About the home

The house will accommodate up to 12 persons ideal for one two or three families!

The ground floor comprises two lounges, a kitchen with dining table for six to eight, a large games room with full sized snooker table, a setee to overlook the game, a table tennis table and a large dining table which can seat 12 and an electronic organ. There is a utility room with two shower cubicles, a sink, a washing machine and two freezer/fridges.

There is also a portable gas barbecue for use on the terrace. There is also another wash-room with shower and a separate toilet.

The bedrooms are situated on both sides of the house each with their own set of stairs. On one side there are exterior stairs leading to two family size rooms each with heir own double beds; one with 3 more single and the other with 2 additional single beds and two skylights! This side also has a double bedroom and a toilet. Each room has its own basin, wardrobe space and drawers.

The other side of the house has an interior staircase leading to three rooms. The first is a cosy room with a bunk bed capable of sleeping two children. The second is a large double bedroom with a skylight, wardrobe and drawers. Lastly, there is a room with a toilet, bidet and large basin.

Can I firstly say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Beaupuy and the children spent many hours either in or by the pool. We investigated parts of the Vendee and beyond and only really had 2 days of poor weather although even those were hot with some rain. We had 2 days at the Puy du Fou and took in the Cinescene, what magnificent shows they all were and wonderful memories to keep. You were correct about TinTin's veg., very reasonable and a lovely tasting vegetables.
Please accept my thanks for facilitating my extended family in your lovely home and we leave with happy memories and stories to relive our 2 weeks and we hope to return in the future.

Facilities

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials such as a sink, oven/grill with 4 hobs, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, microwave and utensils. The cupboards are packed with all the cutlery you need, plates, bowls and cooking equipment. The dining table centres over a beautiful fire place which gives a very cosy feel to the room. This room joins to the games room where there is a table to seat 17, so food can easily be taken out to sit at the larger table if needed.

In the evenings to sit and relax there are three rooms to choose from:

The games room has a rustic feel with many exposed beams, with a table that seats up to 17 people for evening meals; there is also a full size snooker table and table tennis table to entertain the family.

The first lounge has two comfortable settees to sit around chat or watch television or a film on the DVD player provided.

For quiet seclusion, the second lounge is ideal for reading or sitting in front of the gorgeous stone fire place with a glass of wine. This lounge leads to the bedrooms up the stairs and also has its own toilet. The lounge gives access to the utility room which provides two shower cubicles, two fridge/freezers, a basin and a washing machine.

Further details outdoors:
The house has a range of activities to offer from the active to the very relaxing! The games store contains outdoors games such as a cricket set, rounders, bowls, pool floats, tennis rackets and net and badminton rackets and net. These can all be used freely but require replacing into the games store once you are finished with them.
The pool is one of the main features of the house as it provides a large area to sit on sun loungers which are provided together with sun umbrellas. This is a brilliant area to sit, listen to music and bathe in the shining sun! The pool is very large and games can be played in it such as water polo which is our favourite! There are Roman steps leading to an area 1 metre deep where thereafter it descends to 2.5 metres, so diving here is not a problem. A small fence with a gate surrounds the pool to conform with current law, it can be locked to keep the children out when no adults are supervising!

A large car park is provided to the rear of the house which can accommodate up to four average sized cars!

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

..The house, which is built of stone, is situated in a hamlet of three families in the heart of the Vendee, offering peace and tranquility but close to many facilities and places to visit. The immediate neighbours are most friendly and will sell you the most delicious vegetables and eggs...

The La Tranche sur Mer area

For days out there are many excellent beaches nearby and lots of castles to visit. Puy du Fou makes an excellent day out and, in the evening, holds a spectacular son et lumiere which people come to see from all over Europe. The evening Son et Lumiere needs to be booked in advance.

Mervent's Pierre Brun Park has numerous attractions, including bouncing castles, slides, roundabouts, train rides and bumper boats. Poitiers, an hour away, is also worth a visit to Futuroscope which holds excellent displays, simulations and attractions.

There are many restaurants and good shopping at La Roche Sur Yon which is approximately a 15 minute drive away. There is also canoeing available for the adventurous type.The local village has an shop and an excellent restaurant.

For beaches, there is excellent paddling and bathing and beautiful , uncrowded sands at La Tranche Sur Mer, 30 minutes away, and Les Sables d'Olonne.

“big house with loads of character and space” We booked this for a big family reunion (11 people, 3 generations) Loads of space to spread out both indoors and out.. Photos on website very accurate we were not disappointed. Excellentl pool. Minor problem with it was dealt with immediately to our total satisfaction. kitchen a bit tight for creating culinary masterpieces but ok for usual family fodder. easy access from motorway and just 40 minutes to beach/seaside towns. Quiet spot, neighbours didn't seem to mind the noise especially impromptu birhday party. Layout of the house is quirky as it has been adapted and updated over the years but this adds to its charm. We had a great holiday.
