The Costa Calida/Murcia region
La Manga is situated in the beautiful Murcia region in southern Spain, blessed with secluded sun-kissed beaches and cooled by the warm breeze from the Mediterranean.
The long strip of land separating the Mediterranean from the Mar Menor (inland sea) is usually only one Kilometre across, which means you always have the choice of two beaches and are surrounded by sea. The Mar Menor is always warm and has a captivating charm with it’s array of fishing and sailing boats and water sports including jet skiing.
The bars and restaurants here pride themselves with quality service and food this is definitely not for the fast food junkies although one burger king has been allowed onto the exclusive La Manga strip. This area is the holiday resort for the Spanish and as such it has a pleasant mixture of holiday facilities but also supports a thriving resident population which speaks volumes for the quality and ambiance of the area, no British pubs or chips with everything!
This region has on average 320 days of sunshine each year. With the low amount of rainfall it is an ideal place for your holiday in both summer and winter. The winters are mild in comparison to that of England.
La Manga Del Mar Menor area
The immediate area has plenty to offer, there are watersports, golf, go-karting, shops & restarants and the famous La Manga club is only a short distance from the apartment. The historic towns of Cartagena and Murcia are a short bus or car ride away. The apartment is within easy reach of everything so you'll be spoilt for choice!
Activity ideas:
Golf - There are numerous golf courses in this area. The municipal 18 hole course is 10 minutes drive away and the exclusive La Manga Golf and Tennis club also 20 minutes away is open to non-members. A new 9 hole course with Leisure and Health Cub facilities will be open in 2008 and is only a 2 minute walk away.
Swimming - The Mediterranean and the Mar Menor are safe swimming areas and both are on your doorstep. The pool is situated in front of the building with private gardens. The water is shallow and warm making it ideal for small children.
Water sports - all available from the Marina and close to the apartment.
Shopping - on the strip or nearby Cartegena, the place from where the Spanish armada set sail!
Eating out - the strip boasts a wide variety of restaurants and tapas bars, great local food.
Night-clubs - Situated mainly in hotels on the strip and in the exclusive La Manga club, or at the beginning of the strip which will let you party all through the night.
Torrevieca and Alicante are well worth a visit and for a step back into the history of the area a visit to Murcia and Cartagena is a must.
