Our countryside property is situated in the hamlet of La Poulaillerie which is located 2km from the nearest village.
There is a wide choice of good supermarkets,shops,bars,restaurants,banks in Surgeres 10 minutes away by car or pleasant cycle ride.In Surgeres and Vandre there are outdoor heated swimming pools.
We are 30 minutes from the historical port of La Rochelle and the beaches of Chatelaillon Plage. The islands of Ile de Re and Ile de Oleron are within reach also Royan, Cognac and Saintes are worth a visit. Ideal for a relaxing family holiday and a good location for walking,cycling and sailing.

Situated in the south-west of France. the region is great for walking and cycling , for those keen on exploring the lovely countryside there are plenty of marked cycle routes. It is a fun way to see the beauty of the surroundings.
Great location for a relaxing family holiday and within easy reach of La Rochelle for the beaches and sailing.
The long summer months are ideal for al fresco dining and lazy days.The beaches south of La Rochelle are great for a family day out .In La Rochelle there is a small animal park,great for children,lots of lovely shops and chic boutiques,plentry of restaurants,cafes and a must visit to Ernest icecream shop.A great place to watch the world go by and also keep the children happy.
La Rochelle / Surgeres area
The nearest village is Vandre, it has a bakers,butchers and small bar. A 15 minute cycle ride from the house down single track lanes will take you into the village where there is a local outdoor swimming pool open July and August and a great small bakery for your breakfast croissants and baguettes.The local butcher is very friendly and also has a market stall on Saturday ,Tuesday and Thursday in Surgeres.The market is great for practicing your french with the locals.
Surgeres has many shops,an indoor market,3 supermarkets and some good restaurants and is 10km away. Plenty of attractions nearby, from the miniature boats at St Savinien(fun for adults and children) to the ancient roman town of Saintes,with its great roman amphitheaters.
