La Grange à Gaston, built in 1844, has been entirely renovated in 2006. It combines old world charm with auythentic wooden beams, arched stone walls and full moderns confort. It is rated 4**** (DVD/DVX players Stereo, logfire, terrace...).
La Grange sleeps 8 to 10 people with 4 rooms and two full bathrooms : 2 rooms with a double bed each, 1 large bedroom with 4 simple beds and a small bedroom with 2 beds. It has a large and cosy living/dining room with a log fire, a terrace and a stunning view on the Vanoise glaciers and the cross country skiing area. Rooms and bathrooms are located in 1° and 3° floor (the barn has been designed for two families).
There is a free skibus 3 minutes walk away which takes you to Champagny-le-Bas-Paradiski within 10 mn. (Champagny is one of the 10 villages of La Plagne). It is offering wonderful skiing and snow-boarding for all standards from complete beginners to serious off piste experts.
In summer, there are full range of mountain activities such as hiking, fishing, climbing and highropescourses within easy reach. You still can attend watercolors classes.
All year long, fresh bread and croissants can be delivered every morning.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
French Alps are steep mountains and Savoie, one of the Italy's heart, has a long history as high farming area. Savoie is most famous for cheese (Beaufort), baroque churches and great ski resorts with wonderful snow.
You will find each of these items in Champagny en Vanoise, at around 1500m above the sea level.
Champagny is a village-resort of La Plagne, which linked to "Les Arcs" by the "Vanoise Express" is known as Paradiski area.
La Plagne / Champagny-en-Vanoise area
Champagny en Vanoise is an old village (beautiful baroque church of XVII° century) which is the southern and sunniest side of La Plagne-Paradiski resort (a fantastic ski area with some 425 km of piste and a wonderful off piste that can lead you back to 'Le Bois').
At night, you'll appreciate its bars, restaurants and night clubs.
Five kilometres up is the valley of 'Champagny le Haut', with 'Le Bois' as its main hamlet. It is a superb preserved valley, classified in "The Natural Monuments and Sites of France" for its beautiful countryside and the preserved architecture of its villages. (Ibexes can easily be seen in winter).
Champagny le Haut is more peaceful, with mostly cross-country skiers and families sledging with young kids. At night, many young people are climbing on the ice tower. "Le Refuge du Bois" restaurant is often full and a new one is opening soon.
How to get there
The closest airport is Chambery, an hour away. You can also fly to Geneva, Lyon or Grenoble which are 2 1/2 hours drive away.
From Lyon, you can take the 'Satobus' to Champagny en Vanoise or rent a car.
La Plagne Champagny is easily accessible by road with nearly all the journey on the fast French motorways. Ferry services to Calais and the 'Eurotunnel' service to Folkstone leave an approx 10 hour drive to resort.
The nearest railway station is 17 km away (Moutiers).

Further details indoors: La Grange à Gaston is an old barn, newly decorated (in 2006) with modern style with mostly wooden furnitures and floors.
It is organised for two families, one floor per each, or for a group of friends. It has a gorgeous view on the valley and glaciers.
French bread can be delivered every morning.
Further details outdoors: In winter, cross-country skiing, ice climbing, sledging, Nordic walking, snow shoeing and restaurants are on the spot.
By free shuttle or by car, you're 5 km or 15 mn away of La Plagne-Paradiski and closed to 'Courchevel' and the '3Vallées' (20 mn).
In the summer, hiking in the Vanoise, (the oldest national park of France), is great. The valley is flat which is ideal for "soft walking" (with kids) or relaxing. the pool and watercolours classes are at 5 mn drive, via ferrata and adventure for youngsters are within 500 m, 1km.

Deposit of 30 % is required for booking. It is returnable if cancelled up to 8 weeks prior to departure, or 50% refundable if you cancel up to 4 weeks before departure.
