Chalet Epicea is a stunning Savoyard building made of stone and wood and with exposed beams with a contemporary and stylish interior. Accommodating up to 13 people in 6 bedrooms arranged over 3 floors, this spacious, detached chalet benefits from cosy, under-floor heating, a terrace and balcony, and has a huge, open plan dining and living area, perfect for for chilling out after a hard day on the slopes.
Located right on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, Chalet Epicea is set in a woodland clearing, but is still only minutes away from the centre of the friendly village of Les Coches. In winter, all but the most nervous of skiers can ski or board right back to the door, and in the warmer months, hike or bike out through the National Park on signed trails. And as well as views of Mont Blanc as a backdrop, if you’re lucky, you may even spot our resident fox, or perhaps some deer or wild boar.
Having both been trained in gourmet cuisine, the owners ensure that meal times are a sumptous affair with fabulous breakfasts to set you up for the day; freshly-baked cakes in the afternoon, and aperitifs and 4 courses and unlimted wine at dinner.
You can then choose to settle down with a drink on one of our four comfy sofas before a roaring log fire; opt for a book from our well-stocked library and retire to the comfort of the rocking chair, or chat with your friends at the thick, wooden, handcrafted dining table.
Or if you want to keep up with the latest news or movies, you can wile away the hours watching Sky TV in glorious HD on the 42” widescreen plasma TV, choose from a selection of DVDs, or have some electronic fun with the X-box360.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
The beauty of Les Coches is that it is right in the heart of the 'Paradiski' - the linked ski resorts of Les Arcs & La Plagne, so visitors can enjoy 425kms of piste in a single lift pass. There are runs for every level as well as plenty of off-piste and snowshoe walking available, and with snowparks and glacier skiing to boot, it's a great ski area to explore.
Chalet Epicea is situated on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, so it's fabulous for summer activites too such as mountain biking, hiking, motorbiking and paragliding.
La Plagne / Les Coches area
Les Coches is a modern but cute village with the look and feel of a tradtional farming village. It's a friendly place, with no traffic in the centre, and has all the amenities you would expect of a mountain village. Bars, restaurants, a crèche for the kids, plentiful ski shops, local gift shops, two ski schools, as well as an ice rink and a well stocked local supermarket. In addition, the village of Montchavin (a short, free shuttle-bus ride away), as well as offering extra choice in bars, restaurants and shops, also has a cinema.
Chalet Epicea is a 12minute walk away from the centre of town, but for those of you that don't want to face the walk in ski gear, we'll give you a lift in our 4x4.
How to get there
Train One of the nicest methods of travel and the most eco-friendly! Eurostar (www.eurostar.com) and Rail Europe (www.raileurope.com) operate overnight trains from London Waterloo or Ashford in Kent to Bourg St Maurice, our nearest train station, a mere 10kms away. Some train services also stop at Laundry, which is a smaller station and even closer.
Flying The nearest airports to our chalet are Chambery, Geneva, Lyon & Grenoble, with many low-cost airlines flying to them from key UK airports. Easyjet, Ryanair, Thomas Cook, Snowjet and Jet2 are just some of the airlines - have a look at the Getting Here page of our website for more detailed information.
Transfers We work with a transfer company that will bring you direct from the airport to the chalet in their fleet of personal minibuses. Contact us for up to date prices. You can also hire a car from the airport - we've found that www.auto-europe.co.uk is normally quite competitive.
Driving It's about a 10 hour drive from Calais, and we have parking spaces right outside the chalet. Don't forget to bring or hire some snow chains.
