The barn is tastefully furnished, extremely well equipped and tastefully decorated throughout and is set in about a 1/3 of an acre, which is accessed through a private gated entrance and has ample private parking. The barn has beautiful views of the surrounding hills & valley in which it sits. On entering the barn, there is a piano and leather sofa and the beautiful "floating" stairs that will lead you up to the large, beamed and open plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas, and then on to the Master suite, with open plan bathroom and also another bedroom with an en suite shower. The modern kitchen has an American style Fridge freezer, with filtered water and ice dispenser. There is also a dishwasher, microwave and a range cooker.

Downstairs, off of the hall, there is a double bedroom with an en suite shower. This bedroom can also house a cot or guest bed if required. There is a toilet and utility area with a washing machine. Outside, there is a large courtyard with a barbecue, a pergola for shaded dining and with a table with ample seating and sunbeds, next to the salt water and solar heated, 8.1 metres x 4.6 metres above ground swimming pool Bikes are available for your use. A boules set is also supplied and can be played on the lawn. A sand pit along with pool toys and inflatables are also supplied. The pool is available from May to October.

WIFI is accessible in ALL areas of the barn and also outside in the courtyard and around the pool.

Although we are a strictly "non smoking" house, smoking is permitted in the grounds of the barn.

The barn has been designed to offer luxury accommodation for singles, couples and families of all ages to enable you have a great holiday in a very beautiful part of France.

We provide a welcome pack. .

At Christmas, La Grange a la Fontaine is a beautiful place to spend the festive period with family and friends. A Christmas tree and decorations are provided. Also at Christmas time the barn is centrally heated from the main wood burner downstairs, and in the lounge area there is a beautiful second log fire, next to the Christmas tree, which is surrounded by the comfy sofas. Because the kitchen, lounge and dining areas are "open plan", this is a great social area especially at this special time of year.

The Midi-Pyrenees region

Nearby is a beautiful 14th century château and church. Prayssac at 5km is our nearest town with supermarkets and restaurants etc. Catus' leisure lake and beach (Lac Vert) is 15km away, where you can swim, fish, play tennis, volleyball & hire pedalos etc. Other activities in the area include rambling, golf, mountain biking and horse riding etc.

The medieval town of Puy l'Eveque and sites such as Rocamadour and the caves at Gouffre de Padirac are also in the Lot. The area has many vineyards, forming the heart of the Cahors AOC wine region. Cahors at 25km, renowned for its 14th-century Pont Valentre bridge and for it's culinary heritage, was recently featured on Jamie Oliver's cookery programme on Channel 4. Because of this heritage, there are great opportunities to visit superb local restaurants and to taste wine at local vineyards.

La Masse

La Grange à la Fontaine is situated in the very picturesque hamlet of La Masse. We have an interesting 12th Century Church and Saracen Chimney. The church features the most unusual frescoes of the Seven Deadly Sins. La Masse is part of the commune of Les Junies (where you can find a beautiful 14th century château and church) . Also within the valley in which La Masse sits, there was an important neolithic settlement (there is now a marked walk called Circuit des Dolmens).

We are also situated near the historic town of Cahors, with it's world-famous and beautiful fortified bridge, the 14th-century 'Pont Valentre,' which spans the river Lot and is indeed the symbol of Cahors. It is the only fortified bridge in the world with three towers and is mentioned in Dante's “Inferno”. There is also an internationally famous annual Blues festival.

We recommend exploring the River Lot from the water. There are many river boat trips and boats for hire, including canoeing and kayaking. Other popular sporting activities in the are are rambling, golf, mountain biking and horse riding. Prayssac is our nearest town, (5km) which has a twice weekly market and also offers access to supermarkets, a Post Office and banks amongst a number of other shops. La Masse is also close to the medieval town of Puy l'Eveque on the river Lot. We are also very close to world famous sites such as Rocamadour and the caves at Gouffre de Padirac. Catus is about 1/4 hr from here with it's leisure lake and- the 'Lac Vert' leisure complex.

As well as swimming and fishing in the lake, there are pedalos and canoes for hire. It also has a lakeside café bar and two restaurants with views overlooking the water. Free activities at the lake include two floodlit tennis courts, volleyball and table tennis. There are also swings and slides for young children.

"A wonderful restful place..perfect"

If you want to get away from it all in the most wonderful country setting then this is the place. The barn!! is fantastic modern but retaining all the original beams and walls the kitchen a chefs dream. Outside walnut, plum and apple trees shade the pool area and dot the huge garden. The owner Gary was so helpful, nothing was a problem. Recommend a few visits to Cahors fantastic restaurants and only 20 minutes away. Yeah, look forward to returning some day soon!

"Excellent property"

This property was excellent and just as the details describe. It was well
maintained and very private with large grounds and plenty of space. The
owners (Garry and Gaynor) were always on hand if required but never
intrusive. Ample supply of fruit from the apple and plum trees.

Lots of things to do in the area or relax by the pool. Rocamadour and the
cave at Padirac well worth a visit as well as exploring the medieval
villages in the area. La Venus restaurant in Prayssac very good.

Would definately recommend this place and hope to return at some time."
