Home description
Les Chalets de Montalbert are built in the traditional Savoyard style. The apartments are spacious, and located right on the edge of the forest directly on the piste. They are tranquil and picturesque- but still only a 5 minute walk away from the village centre.
They are completely ski out/in and there is a free drag lift opposite which proves very popular with everybody who stays in these magnificent chalet apartments. We also provide a baguette/croissant delivery service for these chalets so breakfast can be delivered straight to your door.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
A stunning mountain area providing great skiing during the winter and a wide range of adventure sports during the summer
The Vanoise Express is a spectacular double-decker cable car, linking La Plagne and Les Arcs. The result is Paradiski, one of the world’s biggest skiing areas.
The numbers are boggling: all told, there are no less than 242 pistes, 425km, 35 black, 66 red, 129 blue and 12 green, plus 4 snowparks and one halfpipe. They are serviced by 134 lifts, with lower slopes at 1200 metres yielding to the glaciers at 3250 metres; so skiing is assured throughout the season. Quite simply, there’s no excuse to be bored on a Mountain Heaven holiday.
The runs into Plagne Montalbert are either red or blue and can thus be tackled by virtually all skiers. They are tree lined too, and hold the snow well and together with the extensive network of snow cannons and the fact that the village faces North West ensures snow.
For snowboarders La Plagne is also well-served, with a permanent half pipe in Plagne Bellecote, a snow park in Belle–Plagne and a snowboarding area with sound system in Montchavin/Les Coches and Champagny en Vanoise. For cross country skiers, Plagne Montalbert offers 90km of marked trails including tremendous scenic forest trails and access to several high level routes.
La Plagne / Montalbert area
Unlike the ugly apartment blocks that dominate many of the ski resorts in the French Alps, Plagne Montalbert is delightfully unspoilt; a daily treat from glistening dawn to glowing sunset over the pine forests. It remains a traditional, friendly, village surrounded by stunning scenery: the Tarentaise valley to one side, Mont Blanc and surrounding mountains to the other. To see what the conditions are at Montalbert today please take a look at the webcam.
Christmas and New Year in Montalbert is a wonderful time with torch light skiing, firework displays and parties. On Christmas Eve they have a great street festival with Father Christmas being drawn on a sleigh surrounded by all the ski instructors with flaming torches and the old church in the centre of the village has a real nativity scene which last year even featured a real baby, donkey and other animals!
Plagne Montalbert has all the amenities you could want in a ski resort with plenty of restaurants, great bars and a number of ski shops. There is a well stocked supermarket, a patisserie and two wonderful delicatessens where you can buy ready to cook local meals, cheese, cold meats etc.
There are ten restaurants in the village these include: Le Trappeurs: Trappeurs is a great bar and restaurant that serves specialities from the local area such as Tartiflette together with steaks and other dishes. La Luge which serves great pizzas, Le Forperet which is a mountain restaurant open in the evening and offers a free mini bus service. If you wish to book this restaurant please contact them by email by clicking the link.
La Tourmante is a very lively pub / restaurant which often has live music, shows football on its large screen TV downstairs when the big matches are on and serves a variety of great value food in the upstairs restaurant. It was highly recommended last season by our guests and Cathy and Eric (wine connoisseurs) will give you are your children a warm welcome. Le Fifties Legend, a Mexican restaurant that also serves burgers and pizzas (they also offer a delivery service to the apartments. Skanapia which is a busy restaurant right at the base of the slopes and serves local food and offers a great Plat Du Jour

Here a selection of the great feedback we received from last season – all the positive feedback would fill pages!
“A pretty village and a quiet way into a vast ski area, worth taking a look at Montalbert” Patrick Thorne, Independent ski journalist Ski & Board - March 2007
“Excellent value for money … dare I say even too cheap!” Peter Matza - Jan 2007
“Well what can we say, not a bad word about you, the accommodation or the resort” James Wolley - Feb 2007
“We have about 15 years of ski experience and have been to lots of resorts across Europe, the holiday this year could not have been more different, the staff in UK were polite, helpful and enthusiastic. The approach was repeated when we arrived at the resort. Our apartment was better than any accommodation I have ever stayed in. We really were in heaven – mountain heaven on a rating it was 10/10” David - February 2007
“There was not one complaint between out group of 26 people” Eleanor Weddell - March 2007
