The Costa Calida region
This region of Spain is situated on the South East coast.
The property is in a stunning location close to2 seas with an exceptional climate (average of 320 days of sunshine each year) encouraging top sports people from all over the world. A breathtaking 'get away from it all' location Playa Paraiso is a paradise for golfing, swimming and all water sports on the beautiful calm waters of the Mar Menor. Within 5/10 mins drive are the unspoilt Mediterranean beaches, the Calblanque National Park (a protected nature reserve) and the world famous La Manga golf, tennis and football complex. The historic cities of Cartegena and Murcia and the picturesque fishing port of Cabo de Palos, with its excellent fish restaurants overlooking the harbour are all within driving distance. Just 5 mins drive (15 mins beach walk) to the bottom of the very long 'La Manga strip' with all its shops bars and restaurants.
La Manga Del Mar Menor
Free Tennis courts, Mini Golf and children's play area within 5 mins walk from house. We now have a new sports area opposite us with more Tennis and padel Tennis courts, a football pitch, gymi etc.

Stayed 2 weeks at the villa, the first with my girlfriends and for the second week my partner came over. The first week has already been reviewed by one of the group. When my partner was over we explored the area a bit more. Would recommend La Manga caravan club (15 mins walk along beach front towards Playa Honda) food was very good and the entertainment also. The Malvasia restaurant in Playa Honda (5 mins walk) was excellent, a little pricey but the quality of the food and wine would cost a lot more in England. We made good use of the bikes. A trip to the market in Cabo de Palos was well worth it, we actually walked there, it took about 50 minutes but very pleasant walk. Villa very clean and keyholder (Claire) most helpful with transfers to/from airport and was only at the end of the phone if we needed anything.

"stunning stay in Playa Paraiso"
Well what can I say? A group of friends and myself went to stay in the villa June 2013. First of all I must say the booking process was so easy and Sue immediately replied to the emails I sent which was very reassuring. When we arrived at the villa it was clean and very well equipped. The area is very 'Spanish' for which we were so pleased - we were all able to practice our Spanish. The villa is a very short walk from the beach and sunbeds and umbrellas can be hired for a very reasonable rate. There is a well stocked supermarket within walking distance as there are a few bars. The service in bar Julietta was brilliant - tapas with drinks etc. and all very reasonably priced. We took the coastal route to La Manga one day on foot - a lovely walk and we found a lovely bar near the beach there. However we were all just after a chillaxing time which is what we had. Because we loved the area we did not want to go too far away. The key holders Clare and Dave were fab and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for having us and we hope to come again

"Great place for a good rest"
The house was perfect for young children and a teenager who could sleep upatairs uninterrupted. It was close to the beach and had a lovely pool nearby. Out of season it was a quiet untouched resort so great.for peace and quiet and a good rest.

"A little gem by the sea"
This is the second time that we've stayed at this particular property and we are currently arranging our third booking for next year - that in itself should speak volumes as to the level of our satisfaction
The villa is exactly as advertised ,spotlessly clean, which is so reassuring when you've driven, like us, several hundreds of miles down from the Santander/Bilbao ferryport
For those planning to fly into the local airport, then there is an easy 20 min drive straight to the property.
We went during the 'low' season seeking peace and relaxtion which was in abundance- whilst there are a number of local bars/restaurants within a few minutes level walk, for those after an energetic time then I would suggest going during the high season when the place is 'buzzing'.
For us the villa was ideally located - 2 min walk to the Mar Menor level promenade-5mins to the supermarket- 5min drive to the La Manga strip with the variety of shops, bars restaurants and numerous clean sandy beaches - 20 mins to the city of Cartagena - a visit not to be missed.
One of our favourite haunts was the harbourside at Cabo de Palos a small fishing port, again only a 5 min drive or a 25min walk with a choice of restaurants located alongside the waters edge- wonderful!!
I could 'rattle' on for ages but the secret would be to try the area and find out for yourself.
The villa booking with Sue was seemless as was the local contact with Claire- nothing was too much trouble.
A thoroughly enjoyable break to a warm climate in order to escape the UK weather.
Thank you Sue/Claire- you've got our vote !

"A totally relaxing week."
An excellent property with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday ,very spacious and very clean ,two bikes for getting about , although we never used them . Loads of beach stuff for kids and when the sun gets a little too hot satellite TV with loads of DVDs etc , boxed games and books .The local agents are fantastic and offer kids stuff for hire very cheaply (ie cots etc) ,transfers and trips around the area including most of the local markets in the Murcia area ,I also recommend their cafe/bar called Apicoco in Playa Honda .The property is just a short walk from the really clean (cleaned daily) and massive beach that surrounds the incredibly warm Mar Menor ,Was really impressed with the prescence of a life guard station on the beach as well .Fanastic weather during our stay .A really useful and well stocked ,cheap ,supermarket a short walk away and some very good cafe/restaraunts .A very clean communal swimming pool at the rear of the property that appears to never be busy .Loads of friendly people with quite a lot of ex-pats so always someone to talk to . Ideally if you want to get around and see the sights you'll need a hire car but we were happy just ambling around the local area.

"good house - good location"
We have been to the area before so new what to expect but were really pleased with the house. We were 4 adults so did not use the upstairs but could see how useful it could be with children. Only stayed for 5 nights but weather superb so did not want to come home. Good location for just relaxing but car hire advisable for sight seeing.
House very well equiped with books. games, dvd's etc plus beach equipment although we were out every night so did not use much.
Also if you eat in there is a bbq plus oil's condiments etc left by previous occupants, everyone seems to leave something you can use.
Not much in the way of shops / bars in area but depends what you want. The bar Appicoco does good food and owners and staff really nice and helpful. Also Hondamar shop excellent for prices and stock.
We found best restaurants in Los Bellones (we had a car but taxi only 10 euros so not bad) Via Romana excellent (so good we went back again) also Oasis v.good (don't judge by the exterior as the food is lovely and reasonable.
Cabo de palos has good restaurants but all much the same and you pay extra for the location.
All in all a good house suitable for couples or families of all age groups.

"lovely sunny week in a stunning location"
Our holiday time was amazing, all of us - we, our girls and parents - enjoyed it thoroughly. The weather was great, no sign of any clouds, beautiful sun, lovely beaches around - nearest just 5 minutes walk! (although we especially liked puerto de mazarron), we drove around every day visiting nearby places for sightseeing and walks - la manga, cartagena, cabo de palos, local harbors.
We loved staying at your villa - everything we needed was there, including all kitchen utensils and bbq; cupboard full of games and books, and also english tv available - all those were ideal for siesta time when it was too hot to walk aroung or sit in the sun! The swimming pool was brilliant - especially for late afternoons and our girls really enjoyed it. We have visited few local restaurants - there is a brilliant chinese place opposite Mercadona market, clearly our favourite! We also enjoyed fish restaurant in mazarron harbor as well. We were stunned when we found out how cheap spanish wine is! unbelievable!
Both information folders - in English! - prepared by house owner (one full of info about the region and the other one with booklets and leaflets of all possible local places, starting with restarants, through water parks, golf course, etc) were such a great help and full of useful information, details and maps - considering we dont speak spanish even more helpful :) thanks for that.
We have had amazing time and we'd love to go back soon! xxx

"Would be happy to stay here again."
Had a great two weeks in Sue's house, clean, comfortable and well equiped, even had plenty of beach gear. Playa Paraiso and surrounding area is clean and felt safe. The Mar was fun - warm and shallow [thigh deep] the first 30 meters or so in - so great for children. Limited number of shops and bar/restaurants but we found every thing we needed. The restaurant at the other end of the Prom [La Manga campsite] provided decent evening meals with the menu of the day priced at E10.50 pp for a three course with a bottle of wine for two thrown in. We loved the near by national park which has several idillic beaches, beach fishing/ snorkeling and walks. We prefer an easy going holiday and found everything we needed within a five mile radius. A car is useful but most places, including the National park beaches can be reached by bus [bus stop not far from house] and a nearby town has a train station to La Union and Carthagena.
