A french village 4 bedroomed house that sleeps up to 8, with heated pool, south facing terrace and fishing lake.
A restored village house in La Roche Posay, Vienne, France, 20 meters from the center place. Thistle House is split over 3 floors with a kitchen/dining-room and lounge on the ground floor, giving access to a south facing terrace equipped with exterior dining for 8 and bbq. The floor above has a twin bedroom, double bedroom and shower room with massage shower. The top floor has a twin bedroom, double bedroom and bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The house if fully equipped to aid your holiday enjoyment and baby equipment is available on demand. The house is of traditional build with the original wooden spiral staircase, traversant layout and mansard roof, however it has been fully modernised for 2014.
5 mins walk from the house is a shared heated swimming pool. The pool is secured by a surrounding fence and door access. 5 km from the house you have weekday access to our fishing lake with parking facilities.
Thistle House is open all year round and is let from a Saturday to Saturday in high season. The weekly price (inclusive of all bed linen, towels and dish towels) varies from £ 500 to £ 650 depending on the season.

Come and holiday at Thistle House so that you are ideally placed to see the beautiful Vienne and Indre et Loire regions.
You may like to visit some of the many historic buildings and villages such as Angle sur Anglin fortress, Richelieu, city of cardinals, Saint Savin Abbey etc There is of course Poitiers, the town itself full of interest and also the awarding winning Futuroscope.
For arts and crafts there is lace making at Angle sur Anglin and at Montmorillon the Cité de l'Écrit, a literacy heaven and not to mention the famous macaroons! The area is a favorite for arts, sculptures and potters alike.
Sports lovers will be in their glory. River sports such a canoeing, boating, fishing, sailing, are available in most river villages. Golf, tennis and boules are renowned. Horse and Donkey trips are a specialty with the Vienne Donkey sanctory on your doorstep.
Do not forget the wine! Take an organised tour or meander through Angers tasting the Anjou and Savennieres, Saumer for Champigny and Mousseau, Chinon for its delicious Cabernet, Bourgueil for its St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Vouvray for sweet wine lovers, Montlouis for chenin blanc, Pouilly-sur-Loire for its renowned Pouilly-Fumé and its sister village across the river for Sancerre. Or take a chance on Menetou-Salon which produces Sauvignon Blanc but not with the same price tag as its sister villages. Just a small taster of the wines in store for you!
La Roche Posay
La Roche Posay has a wealth of shops and activities available all year round. It has 1700 inhabitants and a plethora of facilities.
The market in the village square which is just around the corner from Thistle House is a bustling hive of activity Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays from 08h00-14h00.
Tuesday is the big market day, where you can find local produce fresh from the fields. Delicatessen stalls selling spices, saucisse, cheeses, meats, wines and homemade chocolates and macaroons - you are often invited to taste the goodies on offer.
Artisans come from far and wide, who have made their own jewelry, soaps, sculptures, paintings etc There are sellers of clothes, furniture and even the kitchen sink!
In the village center there are a varied choice of shops and boutiques, chemists and bakers - Muriel and Seb make the most exquisite cakes and tarts and their warm bread is a must! There are many convivial bars and restaurants to cater for tastes traditional and modern. There is a small store within the center and just on the outskirts of the village there is a large supermarket, Super U.
La Roche Posay is a medieval fortified village. There are many of the original buildings still standing. Organised walks are held around the village and you can also request a 'treasure map' from the local tourist office that leads you around the village in search of certain icons! Beware you do not get captured and thrown into the ancient village dungeon! You will also find the local church within the medieval walls.
If you just want to pamper yourself why not spend an afternoon at the award winning Spa where you can indulge in a treatment of your choice. Or just enjoy relaxing by the pool, meandering in and out of the Haman, Sauna and Jacuzzi. If feeling sporty, you could participate in a gym session.
La Roche Posay is the largest French and European spa devoted to dermatology. The precious properties in La Roche Posay water is used to treat adults and children alike with eczema, psoriasis, burns scaring, erythrocyte, rosacea, ... and the most recently successful post cancer treatments.
La Roche Posay is also a center of medical excellence so doctors, chemists and health care specialists are locally available. There are also the supporting professions of acupuncturists, osteopaths, kineticists etc etc.
During the summer school holidays a sandy beach is opened alongside the river with part of it cordoned off for swimming with a life guard in residence - an ideal way to meet other families. Other activities within La Roche Posay are horse riding, casino, splendid golf course, mini golf, donkey walks with a carriage, horse drawn carriage tour of the village, canoes, fishing, boules, tennis, horse race course, walk and cycle circuits, cinema, yoga, judo, karate, fine arts and the list goes on. During the summer months there are special events held in the square or at the salle de fete - traditional dance, tea dance, music, puppet theater and weekend events such as the folklore spectacular.
A short distance away you can visit the famous wine regions of the Loire, Angles sur Anglin with its Magdalene freeze, rock carvings and jour d'angle lace, prehistoric museum at Grand Pressigny, abbey at St Savin, Futuroscope, Valley of the Monkeys, Planet of the Crocodiles, Island of snakes, Beauval Zoo, Haute Touche wildlife park, Velo Ride, chateau, birds of pry and the fabulous Saturday market at Chauvigny.
