The house has a large open plan kitchen, lounge/diner on the upper level which leads onto the balcony, along with the master bedroom and en suite. On the lower level you will find a further 3 bedrooms, 2 Doubles and 1 with 2 sets of bunk beds. The family bathroom is also on this level. You can access the lower patio from the double doors from the bunks room.
The garden is enclosed and has parking for 2 cars and room for the children to play. The rear of the house also boosts a decking area with seating to catch the last sun rays of the day!

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The Vendee enjoys 2,500 hours of sunshine a year which can be enjoyed along the 140kms of sandy beaches.
The south Vendee has a relatively flat terrain which makes it perfect for cycling and there are hundreds of kilometres of cycling tracks throughout the region.
There are many things to do and see in the region including Chateaux, Floral Parks, Karting, Surfing and the famous Grand Parc Puy du Fou.
The La Tranche sur Mer / La Terriere area
La Terriere has a bakers, bar/tabac and restaurant a few minutes from the house. The nearest town is La Tranche sur Mer, a 3 km drive, where you will find the Supermarket. In summer, La Tranche comes alive! There is a twice weekly market selling lots of good local produce and often there are summer fayres and antique markets as well. The town has many restaurants, catering for all tastes and seafood is a great speciality - with oysters and mussels freshly landed each morning.
In the evenings, the town has lots of entertainment for all ages, ranging from music & dancing in the bars, to full-blown 'Summer Shows', as well as discos and lots of organised entertainment on the beaches.

I stayed here for one week in September 2012 with my husband and our one year old daughter. We had a wonderful time and we couldn't have picked a more perfect house in the area. We flew from England which meant we were limited with our luggage but this did not matter as the house is so well equipped that we only needed to take very little, even for our daughter. The house was immaculate when we arrived and the clever design means that although it sleeps 10 people it still felt very cosy with just three of us. The room my daughter slept in was perfect and she loved the colourful wall stickers. The kitchen and dining area is very well stocked with useful kitchen crafts and beautiful glassware and crockery. The house is located near to the beautiful beach (20 min walk or 3 mins in car) which is very child friendly and easy to hang out on with young children. There is a great boulangerie in the village and fantastic shops and restaurants in the nearby town of La Tranch. We would recommend this house and the area to anyone but particularly to families. We hope to return to this property again very soon. |

We stayed at the La Terriere villa in August 2011 for one week. We went with another family so there were 4 adults and 6 children in total and there was plenty of space for all of us! The villa is furnished and equipped to a very high standard - really lovely. Big dining table, big enough for all of us, and lovely table on the balcony terrasse, where we ate most of our meals as the weather was so good! There are external stairs and internal open tread stairs but the property is set up with stair gates for young children. Also well equipped with travel cot, high chair etc. Comfortable beds and linen and towels provided which was very much appreciated. There are some outdoor toys for young children such as ride-ons, slide etc, and we also borrowed the body boards for fun on the beach! The villa is only a 15 minute walk from the beach and it's an easy enough walk even for small children or with a pushchair. The local beach is great, huge sandy expanse, great waves, and there is a snack bar on the beach serving very nice sandwiches, chips, ice creams etc. We were very lucky with the weather and made it to the beach every day. The villa is only a short drive or free bus ride (bus stop near the villa) from La Tranche sur Mer, which is a very pleasant town for a wander, visit on market day, or meal in one of the many restaurants. We have been to the Vendee many times and know the region well but this villa would also be perfect for a first trip to the Vendee - high quality accommodation in a great location, well equipped and close to the beach as well as being a short drive from lots of the region's main attractions. |

A group of ten of us (including young children and grandparents) spent a wonderful week at 20 rue de la Mer. The house was perfectly positioned, only a short bicycle or car ride away from a lovely unspoilt beach and within walking distance to a boulangerie and shop. There is also a great walk (or cycle ride) through the woods to the beach. The house accomodated ten of us easily with a spacious bunk room for all of the children and very pleasant bedrooms for the adults. The living areas were very comfortable and the kitchen, very well equipped. The house was clean and well looked after. We particularly enjoyed the terrace and deck areas for al fresco dining and enjoying the sunsets. There is a lot to do in the area and we particularly enjoyed hiring bikes in La Tranche sur Mer, eating out in various recommended restaurants, visiting nearby castles, the Indian Forest rope course and adventure centre and visiting the mosaics at.nearby Sable d'Olonne. We would highly recommend both the house and the area for a holiday for family and friends. |
