REVIEWS (from guests pre-Holiday-Lettings)

1. Super apartment, love the look of the slightly vintage furniture, it gives the place real character, different from your average holiday apartment. It has all the mods cons I needed, international TV channels via a digi-box linked to the great old Bang and Olufsson TV, Internet connectivity via cable (supplied) or free WiFi access . It was really comfortable, slept so well. Even though we stayed in August the place never got too hot and we didn't need the AC at all - a through breeze when kitchen doors were open kept it cool, and the ceiling fans were more than enough at night.. We just relaxed by the pool most days which was warm and gorgeous and we had a choice of three within a few seconds stroll from the garden gate - fantastic not having to heave sun loungers up and down in lifts. Didn't find not having a car an issue, enjoyed some local vibe in the nearby towns which we cycled to, and took the odd day trip from Balsicas. No hassles losing our way or car parking issues! I would definitely stay again, thoroughly recommend this place if you are looking for a real home from home.

2.We stayed in the apartment over Christmas 2012 and found it very cosy, clean and comfortable. Delightful view from the verandah particularly at night when the town across the way lit up and looked like fairyland. In the flat we had everything we needed for a real escape from the hectic kind of UK Christmas we have endured in the past (but wished we had remembered the Xmas pud, couldn't find one here!) . The resort is quiet then which we loved, and we used it as a base for going on day trips to the two cities Murcia and Cartagena very close really - as much Christmas atmosphere as we needed in both. Weather was perfect, not a drop of rain the whole time and not cold so we were able to be very active, cycling and walking. We mean to come back and explore the nature parks in the area next time, Excellent holiday, excellent accommodation, charming owner who was most helpful at every stage of our decision making.

3. I loved this apartment it was so cool. I thought it had a lot of atmosphere, no mass produced Chinese made junk here..Beds were very comfortable and we had really good sleeps, especially after a day on the links and a good massage.over at the hotel..Came for the golf so was really happy to be on the second fairway, short walk across to the clubhouse to start the day, We tried out a couple of the other courses as well, just for variety. La Torre was probably the most challenging! We ate out a lot so can't comment of the kitchen though it seemed to have all the usual stuff. Local restaurants both on and off La Torre were pretty decent and the resort supermarket had all the rest, fresh bread several times a day was nice, and plenty of well priced wine on offer too. Wish we had made the time to go down to Semana Santa in Cartagena, pretty spectacular by all accounts. We'll come back for that, this place is ideally located to get there , short hop down the motorway or even better a train from the town down the road so no problem with parking for a change.

The Murcia region

Murcia is the warmest driest region of Spain making it ideal for sporting or relaxing holidays all year round. Golf courses abound in the region - you can play 6 different ones from La Torre. Swimming pool water is warm from May/June to October and the sea in the Mar Menor is several degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. The beaches on Mar Menor are delightfully Spanish in character with a splendid promenade for long walks or cycle rides, lots of bars and restaurants along the way for seaside refreshment. At Lo Pagan there are free therapeutic mud baths available, just remember to wash the mud off in the water it came from and not the other (swimming) side of the causeway! The causeway leads to a nature reserve where you can wander among the dunes, see flamingoes and avocets, etc, on the salt pans, or carry on walking/cycling/driving right to the end where you will find the new marina. Here you can charter a boat for trips across the Mar Menor or further afield. There is also a thermal spa hotel at Lo Pagan.

The two nearest cities are Murcia with its university, theatres, museums and beautiful Cathedral, and Cartagena with its Roman Theatre, and beautiful pedestrianised shopping precinct leading down to the picturesque harbour. Easter is a special time at Cartagena with the spectacular Semana Santa processions through the streets.

San Javier, just 20 minutes down the road towards the beach, has a great annual Jazz Festival every July. Lo Ferro, which is a small village on the way to Roldan about two km away, holds a Flamenco Festival in August.- go for true Spanish atmosphere, enjoy hot chocolate and churros afterwards!

La Torre Golf Resort

The immediate area is the golf resort of La Torre where one can spend a very relaxing week or so without feeling the need to leave. Here you can swim, sunbathe, catch up on your reading, walk to the shops for freshly baked bread and all essentials, dine out or in, go for sunset strolls around the golf course (not during playing hours) or along the lovely ramblas of the town centre. Just chilling. You can also play golf!

Or you can indulge in a little luxury at the superb five star Hotel Intercontinental, just a minute's walk from the apartment. Here you will find smart bars and restaurants (Asian/Peruvian cuisine), a delicious spa with warm pool, cool gym and all the treatments and massages you desire. There are very affordable membership rates - daily or weekly as well as monthly or annual passes giving access to the pool and gym. Exercise classes and treatments are extra of course.

La Torre has two tennis courts which you might need to book in high season.

The Town Centre with its very attractive lakeside setting is a great place to enjoy a meal or drink in beautiful surroundings, enjoy some Spanish tapas or icecream or join the lively crowd at the irish Sports Tavern. A hairdressing/beauty salon, pharmacy, bank and supermarket should supply all your holiday needs.

If you get itchy feet and want to get out and about - without a car - you can hire bicycles at the shop opposite the supermaket and cycle down to Balsicas (about 15 minutes away) where there is a good regular bus service down to the beach at Santiago de la Ribera (a short walk from the bus stop) or Lo Pagan (bus drops you right beside the sea). In the opposite direction the bus will take you to Murcia. No parking hassles. From the train station in Balsicas there are trains to Cartagena, Murcia, Madrid and Valencia. Timetables available on request when you book the apartment.

There is also a regular bus service from the Intercontinental Hotel to the beach in July and August which is available to non-residents as well as hotel guests.

"A beautiful condo, perfectly located within the resort"

Stayed here in August and was truly amazed by how beautiful it was! The very best thing about it to me was the location of the condo within the huge resort grounds, there are many 'roads' surrounding the whole resort and some of these where some distance to the 'town centre' - where you can find various restaurants, bars and supermarket, but the condo is within easy walking distance not only from the town centre but also has two amazing swimming pools either side of the condo less than a minute away! it overlooks the 2nd tee the views are perfect and sitting outside with a nice cold glass of wine at sundown watching the golfers playing was so relaxing. The condo has two large bedrooms and the beds are very comfortable. I agree with previous reviews with regards to the cool rooms, just having the fans on was sufficient we certainly didn't need to use the air conditioning! It is a little way to the nearest town centre and beach, so I would recommend hiring a car although we didn't as we were happy to stay on the complex every day. We walked over to the town centre every evening and found the drinks in the bars surprisingly reasonable, the Clover Bar, offering happy hours every night from 6 til 8 and the golf bar offering 10 bottles of beer for 10 euros! Food was also reasonable and each restaurant had lovely views over the golf course. My brother played on the course and loved it, he said it was a great experience! Finally, the price of the condo... what can I say? Amazing value. Needless to ask, would I go back? Absolutely! Thank you for a great stay.

Thank you for your very kind words! I would be delighted to have you to stay again whenever you like with a 10% discount!

"Well managed, simple apartment, quiet and next to all the facilities you'll need."

Simple apartment with nice touches of vintage furniture, 1 minute to the pool, 5 minutes to the supermarket. The management were impeccable when I had a problem, the instructions for utilities were clear and the whole area was spotless. Thank You London 2013

Thank you and I am glad you found everything to your satisfaction, I have passed your compliments on to Pam, she was very appreciative.
