One of six ancient cottage from 2 to 6 bedrooms fully restored in recent years. each with private fenced gardens and big communal gardens all walled-in, children's play area, fenced swimming pool 16 x 8 metres, full secure parking facilities. Wi Fi, Microwave, dishwasher, TV, DVD, washing machine, stair gates. Linen, cot & high chair can be hired. Spacious and loaded with charm. Edge of village not far from the old port of Marennes, opposite the island of Oleron. Ideal cycling country. Markets, wines, chateaux, golf, Fort Boyard, water sports, riding, cycling. Enquire for rates for 4 bed and six bed cottages. All cottages are equipped as described but differ only in charecter and number of bedrooms seating facilities etc. The four bedroom cottage has a shower room and a bathroom and the six bed is two three bed cottages that can interconnect.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region
This area boasts a micro-climate with as many hours of sunshine as the Med. A short drive takes you to the famous medeival port of La Rochelle, or to the ancient Roman town of Saintes or to the lively resort of Royan. The area is rich in histroy and has lots to see and do at any time of year and for all age groups.
There are no high-rises here and you can enjoy a quiet holiday all the while being close to lively places to go.
La Rochelle area
There is an excellent zoo at La Palmyre, also a good golf course. The island of Oleron is just a few minutes' drive with cycle tracks and all water sports. La Rochelle is probably the most famous town in this area, along with Fort Boyard where the TV games are held. The Roman town of Saintes is well worth a visit (stunning amphitheatre among other things) and the old military town of Rochefort with its famous fortifications is nearby. Royan is a relatively new town, having been blitzed during World War II, but nonetheless boasts miles of sandy beach and lots of restaurants. Visit the markets, chateaux, picturesque rivers, taste the local wines and eat at a wealth of seafood restaurants. Sporting opportunities are also abundant with cycling, golf, diving and other water sports. Swimming is ideal for young children as the coast is protected by the island; alternatively there are several surfing beaches within a short drive of the properties. Out of peak season we do organized cycling and/or wine-tasting parties. There is an excellent zoo at La Palmyre and the aquarium at La Rochelle is wonderful.
How to get there
Airport at La Rochelle with flights from Stanstead and Portsmouth. Ryan air does deals often £10 plus taxes. St Malo is the nearest port 5 hours drive. Calais is about 8 hours drive. Full details when you book

Further details indoors: Caretakers live on site to welcome you. They will provide linen at 14 Euros pp if required. There is a games room with table football, books, videos, DVDs, ping-pong and in the grounds basket ball and informal facilities for games of badminton, football, volley ball etc. Each cottage has its own private garden patio and barbeque as well as the big shared grounds and the 15 metre decked pool. It is a short stroll through woodland in to the village which has all essential shops.
Further details outdoors: Large shared grounds as well as private garden. The garden is fenced with a gate and a 2 metre high wall surrounds the main grounds. Swings, slide, sand pit, and big toys available. Areas for Football, basket ball and volley ball also table tennis, mini football. Secure parking.

Pets allowed but not in peak season. Please always check with the owners first. Changover days Saturday, arrivals after 3pm depart by 10am except sometimes by arrangement. Winter lets at special rates can be discussed.

A deposit of 150 Euros is payable in cash on arrival against breakages,please ensure that you have this with you on arrival, it is refunded on the day of departure. arrangement. A deposit is payable with booking and the balance by arrangement.
