Our apartment can offer you a quiet, relaxing holiday, or a centre for an action-packed break only 20 minutes from the Mar Menor with beaches, promenades, restaurants and opportunities for sailing, diving, water-skiing and other water sports. The La Torre resort offers tennis courts, swimming pools, spa facilities, gym and an amazing golf course, but is also centrally placed just 20 minutes from Murcia city and 30 minutes to the ancient port of Cartagena. The region of Murcia had an abundance of archealogical treasures, historic sites, museums, art and music exhibitions, and picturesque villages. Within short drives you can find local festivals and fiestas, water-parks and zoos. It's also a lovely drive up into the mountains, offering walking, quad-biking, cycling and horse-trekking opportunities. This area really does offer something for everyone - no matter what time of year! Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available within the apartment. There is also an allocated underground car parking space opposite the lift which takes you direct to the apartment.

The lounge is light and airy with comfortable seating for 5 persons. There is an extendable dining table and four chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with a full-size cooker and oven, microwave and dishwasher. A separate laundry area contains a washing machine with 1000 spin speed. We have also supplied a coolbox and cooler packs for those away-day picnics!
The main bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom has two 3 ft singles. The bathroom has a full size bath with shower over, a bidet, WC and washhandbasin. A travel cot and highchair can be hired locally if required (paid for locally).
The whole apartment is kept in tip-top condition and thoroughly cleaned by a local English-speaking couple who manage the apartment for us, and are on hand should you have any problems or enquiries.

The pool complex is landscaped with gardens and flower beds, and contains two large pools with excellent shallow ends for children and a good length for swimming. There is also a small pool which has a low-level jacuzzi action, but is ideal as a separate baby & toddler pool.
The balcony to the front of the lounge is accessed by sliding doors, and double doors off the lounge access a separate sun terrace which runs from front to back of the apartment giving views both south and north. We provide chairs and table on the terrace for al fresco dining, plus two loungers for use on either the balcony or terrace, and two further folding loungers which are lightweight enough to take down to the swimming pool. We also provide 2 folding picnic chairs easy to pack into a car, and a cool box and cooler packs for those away-day picnics! Beach towels are also available at €2 each (payable on arrival).
The apartment is situated opposite the club house and driving range. Special owner rates are available to anyone renting the apartment, representing savings on golf fees and other associated costs. The club house has a lounge and tapas bar, with eating areas overlooking the golf course. There is also a bar during the evening, a pool table and entertainment depending on the time of year.
Just minutes from the apartment is the La Torre "town centre" built along the side of the lake. This area provides a choice of bars and restaurants, with a variety of food choices and range of prices. Some restaurants/bars enable you to sit and enjoy a drink or meal overlooking the beautifully landscaped golf course or the lake. There is also a bank and cash machine located in the town centre, plus hair & beauty salon and taxi rank. During the summer months, fiestas and events are organised and although some of the facilities are withdrawn during the winter months the quietness of the resort has its own appeal!
Just a few minutes walk from the apartment is the La Torre 5* Hotel with heated indoor pool, gym, sauna and spa facilities - extra charges apply.
Bicycles are available for hire from the supermarket on a daily or weekly basis for both children and adults.
There is a tennis court a short walk from the apartment, which is free to use for occupants of the apartment, and game times can be booked. Tennis lessons are available at certain times of the year.
Please note a one-off charge of 60 Euros is payable on arrival to our keyholders. This charge covers your Meet & Greet at the resort, final cleaning, laundry charge, and the services of the lovely English-speaking couple who look after the apartment for us. They will be able to give you additional information about La Torre and its surroundings, and will be on hand should you have any problems or questions during your stay. This charge will be quoted on every enquiry. There is also a returnable deposit payable for the underground garage key fob if guests wish to use the allocated parking. There is plenty of road parking available outside the apartment building, however, there is an allocated underground parking space opposite the lift that takes you direct to the apartment.

A deposit of £100 is payable on booking, and the balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival at the apartment. A refundable security deposit of £100 is also required.
The Murcia region
Being in the southern region of Spain, Murcia offers one of the most pleasant climates in Europe, with mild winters, hot (but not oppressive) summers and an average of 320 sunny days a year. The average hours of sunshine per day range from around 6 hours in winter to a full 12 hours at the height of summer. Inland from the Mar Menor, the area is a prime growing region, with much of its fruit, vegetables and salads heading for the UK!
Rain on the Costa Calida is rare, especially in the summer months - the total annual rainfall averages 5 to 6 cm (2 to 2 1/2 inches) on the coastal plain, although the inland mountainous areas are slightly wetter.
Very much less developed than other regions in Spain, villages hold local fiestas, and the cities of Murcia and Cartegena offer something for everyone with modern facilities and historic areas living cheek by jowl.
The Mar Menor, just 20 minutes from La Torre, has a wide range of water activities, plus easily accessible beaches, which never seem to get too crowded, even in high season.
The La Torre Golf Resort area
La Torre is built around a 18 hole golf course and is beautifully landscaped with wide boulevards and gardens, and plenty of car-parking spaces by the apartment.
La Torre is a very large resort, so many of its apartments are quite some way from the resort centre & clubhouse, but our spacious apartment is just a few minutes from the centre, the clubhouse, the driving range, the supermarket and the hotel, and overlooks 2 swimming pools, a toddler pool and children's play area - you never need to get in your car!
The large, airy apartment and balcony overlook the pool complex, and the adjacent terrace is dual aspect with views of the pools and also the driving range and golf course.
Just a few minutes walk from the apartment is a large supermarket, offering a home delivery service, which stocks local produce as well as many brands familiar to those from the UK. In the same precinct as the supermarket there is also a newsagent and gift shop, which offers both adult and child bikes for hire.
Adjacent to the lake, and just a stone's throw from the apartment, a resort centre has been built with restaurants, cafes and bars. July and August offers holidaymakers extra entertainment, a children's club, and a bus from the Resort to the beach bar. There is also an impressive 5* hotel on the site, with spa, a conference centre and a large golf clubhouse. The resort centre also has a bank, medical care, hairdressing & beauty salon, and taxi rank.
La Torre is located 20 minutes from the Mar Menor and its amazing beaches and water-sports, and centrally between the cities of Murcia and Cartegena (20 minutes). It is also only 30 minutes from the Sierra Espuna National Park. Murcia is a region rich in history, and it is well worth checking out the Murcia Tourist Board website to discover just how many festivals and events are on offer throughout the year.
As well as if the challenge of the Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole course, staying at La Torre also gives you the opportunity to play at other Polaris World golf courses in the region, with a free bus operating throughout the day. Tee times can be booked from the free telephone in the apartment. You can even hire manual trolleys, electric trolleys or electric buggies.
The golf course offers a natural grass driving range with 20 bays, putting and chipping green and a practice bunker, and golf lessons are available. Staying at our apartment also enables you to take advantage of special owner rates, which represent a considerable saving on normal prices - details and forms to present to the Clubhouse are available in the apartment.
The Mar Menor is the largest lagoon in Europe and has a surface area of 130 sq km and a maximum depth of 8 metres. The crystal clear waters are warm, calm and rich in salts and minerals, in fact the temperature never falls below 18degrees. In certain areas of the Mar Menor the therapeutic clays can be found, these are a favourite with the Spanish tourists, who cover themselves with the clay and then bake in the hot sun. It is said to be good for skin complaints, rheumatism and arthritis etc.

How to get there

A number of low-cost airlines fly direct to Murcia (San Javier) airport from many UK airports, and the apartment is only 15 minutes' drive away.
You can also fly into Alicante if you don't mind a drive of just over an hour. But the roads are good and the drive is easy. Don't forget prices for low-cost airlines can change almost hour by hour, so it's worth checking them out at different times.
A car is not essential if you just want to chill out! The golf course is across the road, there are 2 swimming pools below the apartment, and tennis courts a short walk away. The apartment has a balcony and an amazing sun terrace for relaxing and sunbathing. There is also a 5* hotel just a few minutes' walk from the apartment, which offers an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, and various health and spa treatments. There is a large supermarket, with daily fresh bread, and a choice of restaurants within a few minutes' walk. And for occasional trips, there is a taxi rank/office two minutes' walk away. On arrival at the airport, there are taxis available, or we can arrange transfers, payable locally.
If you do hire a car, there are so many wonderful places to visit in the region - trips to the beach, a day in the mountains, exploring the historic cities of Cartegena and Murcia (or enjoying their nightlife!), local fiestas and markets - car rental is a definite bonus. We use Auto Europe or through the airlines ourselves, but there are many to choose from and with most of them you pick up your car at the airport. A small number "shuttle" you to a local venue.
La Torre is a 20 minute drive away from the Mar Menor, which is an exceptional area for water-based activities, with miles of beautiful child-friendly beaches. There are also many other Mediterranean beaches within easy reach.

We had a very relaxing week and it was nice to be able to sit outside on the terrace for a bit of warm winter sunshine.
We did not leave the resort all week and found plenty of places to eat and a well stocked and inexpensive supermarket all within a five minutes walk from the apartment.
The apartment was spotlessly clean, fully equipped and furnished to a very high standard.
For someone wishing to explore the region a hire car would be essential but as we were there just to read and "chill out" we arranged to be met and returned to the local airport.
I would unhesitatingly recommend this apartment to friends and family.
We enjoyed it so much that we have booked the owners other apartment at La Manga during October.

Booked Ann's penthouse for 4 weeks in July and was not disappointed. Argueably the best location in La Torre - close to all amenities such as supermarket, clubhouse, town centre (restaurants and bars) and 2 well kept pools. Ann's pre holiday correspondence was both informative and well timetabled. The apartment itself was in very good order. It contained everything that you would expect and indeed needed to enjoy a home from home holiday. Beds were very comfortable and all linen was in good order. The extra patio space was useful for drying any laundry. The importance of air conditioning units in the living room and each of the 2 bedrooms should not be undervalued. The free wifi a must in this day and age!
All in all an extremely good choice of apartment and would recommend.
