Bathe in the balmy mediterranean sea or the fabulous Mar Menor, a great saltwater lagoon which because it is shallow is as warm as taking a bath! Perfect for watersports, or family fun splashing around with the children. The Mar Menor is Europe's largest lagoon and is contained by a narrow strip of land known as La Manga which separates it from the sea. It is however open to the Mediterranean at its tip. It is a haven for unique flora and fauna with its salt marshes, and little islands.
The Mar Menor is surrounded by resort villages and towns such as Lo Pagan and Santiago de la Ribera. Both have beautiful beaches and there is a 4km promenade linking the two resorts. At night Los Alcazares comes to life, buzzing with atmosphere in the many beach front bars, restaurants and cafes.
There are smaller villages nearby, such as Los Urrutias, Los Nietos, Mar de Cristal, and Playa Honda all with good beaches and pretty marinas.
To the south of the Mar Menor is the world famous La Manga Club, a renowned centre for sports, with three championship golf courses and a host of recreational activities. You may enjoys seeing if you can spot the 'rich and famous'!
The Costa Calida meaning 'warm coast' is the name given to the coastline of the Murcia region, which stretches from the Mar Menor to the fishing town of Aguilas. The sea offers clear sparkling water and on land you have the luxurious, long sandy beaches or enchanting little bays to choose from. There are a variety of blue flag beaches just minutes away from your holiday home by car, so you really can pick and choose to suit your taste, then relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
