Chalet Alexander is our great value catered chalet and is a large duplex chalet apartment in a new small chalet which is based in the traditional village of Plagne Montalbert, one of the 10 villages that make up the La Plagne region.
For our popular catered and self catered holidays we are in one of the best villages and ski resorts in the La Plagne area, Plagne Montalbert, which is a traditional, authentic French village with rustic alpine charm, lots of restaurants and is part of one of the worlds largest ski area.
Tree-lined runs hold the snow until very late in the season and the slopes are covered by a network of snow cannons; so runs all the way home are practically guaranteed. A network of interconnecting chairlifts takes you right up to the topmost resorts.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
La Plagne/Paradiski The Vanoise Express is a spectacular double-decker cable car, linking La Plagne and Les Arcs. The result is Paradiski, one of the world’s biggest skiing areas. The numbers are boggling: all told, there are no less than 242 pistes, 425km, 35 black, 66 red, 129 blue and 12 green, plus 4 snowparks and one halfpipe. They are serviced by 134 lifts, with lower slopes at 1200 metres yielding to the glaciers at 3250 metres; so skiing is assured throughout the season. Quite simply, there’s no excuse to be bored on a Mountain Heaven holiday.
For snowboarders La Plagne is also well-served, with a permanent half pipe in Plagne Bellecote, a snow park in Belle–Plagne and a snowboarding area with sound system in Montchavin/Les Coches and Champagny en Vanoise. For cross country skiers, Plagne Montalbert offers 90km of marked trails including tremendous scenic forest trails and access to several high level routes.

La Plagne / Montalbert area
Unlike the ugly apartment blocks that dominate many of the ski resorts in the French Alps, Plagne Montalbert is delightfully unspoilt; a daily treat from glistening dawn to glowing sunset over the pine forests. It remains a traditional, friendly, village surrounded by stunning scenery: the Tarentaise valley to one side, Mont Blanc and surrounding mountains to the other. Christmas and New Year in Montalbert is a wonderful time with torch light skiing, firework displays and parties. On Christmas Eve they have a great street festival with Father Christmas being drawn on a sleigh surrounded by all the ski instructors with flaming torches and the old church in the centre of the village has a real nativity scene which last year even featured a real baby, donkey and other animals!
How to get there
There are many airlines going into the four main airports that can be used to access La Plagne these are Geneva, Chambery, Grenoble and Lyon. Please contact us for advice on which airlines fly to which airports. For onward journeys we can arranged highly discounted car hire together with transfers if required. Finally for those getting the snow train the main station at Aime is only 15 minutes away

Plagne Montalbert is snow secure with a wide network of snow cannons, the trees hold the snow until late in the season and the sun hits the village later in the afternoon thus preserving the snow. Chalet Alexander is located one minute away from the main chairlift and one minute away from the village centre. It has spectacular views across the Tarentaise valley and has four bedrooms sleeping up to 10 people, although is ideal for 8.
