Turquesa is in a quiet corner of Spain, away from the hustle and bustle, and sleeps 7 people plus a baby. Go up the marble stairs, open the balcony doors and all you can see is the turquoise blue of the sea, a cloudless sky, flamingos, gulls and sailing boats.

Upstairs there is a double and a twin bedroom and a luxury tiled family bathroom and downstairs there is a large lounge/dining room, a fully tiled fitted kitchen, a twin bedroom and a shower room. Two balconies both with glorious views, a front terrace overlooking the sea and a back patio. Quiet and tranquil - busy in Summer - with easy access to all amenities, including supermarkets, great local markets and excellent restaurants for eating out.

Turquesa is finished to a high standard with luxury furnishings and the walls are decorated with large pictures of local views painted by the owner. Marble tiled floors run throughout the house and it is suitable for disabled or elderly people.

There is a lovely communal pool, with a separate shallow pool for children and is ideal for families, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay. The historic cities of Cartagena and Murcia are close by. Lots of golf courses within ten minutes' drive.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region

The Costa Calida is Spanish for warm coast with 3000 hours of sunshine per year. The average annual temperature is 17 degrees. The winter is very mild and sunny and the summer is very hot.

The beaches are fantastic, long sandy Mediterranean beaches, little rocky coves and the beaches on the Mar Menor are safe, the water is shallow, tranquil and warm, ideal for paddling and building sandcastles! The area is great for water sports - windsurfing, sailing, pedalos, water skiing, kite surfing, fishing, etc. There are many diving schools, wrecks to discover and colourful fish to see. Great snorkelling.

The area is very good for cycling and walking with many routes available for a day out.

Lots of new golf courses within 20 minutes drive. La Manga Club 7 minutes

For bird watchers at least 63 types of birds near the property. With unobstructed views from the balcony right across the protected Salinas de Marchemelo. A must for bird watchers!

La Manga Del Mar Menor / Playa Paraiso, La Manga Del Mar Menor area

The Mar Menor is a few minutes walk from the front of the house - a salt water lagoon beside the Mediterranean sea. There are numerous beaches with crystal clear shallow waters with a maximum depth of 7 metres. The biggest salt lake in Europe!

Playa Paraiso is a safe sandy beach with 3 beach bars open in the Summer. There are quite a few local restaurants within walking distance of the house and many more to visit in the local harbour at Cabo de Palos and the La Manga Strip.

Cartagena is a Roman City worth a visit and Murcia is a very cultural city.

How to get there

* Fly to Murcia or Alicante Airports - Turquesa is just 20 minutes easy motorway drive (40km)from Murcia or 1.5 hours (128 km) from Alicante.
* Cheap flights available from Easyjet, Ryan Air, BMI Baby, Jet 2, Monarchor FlyBe from most UK airports.
* Car hire available from www.rentspain.com
* There are always local taxis available - fare should be no more than 45 euros.
* Pick up from airport can be arranged.
* Car hire is recommended as there are so many beautiful beaches, coves, cities, lovely restaurants and interesting places to visit.

The kitchen has fully fitted white kitchen units and is tiled in white with black marble worktops. There is a full sized fridge/freezer complete with ice packs, a gas hob and electric oven, microwave and a toaster, kettle and coffee maker. There are table settings for 8 people and a good selection of glasses including plastic items for use by the pool.

Sitting up in bed in the master bedroom you see wonderful sea and island views from a comfortable double bed with rustic oak headboard with decorative iron finials. There are built-in pine wardrobes, a stylish rattan dressing table, mirror and club chair, two rustic oak bedside cabinets, iron bedside lamp and a ceiling light with fan to capture the sea breezes. A hairdryer and linen and towels are provided.

In the second bedroom are two single beds with rustic oak headboards with decorative iron finials. There are built-in pine wardrobes, a rustic oak bedside cabinet and table, an iron bedside lamp and a ceiling light with a fan.
There are double patio doors to a balcony overlooking the pool.

The main bathroom is fully tiled with a beautiful cream and terracotta marble effect, with a full size bath with shower over, toilet, basin and bidet, shaver point and inset sink with marble worktop,

In the downstairs bedroom are two single beds with rustic oak headboards with decorative iron finials. There are built-in pine wardrobes, a rustic oak bedside cabinet and table, an iron bedside lamp and a ceiling light with a fan.

The downstairs shower room fully is tiled with a grey marble effect, with toilet, basin, enclosed shower cubicle, shaver point and extractor fan.

The swimming pool is not heated and is usually only warm enough to swim from June to September.
The caretakers are living nearby to greet you and help with any queries.

Strictly no smoking in the house or garden.
Refundable breakages deposit of 300€ required on booking, to be refunded (subject to satisfactory property inspection at the end of your stay).
Total rent due six weeks before arrival.
The property is suitable for wheelchair users. There is a bedroom and shower room on the ground floor. The only steps are two into the front door.

August 2008 We have had a wonderful week but we wish we'd booked two. We are looking forward to coming back next year. The house is perfect many thanks to Chris and Beryl for providing everything anyone could possibly need. We have never rented more perfect accommodation. What we need now is some advice on what we should do with 564 photos of Flamingos? Dr Mike James and family Nic, Sam, Rebecca and Robbie.

August 2008 Dear Chris and Beryl, Thank you very much for allowing us to stay in your excellent, well equipped house. We had a wonderful holiday and saw lots of the area. The view from the front bedroom across the salinas was great, we even got to see some pink flamingoes! The children loved the pool and it's location great secluded sheltered and safe. July 2008 We had a great time at the house. Gave us the holiday we all needed. View from the front balcony is great especially watching the sun go down. The pool was lovely and the proximity of the house to the beach was ideal. Very calm and warm, ideal for Reece to play.
