Chalet Ribot specializes in ski and cycling accommodation on Alpe d'Huez. The chalet is nestled in the tiny hamlet of Ribot Huez on hairpin 12 of the infamous Alpe d'Huez. This 200 year old traditional mountain house has been carefully renovated and transformed into 4 beautiful self contained apartments all within the main chalet.
In the winter season, Chalet Ribot is a catered ski chalet on Alpe d'Huez, which can also offer self catered ski accommodation.
In the summer season (April -Oct) we offer catered cycling accommodation on Alpe d'Huez, with the option to choose self catered cycling accommodation if you wish.

Cycle friendly Chalet Ribot offers specialist cycling accommodation on Alpe d'Huez for both road cycling and mountain biking. It is also in the ideal location for holiday makers wishing to enjoy the many activities in the local area. From climbing to rafting, cycling, horse riding, mountain biking and swimming, there is something for everyone! The Chalet also offers specialist cycling accommodation on Alpe d'Huez for some of the thousands of visitors who flock to the area to enjoy the gruelling climbs and exhilarating descents offered by the French Alpes. Local climbs include Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, and Col du Glandon to name a few. At the Chalet we have details of all the local cycling climbs, a bike wash area, secure bike shed and all the tools you may need! If you fancy taking part in the famous, 'La Marmotte' race or would like to enjoy the Alpe d'Huez stage of the Tour De France, then Chalet Ribot is perfect for your cycling holiday!
For those looking for a little more danger, Alpe d'Huez and the neighbouring resort of Les 2 Alpes offer all levels of cross country and downhill mountain bike tracks. The Mountain of Hell and Megavalanche downhill mountain bike races are hosted by both Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes.
Chalet Ribot is a catered ski chalet offering both catered ski accommodation and self catering ski accommodation, just below the high altitude resort of Alpe d'Huez. The Alpe d'Huez ski area on your Visalp ski pass includes the satellite villages of Vaujany, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans making this one of the largest ski areas in Europe. Alpe d'Huez offers fantastic opportunities for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers alike. High altitude and glacier skiing offers fantastic conditions even in the mildest of winters. Alpe d'Huez has recently invested further in its already impressive snow-making facilities. Thanks to the high altitude and these new facilities, Alpe d'Huez is guaranteed to open for the first weekend in December, so you can benefit from early season deals on flights and accommodation.
The resort of Alpe d'Huez has over 238 km of linked pistes and is home to the famous Pic Blanc. The Sarenne, the world's longest black ski piste is 16 km in length and departs from an incredibly high altitude of over 3,000 meters. This ski run then descends over 2200m in vertical drop (one hour of downhill skiing!) delivering you back to the Altiport. Alpe d'Huez is linked to the resorts of Vaujany, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans, also known as Oz.
Alpe d'Huez also has 20 legendary off piste ski routes, one half pipe and a snow park, night time skiing ,night time sledging piste with chair lift and a fantastic choice of après ski bars and restaurants . If you want more then why not visit Les 2 Alpes, it is right next door and you have 2 days visit included on the six-day Visalp ski pass.

The chalet is a catered chalet in the ski season and offers cycling accommodation in the summer season. Its location offers tranquil accommodation on Alpe d'Huez a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of this cosmopolitan resort. Our Chalet can offer both catered accommodation and self catering accommodation on Alpe d'Huez. The chalet is at an elevation of 1200 meters and is surrounded by pine forests and overlooks the valley of Bourg d'Oisans, the views from the Chalet are truly awe inspiring.
The Chalet (Chambre d'Hote), boasts a magnificent communal lounge which has its original vaulted ceiling, open log fire and spectacular south facing views overlooking the valley of Bourg d'Oisans and surrounding mountain ranges. Breakfast and evening meals are served in this lounge, where our banqueting style table offers the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and discuss the days adventures! A warm, cosy lounge area provides seating for all our guests with home comforts such as English satellite TV, 42 inch plasma, DVD, play station, games and books.
All our meals are home cooked with the freshest local ingredients. Our winter menu offers our guests a taste of some of the regional specialities such as the beautifully decadent 'Tartiflette'. In contrast our summer menu is geared towards the health conscious cycling and active clients, offering low fat dishes such as the traditional Spanish 'Potatas Bravas'. We invite our guests to kick back and relax by the open log fire, after a tiring day of cycling or the slopes and let us take care of everything!
Chalet Ribot offers catered accommodation and self catered accommodation on Alpe d'Huez. The chalet is comprised of four self contained apartments, all within the main house. Each apartment is unique in size and style and can accommodate between two to five people, with a maximum of 15 persons at any one time . The apartments within the main chalet are completely self contained with their own entrance, offering privacy to our individual groups of clients. Each apartment has its own kitchenette, lounge, shower room, WC and bedroom.
The layout of the Chalet provides our guests with the opportunity to choose between self catered accommodation or half board accommodation. Our half board guests are invited to enjoy their breakfast and evening meal in the Chalet's principal lounge. Those opting for self catered accommodation can avail of the local supermarkets or the many restaurants in Alpe d'Huez and the village of Bourg d'Oisans.
Chalet Ribot welcomes groups of all sizes from couples to extended families or large groups of friends. Our Self catering accommodation prices range from 35 euros per person per night to 54 euros per person per night, depending on the time of season. Catered accommodation is available from 59 euros per person per night to 89 euros per person per night, again depending on the time of season. Children under five years are free of charge and those between the ages of five and twelve are offered a 20% discount.
Chalet Ribot offers a flexible changeover day policy, so as to provide our guests with the opportunity to avoid Saturday traffic and to avail of the more reasonably priced mid week flights.
Chalet Ribot is less that an hours drive by bus or car from Grenoble city centre.

What makes us a cycle specific chalet?
Daniel and Susan who own and run Chalet Ribot are keen riders themselves. Daniel is an ex-road rider turned cross country mountain biker who is now an avid fan of downhill mountain biking. We know what cyclists want and need, comfortable beds, hot powerful showers, relaxed and cosy atmosphere and most importantly, fantastic home cooked, healthy food, with man sized portions! The chalet has its very own bike shed with work shop, wash area for cleaning the bikes down, track pumps, bike stands, jigs and a large selection of specially made riding maps and guides for all the routes in the area. Each one of the chalets within the main house has an extensive, up to date collection of road riding and mountain bike magazines for you to enjoy at your leisure. The location of our chalet on Alpe d'Huez means that you have the perfect base from which to climb some of cycling's most famous Cols. Local climbs include Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, Col du Glandon, Col de Telegraphe, Col de Lautaret, Les Deux Alpes, Col d'Ornon and of course the legendary Alpe d'Huez, to name a few!
Alpe d'Huez is, of course, famous for the Tour de France, which passes right outside our front door, as well as La Marmotte race, La Vaujany and many other sportifs. Every Thursday you can take part in the Alpe d'Huez time trial. Cyclists of all levels can join in, free of charge, you even get a lead team support car which blasts out a running commentary and music on its P.A system. This should help spur you on, as you climb the 21 hairpins to the summet of Alpe d'Huez and the Tour de France finish line. Fancy a crack at Marco Pantani's record time of 36 minutes 50 seconds?? Chalet Ribot offers cycling accommodation on Alpe d'Huez for cyclists of all disciplines and abilities. We mostly accommodate road cyclists but also welcome mountain bikers with open arms as Daniel is a keen downhill mountain biker himself. Chalet Ribot is in a perfect location to offer you access to both the resorts of Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes. Both areas have an incredible array of downhill runs, cross country trails and free ride routes accompanied by multiple 4x tracks, bike parks, dirt jumps and North Shore structures.
Both Alpe d'Huez and Les2 Alpes rival any other European bike resort with over 65 dedicated bike trails between them. Alpe d'Huez is home to the world famous Megavalanche downhill race, part of the Megavalanche cup trophy. The Megavalanche involves over 2,000 downhill mountain bikers departing from the glacier at Pic Blanc, at an elevation of 3,330 meters and descending over 8,500 feet, ending in the mountain village of Allemont. The Megavalanche course is 32 km long. The pros can complete the Megavalanche course in under 48 minutes, but for mere mortals like you and I, you're looking at a decent lasting an incredible 1hour and 40 minutes. If however, you are looking for more gentle mountain biking, both Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes cater for all levels of mountain biker, with a choice of green runs for all the family, blue through to red and of course black runs. So, for your next mountain bike holiday, why travel to the other side of the world or the far reaches of Europe when you have all this right here on Alpe d'Huez.
