The Brittany / Morbihan region
Southern Brittany offers a mixture of Medieval towns, countyside and popular seaside resorts with both the French and holiday makers alike. There are areas of archealogical interest such as Carnac and multiple activities - sailing, riding, paintballing and kayaking throughout the region.
The beaches are long and golden, an ideal retreat in the summer months due to the mild climate and pictuesque positioning. There are also many islands which can be visited by day tripping boats and private charters.
Futher inland there are wonderful forests and countryside to be explored on foot, bike or horse.
There are also many local delicacies throughout the region from fresh shellfish and catch of the day to traditional flans and galettes.
La Roche Bernard / Arzal area
Situated 3 minutes walk from the Barrage d'Arzal and the marina there is a wealth of activities to do in the immediate surrounding area whether its a stroll along the river or a dinner cruise up to La Roche Bernard.
There are regular markets and events at the Barrage and surrounding areas through the summer months. Each of the local towns have their own summer festivals which range from folk music to "Its a knock out" type water games and Medieval jousting and similar competitions.
The local restaurants and bars offer a good opportunity for eating out for every budget. There are regular markets in Penestin, La Roche Bernard and Vannes to purchase local produce and also bargains in clothes, shoes, bags and household linens.
The area welcomes tourists these being predominantly French holiday makers which confirms that this is a well kept French secret.
