mind to also allow easy access for the elderly or for wheel chair users. We have ramps for easy access, 1 meter wide internal doors, a Jacuzzi bathroom & fully tiled shower room with WC.
On the first floor you will find a 2nd master bedroom which has been beautifully furnished with antique furniture & a twin bedroom. For maximum comfort, all double beds have mattress toppers and the highest quality bed linen & bath towels are provided.
In the sitting room you have a Projector TV and huge motorised screen - excellent for watching either sports, 'the tweenies' or a good old fashion film. We also supply a huge video library for family entertainment with over 50 top titles, a play station with games, DVD's & lots of toys, games & dressing up clothes for the kids. You will not be disappointed to find so many new games and toys for the kids to enjoy - Happy children = Happy parents!
The open-plan kitchen/sitting room has been meticulously furnished & equipped. There is a large 5 burner range cooker (always easier when cooking for large numbers) & a large kitchen table, here you can enjoy freshly baked croissants! We have everything you would expect to find including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave & a huge stainless steel fridge freezer - (very important!).
You will also find kitchen essentials like washing up liquid, dish clothes, bin bags, kitchen foil, cling film, kitchen towels & salt & pepper grinders at your disposal. A few less items to pack & always appreciated.
For the little ones - we supply a high chair, travel cot, changing mat, pushchair, plus essentials like a sterilizer & bottle warmer, food blender and baby bath. We also supply a huge selection of children’s toys from dressing up clothes to train sets, puzzles, board games and buliding blocks.
Further details outdoors: The huge 12x6 meter swimming pool is surrounded by 150m2 of decking with lots of sunloungers. The pool has been specifically designed and built with children's enjoyment in mind and has both a SAFETY FENCE and has lockable child safety gates. The shallow end is only 1.05m deep (i.e. shallower than normal), so young children can stand in the water easily.
The pool has a large terrace & an additional raised decked area, which is shaded by a large walnut tree. Here there are café-style tables & chairs, a great place for the kids to play out of the sun. Please note - the large pool is shared with all three of our gites.
The shade of the wrought iron gazebo on your private terrace area gives a welcome break from the midday sun, it is also the perfect spot to relax & enjoy the views of the pool & the beautiful gardens, as lunch is served! You will also find quality garden furniture and a herb garden for you to pick mint from to enjoy your 'pimms' on the deck at 5pm!

NB: Prices may be subject to change at the owner's discretion. Prices are based on up to 4 adults and 4 children sharing the property. Two further adults can be added to the booking if the childrens places are not taken, however, there is a suppliment. Any additonal children are NOT charged for if they are under 17 years old. Prices are advertised in GBP, however, payments are taken in Euros on and exchange rate of 1.30%.
Credit Card payments are accepted, however a 2% surcharge applies with this method of payment. Alternatively payments can be made by international bank transfer.
Winter lets are welcome from Mid October through to Mid April each year at a price of 1300euros per month and are based on one family sharing. Bedding, electric, gas, water, personal taxes, sky packages or any fuel is not included within the price and is the responsibility of the tenant to pay.
Luxury 100% cotton bed linen is supplied within the price, as well as bath towels and bathroom hand towels. We also offer large 100% cotton beach towels for hire (saves that bit of extra room in the car on the way home for the great bottles of wine!)

Week started on a high when you showed up the cupboard stuffed with toys. - Throw in the warm swimming pool, excellent facilities and above all you wonderful welcome and we had all the ingredients for a fantastic holiday.
