La Manga, 100km south of Alicante, is a narrow strip of land separating the Mediterranean from a 180km lagoon with five islands, called the Mar Menor.
Our apartment is located in the Atalaya and Star Alfa apartments and is situated on the Mediterranean coast.
The apartment consists of a large living area with kitchen and two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that you need during your stay and includes a washing machine, cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave.
The sitting area has comfortable seating for six guests and includes a sofa bed and TV.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The region of Murcia is one of Spain's 17 autonomous communities and is located in the southeast of the country, between Andalusia and Valencian Community, on the Mediterranean coast. Due to the climate the area is a popular agricultural area and there are many wineries in the towns of Bullas, Yecla, and Jumilla, as well as olive oil near Moratalla.
Local towns and cities of interest are the city of Murcia itself with its cathedral and belfry, the historic town of Cartagena, the medieval town of Lorca and Caravaca, one of the five official Holy cities for Catholicism.
The Costa Cálida, meaning warm coast, covers a 250 km stretch of Mediterranean coastline of the Spanish province of Murcia. This area has a superb micro-climate for holidaymakers with higher than average temperatures throughout the year and only about 34cm of rain every year. .
The Costa Cálida extends from El Mojón in the north near the province of Alicante, to near the municipality of Águilas in the south bordering on the region of Almería province.
To the north of this coastline is the Mar Menor which is Europe's largest coastal saltwater lagoon and the location of our apartment.
Cartagena and Mazarrón are two other important coastal towns in the region.
La Manga Del Mar Menor area
Mar Menor, in the south-east of the autonomous community of Murcia, is a salty lagoon almost totally separated from the Mediteranean Sea due to a sandbar called "La Manga del Mar Menor" which means "the sleeve of the little sea". This small strip of land is around 22km long with a variable width of 100-1200m and forms the lagoon which at its deepest is only 8 meters deep and maintains an average water temperature of 17 Celsius.
The Mar Menor area is a very popular holiday destination for a varirety of reasons. To most, it is known for its three championship La Manga golf courses and is why the term La Manga is often used synonomously for great golfing in fantastic locations. However there is much more to golf for holidaymakers to enjoy. The warm, salty and clear water makes it "the largest swimming pool in the world" according to the famous swimmer and Hollywood actress Esther Williams. Its relatively high salinity, which aids floatation, and remarkable sporting infrastructures make this one of the most popular places in Europe for the practice and training of all kinds of water sports. Today, this place attracts all those who seek a quiet place to rest and relax, with ideal climatic conditions all year round.
The Mar Menor is also part of a Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance and is a Special Protection Area (ZEPA in Spanish) for bird-life.
The entrance of the Manga strip starts at the lighthouse called Cabo de Palos. From here you can drive up the entire strip. If you want to relax and lie on a sandy beach there are plenty of opportunities on both sides of the road. Around the entire Mar Menor area you will find lots of beaches and villages to explore. From famous beach spots like the Playa Honda close to La Manga to the Playa de los Nietos or the Playa de Palo close to San Javier.
At the end of the La Manga, at the village of Veneziola, you will find the beautiful yacht club called "Tomas Maestre" and another lighthouse, the Punta del Cocedo. This is a great place to sit and watch the world go by at one of the many cafes and restaurants over looking the Mar Menor.
How to get there
BY AIR: You can fly into San Javier (Murcia) - 30km or Alicante - 96km airports. These are well served by schedule, charter and budget airlines from throughout Europe.
BY CAR: From Alicante follow directions for MurciaA7/AP7. Continue along this road until youread El Algar, where you will see signs for La Manga.
From Murcia Airport, follow signs for A7/AP7 to Cartagena until you reach signs for La Manga, continue for 7kmand go over a small hill (Monte Blanco Hill). The office is 100 yards before the petrol station (to the left of the dual carriageway).

The party leader must be at least 25 years of age at the time of booking and is responsible for making all payments due. We will provide you with a written confirmation either by post or electronically by email. Payment is due at the time of booking by cheque, debit or credit card. There is a 2% charge for credit card payments and a £0.50 charge for debit cards. Full terms and conditions will be provided with the confirmation letter.
We request that your arrival details are forwarded to us prior to your travel either by phone or email so that a member of our staff can meet and take you to your apartment.
Conditions
We recommend that you have travel insurance. If you have to cancel your booking please contact us as soon as possible. The day we receive notification is the date on which your booking is cancelled. There is a cancellation fee of £35 per week. Providing it is 30 days before the start date of your holiday, you may receive a refund/part refund.
