About the home

An ideal holiday apartment but with all the facilities and comfort needed for a longer stay. Excellent for families, a great getaway for couples. Easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Very well equipped for up to six persons.

The apartment is located in the north of La Manga del Mar Menor, in a quiet area with beaches on the Mediterrean and the Mar Menor just a short walk away, with easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and yet within easy reach of a wide range of activities, shopping, evening entertainment, golf & culture. The Mar Menor offers an amazing selection of watersports for all ages. There are nature reserves, historic towns, and a number of well-known golf courses locally.

The 4* Luabay Abity Spa Hotel is situated very close to the apartment and provides facilities for those looking for a bit of luxury or a break from self-catering. The hotel's 1500m2 Spa offers a wide variety of treatments including thermo ludic circuit, hydrojet-massage, an active thermal pool and anti-Aging treatments. The hotel's principal restaurant provides Spanish and International food (cooked right before your eyes), and there is also a Japanese Restaurant for a taste of the Far East. (At the moment this hotel closes over the winter months, but other local restaurants remain open all year round.)

In the apartment we have chosen fixtures and fittings to provide a very comfortable holiday home. The lounge area has a double-bed settee which can take two children or 2 small adults, and seats three, plus an additional two-seater settee. We have provided Sky/UK Satellite TV, DVD, and a radio that plays audio CDs and MP3 CDs.

The dining area contains an extending table and six dining chairs. There are additional chairs and a table on the spacious balcony (al-fresco meals with amazing views).

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom has two full-size single beds. We have provided firm mattresses with non-allergenic mattress toppers for extra comfort. A cot and highchair can be provided if required (arranged and paid for locally). There is a small laundry room off the very well equipped kitchen with large sink, drying rack & iron and ironing board, plus washing machine with a 1000 rpm spin speed (new in November 2009). We also provide a picnic box with ice packs to take to the beach, plus beach chairs & umbrella.

The main bedroom has patio doors onto the main balcony and contains a king-size bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables and a built-in wardrobe with additional drawers.

The second bedroom has patio doors to its own south-facing mini-balcony, also with views over the marina, and contains two 3ft single beds, a chest of drawers, bedside table and a built-in wardrobe with additional drawers.

The family bathroom has washbasin, toilet, bidet and full bath with overhead shower. The shower room has a washbasin, toilet, and shower cubicle.

Blankets, pillows, sheets and bath towels are provided, but please bring your own towels for the beach and pool.

Arrangements can be made for high chairs and cots (payable locally) and a selection of welcome packs, together with additional cleaning or laundry if required. There is a local property manager/housekeeper who cares for the apartment and the comfort of its guests. The apartment is non-smoking, and pets are not allowed. The apartment is spacious and accessible by lift. There are ramps to the entrance and to the swimming pool/tennis court, making the accommodation wheelchair friendly. Please note however that the shower is not "flat to the floor" for wheelchair access.

The complex of five widely-spaced apartment blocks has a swimming pool, todders' pool, children's play area and a paddle tennis court onsite. There is an excellent supermarket just next door. And three local restaurants and a bakery just minutes away. A larger supermarket, together with an extensive range of restaurants and bars, is situated at the Marina. There is also a recently completed 4* hotel nearby offering spa facilities and restaurants (closed during the winter months at present).

The Mar Menor is renowned for its water activities, including windsurfing, sailing, scuba-diving and fishing. Golf Veneziola (a 9-hole course) is just 3Km away. The Marina is a 20-minute walk (or 3 min. drive) with a ‘café lifestyle’ and French, Greek, Mexican, English & Spanish bars and restaurants. Children’s dishes readily available. Also from the Marina (depending on the time of year) you can hire a car or pedal bike, organise days out, boat trips and also scuba-dive. A ferry runs from the Marina right onto the beach at San Javier, and the well-known La Manga Golf Club is a 30minute drive away. The nearest water park is at Torrevieja, and well worth the drive.

A five-minute walk will bring you to beaches on both the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, but using a car will give you access to dozens of small beaches all along the Mar Menor Strip, each of which have their own activities, or just "peace and quiet". The local bus runs right along the strip and down to Cartegena, giving you easy and regular access to beaches, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing opportunities.

There is a charge of £55 to cover cleaning, laundry and local Meet & Greet, plus an additional £10 laundry charge for use of the sofabed. There is a local English housekeeper/manager available for queries during your stay. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cheque. Payment can be made by credit card, but an additional fee is charged.

A booking deposit/property guarantee of £100.00 is required at the time of booking. This will reserve the dates you require and will also act as guarantee that the property is left in the same condition as it is found; this will be fully refunded within 10 days providing there is no damage. The Costa Calida region

The Costa Calida (Warm Coast) area is reputed to have one of the most pleasant climates in the world - according to the World Health Organisation. There are so many reasons for coming to this area and many people who come as holiday makers recognize this and eventually return to live here.

The Costa Calida stretches from the Mar Menor south to Almeria - where the Costa del Sol commences.
Being in the southern region of Spain, Murcia offers one of the most pleasant climates in Europe. With mild winters, hot (but not oppressive) summers and an average of 320 sunny days a year.

The average hours of sunshine per day ranges from around 6 hours in winter to a full 12 hours at the height of summer. This compares to the London average of 1 hour in January and February to a maximum of 7 hours in June. Rain on the Costa Calida is rare, especially in the summer months - the total annual rainfall averages 5 to 6 cm (2 to 2 1/2 inches) on the coastal plain, although the inland mountainous areas are slightly wetter.

The La Manga Del Mar Menor / Los Miradores del Puerto area

The La Manga Strip is a strip of land 21 Km long and 300 metres wide which separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor (Small Sea). Along it’s coast on both sides, there are beautiful ‘Blue Flag’ beaches with white sands, ideal for family holidays. Even in the height of the season, they never get ‘packed’ and claustrophobic.

The Mar Menor is the largest lagoon in Europe and has a surface area of 130 sq km and a maximum depth of 8 metres. The crystal clear waters are warm, calm and rich in salts and minerals. In fact the temperature never falls below 18degrees. In certain areas of the Mar Menor therapeutic clays can be found. These are a favourite with the Spanish tourists who cover themselves with the clay and then bake in the hot sun. It is said to be good for skin complaints, rheumatism and arthritis etc.

A number of low-cost airlines fly direct to Murcia (San Javier) airport from Birmingham, Manchester and other UK airports, and the apartment is a 40 minutes drive from the airport. If flying into Alicante, the drive is approximately an hour and a half. The roads are good and the drive is easy. Prices for low-cost airlines change almost hour by hour, so it’s worth checking them out at different times, or contacting your local travel agent to arrange flights.

Car hire is not essential for a relaxing holiday as there are local shopping facilities & restaurants and the beaches are within walking distance. In addition there is a regular local bus which travels down the Strip to Cartegena, giving plenty of opportunities to try different beaches, shopping, entertainment and sightseeing. Depending on the length of your stay, hiring a car can work out more economical than return taxi journeys to the airport, particularly in the summer months when taxi fares are increased. There are a number of car-hire companies located at the airport, plus taxis, although we have found that advance booking of car hire works out at a better price. Try Holiday Autos, Europa Rentacar, Solmar or Centuro and compare prices. Some offer cars at the airport, others will “shuttle-bus” you to their nearest office.

“A great spot in a superb location, with great views of the harbour” We were met promptly on arrival with the keys and shown around the apartment by a very friendly lady who recommended places to eat and where the best beaches were. The apartment was clean, well equipped and suited our needs. We are a family with two young girls accompanied by a friend and her teenage daughter, There was adequate space and plenty of kitchen ware to be able to eat in which we mostly did as we were holidaying on a tight budget. We ate out at Pacqubote which had a very varied menu, prompt service and tasty food. Great beach with inflatables to enjoy at a cost of 5 euro's for as long as you wanted. There were a fare few jellyfish but they were not stinging ones. (this was on the lake side, we never saw any jellyfish on the Med side). We also ate out at a pizza place in the harbour a very short drive away which did the best pizza I have ever had. The swimming pool was ideal giving the girls plenty of swimming practice, it was never busy and offered shade from the sun if needed. In fact by day two Rachel had learnt to swim without armbands and managed to swim all the way across which was at least 25 meters so ideal for doing some lengths. As we had hired a car we ventured further afield but there was really no need as the closest beaches on both the Med side and the salt lake side were as good as any. We all covered ourselves with the therapeutic mud from the salt lake then walked across to the Med side which was nice and quiet for a swim. The supermarket was ideal and just a couple of minutes walk from the apartment. There were plenty of bars to go for a drink all selling ice creams and most selling food. Evenings on the balcony watching the boats go by, drinking and playing cards was just heavenly and made for a very relaxing holiday. We would highly recommend this apartment and will no doubt be using it again ourselves in the future.

“Beautiful apartment - wonderful views of the harbour” What a lovely friendly welcome by Jo - wonderful apartment with beautiful views over the harbour. Lovely to have a supermarket within a very short walk as with the extreme heat you don't want to be walking far with your shopping. Nice Spanish restaurant, again within walking distance, just across the road. Also the Med is just across the road so you can beach or pool very, very easily.

“Lovely apartment, great location, beautiful view.” My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at Los Miradores in July/August 2011. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and the facilities excellent. Proximity to beach, shops etc is great. Only downside is that although the apartment overlooks the Tomas Maestr Marina, with its abundance of restaurants, bars and shops, it is a long 20 min walk to get there! The bus service, however was very reliable.

We just returned last night from La Manga, having had an absolutely wonderful 2 weeks! We found your apartment very comfortable, spacious and well located. I would have no hesitation recommending it to other families looking for an active, fun, yet relaxing holiday. Joanne was most efficient and helpful and this contributed to our enjoyment of the holiday. We are already considering a return trip next summer.... so we may be in touch again!

We got back yesterday from spending the last couple of weeks at your place and I must thank you for our wonderful hassle/stress free holiday. The place was absolutely perfect and my wife and I really enjoyed our holiday without a cross word for the whole period considering the two small children to keep happy too !!. The buses run frequently along the whole strip and the boat from the Marina to St Javier run every couple of hours , so we did not need a car. with 2 different beaches at the doorstep, good size pools for the children and adults, and views across from the apartment . I would certainly recommend this place to all young and old, and hope to be able to go back again next year or sooner if we can get away.

We had a fabulous holiday in Los Miradores. The apartment is great. We had everything we needed for our stay. It was lovely & quiet there. The view over the Marina is great and the apartment is ideally located close to the supermarket & beach, restaurants & bars & yet not too near. We loved the beach & the Mar Menor. Your directions to the Paque Bote were great. We spent several days at the beach there. The girls enjoyed the inflatable slides & water trampoline & paddle boats there. The apartment is lovely & spacious & was very clean. The whole apartment complex is lovely & quiet & the pool was lovely & warm. The whole Mar Menor area is a lovely area, very unspoilt by commercialism. The whole family enjoyed it & had a very relaxing time there. I will definitely consider the apartment for another holiday and will let some of my friends know also.

Great Holiday - We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday made even better by your very clean, modern apartment with wonderful views. The apartment itself was bright, spacious and accommodated my family extremely well. The surrounding area was quiet which was what I wanted but still had a nice little bread and cake shop and a supermarket and then in the evening we would walk to the Marina to eat at around 9pm and watch the beautiful sunsets across the Mar Menor!
