About the home

This luxury air conditioned 1st floor apartment is in a prime position at an exclusive part of the strip with stunning 180 degree front line views over the marina, Med, Mar Menor and mountains beyond.

The marina has many excellent restaurants and bars and from here you can take boat trips, hire boats, go on a diving trip or take the foot ferry across the Mar Menor.

Long stretches of unspoilt beaches and the famous therapeutic mud are only a few hundred metres away, and a great variety of water sports close by.

The apartment is one of only a few apartments for rent in the complex with a double width balcony directly overlooking the marina. We also have full air conditioning, underfloor heating, two double bedrooms with balcony and great views, a fitted kitchen and two bathrooms.

Historic Cartagena is 30 mins away with great shopping, attractions and Roman monuments.

The lounge area has two sofas, a tv and dvd/cd/video player with video inputs for your camcorder or digital camera. A selection of English TV channels are available including BBC World News, there is also a DVD library, books and games. Wi-fi is available in the apartment, bring your laptop to obtain free internet access via the local hotspot.

The dining area has seating for four people with an extending dining table.

Both bedrooms have balconies and great views of the marina.

The property is air conditioned in both bedrooms and lounge, and has underfloor heating to all rooms.

The wide south facing balcony has a patio table and four chairs with views over the marina and the Mar Menor.

It is a relaxing place to sit in tranquil surroundings and watch the boats sail by. We are close to the marina entrance so there is always plenty of activity to watch from the comfort of the balcony.

There is an outdoor pool (about 200 meters away) open 1st March to 31st November, and paddle tennis court. The property is wheelchair accessible and has a lift. Ample free parking is available.

Each apartment accommodates 4 people with one double bed and two singles. For the comfort of future guests the apartment is exclusively for the use of non-smokers and pets are not allowed.

I will need a deposit of £100 to confirm your booking. Balance of payment is due 6 weeks prior to departure together with a refundable key deposit of £100. The key deposit will be returned within 7 days of your departure.

The Costa Calida region

The La Manga Strip has a unique position in Europe, between two Seas, the Mediterranean Sea and the crystal clear waters of the Mar Menor. The apartment is located overlooking the largest marina in the area, near the tip of the strip.

This part of Spain is famous for its salt lakes (salt is a major export). This has a major knock on effect on humidity levels, and as a result the air is much dryer than in other parts of Spain & Europe. The low humidity levels coupled with a mild climate, means the WHO (World Health Organisation) have rated this part of Spain one of the healthiest climates on the planet.

The Mar Menor is an immense lake of warm, tranquil salt water, rich in salts and iodine and noted for its therapeutic properties. The waters are a magnificent natural swimming pool with temperatures maintained by a sun that shines for an average of 320 days each year. The maximum depth of 6.5m makes it an ideal location to enjoy the many water sports available.

The La Manga Del Mar Menor / La Manga Strip area

The two distinct seas, soft breezes, sunny days and significant sporting infrastructures makes La Manga a water sports paradise. No one need travel far to practice their water sport ; sailing, diving, water skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing, jet skiing and most other nautical sports.

Apart from the water sports, La Manga offers a great variety of other activities to suit all tastes such as guided walking tours, horse riding, fishing, pleasure flights, costal hikes and bird watching at the nearby nature reserves. Blue flag beaches and boat trips also make this a favourite place for all the family. There are boat trips from the marina to local islands in both the Med and the Mar Menor. One of the boats (which sails past the apartment) has a glass bottom to view the marine life.

The world famous La Manga Club is 20 minutes drive away with many quality golf courses close by including DeVere Roda Golf, La Serena and Hacienda del Alamo. There are tennis clubs with courts open to the public all year round, plus paddle tennis and squash. In addition there is a roller-skating rink and full size go-kart track. The road which runs through La Manga has been built with a cycle-lane and there’s an absence of hills throughout the strip. Free cycle hire nearby.

The historic cities of Cartagena (30 mins away) and Murcia (60 mins drive) are well worth visiting for the shopping, Roman monuments and sightseeing. Cartagena is full of interesting architecture, has many museums, and an historic marina with tourist trips around the harbour. The shopping in the historic centre is great. Murcia also has a zoo, water park and acquarium.

There are small towns nearby for sightseeing and shopping including Los Belones and Santiago de la Ribera. You can take the foot ferry from the marina to Santiago de la Ribera, the Spanish air display team practices here.

Further afield you can take a scenic tour through the local mountains or visit the flamingos at the San Pedro salt lakes.
You don't need a car to enjoy a holiday here since buses run up and down the strip all day and there are bus services to the local towns such as Los Belones and Cartagena.

Relax and enjoy - in La Manga you can rest, practice sport and also get to know the local history, or participate in the traditional fiestas of the area, the choice is yours.

There are frequent low cost flights to both Murcia's San Javier and Alicante airports from many UK airports. Murcia Airport is a 40 minute drive and Alicante is 90 minutes. Taxis and car hire are available at both airports and airport transfers can be arranged.

It is not necessary to hire a car since we are just a couple of minutes walk from a well stocked supermarket (ideal for self-catering), coffee shops, bakery, pharmacy, several restaurants and bars. The beaches are only a few minutes walk away. Next to us you will find a 5 star luxury spa hotel where you can drop in for a cocktail at the bar, a meal in the panoramic restaurant or a luxury spa treatment.

The marina is an easy 20 minute stroll away (or 3 minute bus ride) with a variety of excellent restaurants and bars. Boat trips and the foot ferry depart from the marina and you can also take diving trips from here or hire boats. If you wish to go sightseeing or shopping in Cartagena or Murcia you can catch a bus from the strip. There is a bus stop a few hundred yards from the apartment and buses run a regular circular route along the strip for only 1 euro. Free cycle hire is available nearby.

“Relaxing place with great views of marina” The apartment has wonderful views over the marina and it was most relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the boats sail by. The apartment had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We very much enjoyed both the Mar Menor and the Med beaches, the Mar Menor being shallow and calm and great for a bit of snorkelling. The local bus was useful for getting around and the local supermarket was very handy for the nights we ate in. We would recommend the ferry trip over to Santiago de la Ribera and the city of Cartagena which was most interesting. We are certainly looking forwards to a return visit.

'Just to let you know our holiday in your apartment was lovely. The apartment was very clean with everything to hand and the pickup and dropoff at the airports very reasonable. We very much enjoyed the proximity of both the Mar Menor and the Meditteranean. The local bus was very much used as was the local supermarket and the trips to the marina were very good together with the ferry trip over to Santiago de la Ribera. We would certainly think about a return visit and recommending friends and family to go. Cheryl was extremely helpful in her help on knowledge of the area etc. Although it was very quiet this we enjoyed.'

'We found sitting on the balcony with a bottle of wine watching the boats coming into and out of the marina very peaceful. The apartment was clean and well cared for and homely. There was a good selection of books and the DVDs were handy for nights in. For self catering the supermarket at the entrance to the resort was convenient and had a good choice. We really enjoyed visiting Cartagena which is a beautiful city. We liked the Mar Menor beach and even tried the mud treatment! All in all a great holiday and we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to our friends.'
