The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The climate is warm and sunny the area boasts 315 days sunshine a year. The Mar Menor is about 5 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. Mar de Cristal is on the Mar Menor, 5 minutes walk from apartment with beach bars, italian restaurant and marina. The Mar Menor is the largest natural pool in the world and a paradise for all types of water sports with good instruction. Mar de Cristal beach is sandy and safe for children. Sailing, kayaking, pedoloes available in high season. The area is great for all sports the famous La Manga Club is only a 10 minute drive with championship golf courses and many other excellent sports facilities, tennis, bowls etc. all with good instruction and Spa Facilities. There is also golf at the following Campoamor, Villamartin, La Finca, Los Rambles, Altorreal, La Marquesea, Fuente Alamo, Mose Trajectum, Torre Pacheco, Greenlands, Roda and La Serena with (driving range). Horse riding in nearby Los Belones (5 minute drive). There are local markets everyday in the area Cabo de Palos the largest on Sunday.
La Manga Del Mar Menor / Mar De Cristal area
Local Amenities of Mar de Cristal all within 10 to 15 minute walk. Beach bars, restaurants one with take away pizza, two supermarkets, one with small bar and internet access. Local Activities, cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horseriding, mountain biking, paragliding, sailing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, wind-surfing, kayaking and go karting The wonderful beaches of the regional park of Calblanque are only a 10 minute drive. A lovely place to spend the day and excellent for walkers, home to storks, flamingos, egrets, peregrine falcons, bee eaters, owls, eagles, foxes and rabbits. Some are seasonal visitors. Los Belones, 5 minutes drive, has many varied excellent restaurants, including Italian, Indian. Cabo De Palos, 15 minute drive, is a charming fishing harbour with superb fish restaurants and a good Sunday market. The walk around the 19th century lighthouse is worth while. Sirerra Minera near La Union environmental park. It also has huge underground mines and open-cast mines as well as remains of old mining construction. La Manga Strip, 15 minutes drive, many restaurants, bars and nightlife. Excellent watersports all with good instruction available. La Manga Club, 10 minutes drive, with excellent sports facilites including championship golf courses and good instruction. Plus Spa facilities. Cartagena, 30 minutes drive, port with boat trips, good shopping, departmental store. Large Hypermarket on outskirts 20 minutes from apartment in large shopping area. Murcia, the capital of the area is about an hour away. Torrevieja, is about an hour, Aquapolis waterpark, large market Friday morning, Habaneras shopping centre Elche, 1 1/4 hours Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Benidorm 2 hours (some people BB for the night) MundoMar marine and exotic animal park, Terra Mitica new adventure park. Easter festivals at Cabo de Palos, Murcia, Cartegena plus smaller ones in many villages
