The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The area enjoys a fantastic sunny climate, with over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. The beaches are of golden sand and are clean and safe, they offer fun and relaxation for all the family. Various activities and water sports are available or just lay back and enjoy the sun.
The people are relaxed and friendly and our gastronomy, some of the best in Spain. Typical local dishes include various Tapas, Paella and rice dishes as well as local freshly caught seafood. Enjoy your meal with a glass of chilled wine and soak in the atmosphere in this wonderful location.
This is an area where there is plenty to do for both golfers and non golfers alike, in both areas, with beaches, water sports, Safari Park, horse riding, shopping and general sightseeing all close by. There are four cities within an hour's drive - Alicante to the north, Elche to the north west, Murcia to the west and Cartegena to the south and two major international airports close by - Alicante and Murcia's San Javia - both within 40 minutes drive. 4 championship Golf Courses within 15 minutes drive from this property.
Green fees average £25 - £40 for 18 holes. There are 11 more courses within an hours drive. Open all year. Torrevieja (45km south of Alicante airport) is an old fishing town, with its own harbour and small fishing fleet. Bounded by the beautiful Mediterranean on one side and thousands of acres of fruit groves inland, the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and within moments you can be driving in picturesque open countryside, where you can stop and pick a fresh orange or lemon and enjoy the fabulous bounty that nature has gifted to this part of the world.
Going south just a 10 minute drive, the ancient Spanish town of Guardamar del Secura is at the mouth of the River Secura, The picturesque town overlooks a large expanse of sand dunes with an abundance of pines and eucalyptus and has long golden beaches for relaxing and enjoying the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea. The bustling main street is filled with shops and cafes. The coastal road leads to the busy promenade where you'll find numerous bars, market stalls and street cafes and, in season, a fun fair. The beautiful Parque Reina Sofia with its pine groves, lakes and wildlife is also well worth visiting.
Alicante, the main gateway for most visitors to the Costa Blanca, Alicante is still authentically Spanish. The seafront is elegantly lined with palm trees and decorated with beautiful tiles. The old town is especially atmospheric, with narrow streets and buzzing bars and restaurants and has the best shopping and night-life of the region.
The history of San Fulgencio begins in the18th century, when Don Luis de Belluga and Moncada, Bishop of Cartagena and Murcia, played with the idea of drying out and populating this land.
Guadalest is the most popular excursion from the coast. Built on a defensive position, it can only be explored on foot. A short, sloping tunnel leads into the village square and from here steps take you up to the castle on a rocky summit. Precariously placed on an adjacent pinnacle of rock is the church's photogenic belfry. Guadalest has one other, odd claim to fame, it has two museums of microscopic art.. Keep going beyond Guadalest and you cross the sierras of inland Alicante, leaving the coast. The road heads for Alcoi but there is an interesting detour to be made on the way to see a little-known but enchanting Baroque garden at Penaguila.
If you want to stretch your legs, drive up to Agres, the most picturesque village in the Sierra Mariola, which tumbles down the mountainside in steep, narrow streets from a shrine pressed into the slope. From the shrine there's a magnificent walk up slopes covered with wild flowers to the picturesque ruins of two ice-pits below the summit of Mount Cabrer.
The settlement of The Tabarca Island is a mini fortified village, built in the 18th century to a strictly rational plan on the orders of Charles III, Hitherto, Tabarca had belonged the Sultan of Algiers and Charles was concerned to make sure that it could not be used as a base by pirates wanting to raid the mainland.
