The Provence region
The Var department is situated west of its famous neighbour Côte d’Azur. With its beautiful landscape with both mountains and sea and its sunny Mediterranean weather it is a popular holiday destination all year round.
Along its 300-km long coast, you will find some stylish seaside resorts like glitzy St Tropez and Ste Maxime, as well as some smaller but equally beautiful and charming resorts like Bandol or Le Lavandou.
The beautiful Iles d'Or (Porquerolles, Ile du Levant and Pors Cros) are also well worth a visit and can be reached by boat from La Tour Fondue near Hyères. Inland, you will find delightful and unspoilt hilltop villages and further to the north, the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon with its many water sports and activities.
At the foot of Cap CICIÉ, La Seyne sur Mer, Southern Maritime town. Open to the bay of Toulon and the high seas.
A rich naval tradition is in harmony with this lively coastal town. Fisherman sell their catch in the port daily and holidaymakers will appreciate the busy town, the sandy beaches (les Sablettes) and the evening walks along the promenades. Watersports galore.

Sanary sur Mer. 10 km. Delightful seaside resort with picturesque quay, colourful houses, lively streets and terraces shaded by palm trees. Beautiful views from its 16th century Chapel Notre Dame de Pitié, over the coast and the small islands that lie offshore.
Bandol. 18 km. Family seaside resort tucked in a cove between La Ciotat and Toulon. A vibrant harbour packed with fine shops and restaurants as well as a casino. Also renowned for its vineyards producing some of the best wines on the coast.
St Cyr sur Mer. 25 km. In a bay sheltering 3 little harbours and a 2-km long sandy beach, an attractive coastal setting backed by a mix of pine forests and renowned vineyards. Many watersports activities available.
Le Castellet. 25 km. A stunning medieval hill top village in a typical Provencal and picturesque setting, and one of the area's top tourist attractions. Also famous for its Paul Ricard race track.

Le Royaume des Arbres, Le Castellet. 25 km. Tree top adventure park. One of the largest park in Europe, situated next to the famous Paul Ricard race track. 260 workshops and 11 trails for all abilities and ages. It boasts 2 giant zip lines of 250m and 150m long and 25m high; thrills guaranteed!
Hyères. 30 km. Attractive seaside resort with walled and medieval centre, once the favourite summer resort of celebrities, some of the intellectual elite and the rich. The town and its peninsula have almost 40 km of pristine sand beaches and rocky inlets to offer.
La Ciotat. 40 km. Delightful seaside resort with excellent beach, fabulous rocky inlets, old picturesque fishing port and great Mediterranean atmosphere.
Iles d'Hyères. 45 km. Group of islands off the coast from Hyères, which includes the islands of Porquerolles, Le Levant and Port Cros (National Park). The 3 car-free islands together form a rare and beautiful environment, one of the loveliest in France. Boat crossings from Hyères, Giens peninsula, Le Lavandou, Toulon.
Cassis. 45 km. Chic seaside resort at the foot of the tall Cap Canaille cliff, with picturesque fishing port lined with attractive traditional pastel painted buildings and plenty of cafes and restaurants.
