The apartment is located just a few minutes walk from the beach and all local bars, shops and restaurants. A quiet and peaceful area generally although in July/August the local people visit the whole of the Mar Menor for the school holidays adding to the magic of the area which is well known as one of the healthiest in Europe.
The complex has 2, suitable for all, swimming pools for cooling off and relaxing yet the more active and adventurous can play golf, cycle, walk, fish, or enjoy water sports on the Mar Menor.Car hire or inexpensive public transport will put you within an hour of all the areas towns and villages for the shops and marketsand in addition allow you to visit the ancient and beautiful cities of Cartegena and Murcia.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The region, the ancient Kingdom of Murcia, is situated on the S E Coast of Spain and at over 320 days of sunshine per year is one of the driest , sunniest and warmest places in the whole of Europe making it ideal for breaks at any time of the year.
A major feature is the Mar Menor a large shallow salt water lagoon inletted from the Med and separated from it by a narrow strip of built up land called the La Manga strip, a remarkable feature in its own right. The water and black mud of the Mar Menor are reputed, with good evidence, to have therapeutic benefits for skin complaints and reduce the pain of rheumatism and arthritis.
Murcia, the regions Capital, Is one of the largest cities in Spain which manages magnificently to present a modern bustling image and yet retain the character and beauty of its historical architecture; a stunning place.The other main city is the ancient port of Catagena which has been in continuous use as a major port for over 2000 years and naturally boasts a large variety of ancient monuments to prove it.
There are a large number of championship golf courses in the region with the La Manga Club being formost in this respect with its magnificent sporting facilities in general having international attractions. The region of Murcia is still off the beaten track as far as tourists are concerned and consently it retains the Spanish and Moorish feel especially in the small towns and villages of which there are many.
La Manga Del Mar Menor / Playa Paraiso area
The Mar Menor, being a lagoon, is quieter and less choppy than the Med and has a higher average temperature making it ideal for boating, windsurfing, sailing and fishing with the mainly sandy beaches adjacent to all the towns and villages cordoned off to allow swimming in water only 1/2 metre deep, protected from the more energetic types; great news for families with small children. Diving activities are restricted to the Marine Reserve created opposite the lighthouse at Cabo de Palos at the beginning of the La Manga strip where divers can see marine life in the coral reefs and sunken vessels at a depth of around 30 metres.
The National Park covers the the area from Cabo de Palos almost to Cartagena along the most beautiful, mainly rocky unspoilt coastline, inland bounded by the main highway into Cabo, La Manga Club and the ancient mining area around Portman and La Union. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and hence absolutely perfect for the outdoor pursuits of cycling, strolling, serious hiking, hill climbing and horse riding.
The La Manga Club is famous for its international quality sports facilities all available for hire where the man in the street can rub shoulders with international sportspeople and celebrities. Training schools are available for all those wishing to partake of all the above activities who do not as yet possess the requisite skills.
Dining out in the area is a must, there are lots of restaurants and bars within 400 metres in Playa Honda all very reasonably priced with the quisine a mixture of Spanish and English to suit most tastes.Those wishing to sample something more exotic may find their needs catered for a 5 min car ride away on the traditional little port of Cabo de Palos, justifiably famous for its numerous fish restaurants, or the magnificent Chinese restaurant also in Cabo. Alternatively a 5 min car ride in the opposite direction the little town of Los Belone soffers some delightful restaurants and bars to suit all requirements. A 40 to 50 min stroll along the beach in the sunshine, passed the caravan park and on to the new promenade at Mar de Cristal to enjoy ice cream and cold drink at one of the beach bars is a delight not to be missed.
Public transport in the area is frequent, inexpensive and provides an touring experience which should not be missed; those who do not wish to drive personally can easily visit all the main towns and cities with no parking problems.
