La Belle Cachette is located at the end of a quiet cul de sac on the edge of a lively market town within easy walking distance to the market square with superb open air market, daily indoor market with superb choice of fresh food, wonderful restaurants and bars, cafes, mediaeval chateau walls, river walks and parkland,
This lovely old former farmhouse sleeps up to 8 (plus cot) and comprises 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room on the first floor and an extra ground floor day room with double sofa bed overlooking the pool.
Large beamed kitchen/diner, very well equipped, and beamed salon with open fire and 3 sofas and armchair.
There are 2 bathrooms, one on each floor . The downstairs shower room has shower with hydromassaging body jets, marble vanity unit and wc. The upstairs bathroom has bath with overhead shower, twin basins in marble vanity unit and separate wc. Both bathrooms newly installed last year.
There is an additional ground floor reading room with sofa and armchair.
Walled garden with lawn, palms and 10x5 metre private floodlit swimming pool, covered veranda for al fresco dining with BBQ, sun loungers, parasols and garden furniture.

Our lovely old town has approx a dozen superb restaurants (even one boasting a Michelin star) and several bars.all within 5-10 minutes walk so you can enjoy your holiday without the need to drive everywhere. Internet cafe in town.
With our micro climate it can be warm from April-October

The La Rochelle / Surgeres area
La Belle Cachette is located on the edge of a lively market town, within easy reach of the chic city of La Rochelle, with its sailing harbour, magnificent beaches and the nearby wonderful islands of Ile d'Oleron and Ile de Ré. You can even take a ferry to Fort Boyard. Golf and tennis is available nearby. The town has its own cinema and fine sporting complex. There is so much to do and see in this area, from the Roman town of Saintes, Royan with its nearby Zoo, the delights of Cognac (tasting a must!), a leisurely boat trip on the canals of the Marais Poitevin (known locally as the Green Venice) and Poitiers the home of Futuroscope (France's second most popular attraction to Disneyland, Paris) - all within a day trip.
The Charente Maritime revels in its own micro climate. Reputedly 2,300 hours of sunshine every year.
Beautiful countryside is on your doorstep and magnificent beaches, historic towns and villages, extensive fields of sunflowers and vineyards are all not far away. La Rochelle is generally considered to be the most beautiful port in France - fresh oysters and mussels and wonderful seafood are waiting to be experienced. During the summer months the local cultural groups organise a variety of events for everyone to enjoy

La Belle Cachette is a beautiful property located perfectly within Surgeres, near to the shops, bars, restaurants and railway station. The lovely farmshoue is very well kept and has everything you need for a holiday home and more. The pool is a glorious bonus! Not overlooked, many evenings can be spent al fresco dining overlooking the pool and garden. The location of La Belle Cachette means it is easy to get to La Rochelle, either by road or rail, as well as other places in the region. Bastille day in Suregeres was a real treat and the locals extremely friendly and welcoming. Didn't want to leave! |
