The Costa Calida region

La Manga Club is situated in the unspoilt south eastern corner of Spain in the region of Murcia. This southern end of the Costa Blanca, known as the Costa Calida, the Warm Coast, has one of the lowest rainfalls in Europe and basks in more than 3000 hours of sunshine each year. The resort offers some of the most superb sport and leisure facilities in Europe suitable for all tastes and ages. Always several degrees warmer than the Mediterranean, the unique Mar Menor is a vast inland sea with safe, shallow waters. Beaches and water sports.

The surrounding area is covered with vineyards. Mar Menor, (Little Sea) is a unique area located on the east coast of Spain, within the region of Murcia just above the city of Cartegena. Few regions have the good fortune to have both a saltwater lake and a Mediterranean shore. The region of Murcia has both and the salt water lake with an area of 170sq.km is known as Mar Menor, the largest salt water lake in Europe. The water here is both warm and very safe for swimming. Murcia, just 40 minutes from La Manga Club, is described as one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the country. The city is some 1200 years old and has many features and museums and excellent shopping. It has the highest temperatures in the region. There is a great deal of Moorish influence in the city, not least of all the impressive city walls. After the reconquest, the 20 mosques in the city were turned into churches. The Cathedral is the most highly prized building in the city. The first foundation stone was laid in 1388 by Bishop Pedrosa. It took four centuries to complete. There are so many different styles and cultures within, including 23 different chapels.

The La Manga Club area

The La Manga Club resort has its own secluded Mediterranean cove, La Cala, located approximately ten minutes by car or shuttle bus from the hotel. There are numerous other beaches on the Mediterranean and Mar Menor coasts. The Mar Menor beaches are particularly popular with families due to the warm, shallow waters. The area is ideal for watersports such as sailing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Children La Manga Club offers numerous children-friendly facilities and plenty of ways to keep the kids entertained, ranging from Junior Tennis Academy courses, swimming pools and crazy golf, to a children's play area at Las Lomas Village (for Las Lomas residents only) and the superbly equipped Mini-Club Fiesta near the Tennis Centre. Restaurants and Entertainment There is a fabulous choice of restaurants and bars within La Manga Club, at the hotel, in Las Lomas and in the central shopping area of Las Sabinas. Cuisine ranges from typical Spanish, Italian, Chinese and Indian.

1. Turn left out of Alicante Airport; follow the signs to Murcia and A7 (main coastal motorway) going south.

2. After approx. 20km on the A7, follow signs to the A37/Ap 7 (slip road on the right) and Torrevieja – there are 2 tollbooths charging approx. €2.85 each (approx). sometimes the sign is A37 and sometimes Ap 7.

3. Continue on A37/Ap 7 then follow directions from no 4 below. Nb. for those flying into Murcia Airport, as you follow the one-way system out of the airport and approach the roundabout, go straight over and then follow the sign for the Ap-7 Cartagena/Alicante. take the Ap-7 Cartagena/Los Alcazares. Continue on the Ap-7 (approx 14 km).

4. Take exit 800 for La Manga MU-312. keep on the MU-312 towards La Manga (approx 13 km). Take exit 8 immediately after the cepsa garage (which is on both sides of the road). Signposted Urbanizacion de Golf/La Manga Campo de Golf. At the roundabout, take the first right and proceed through the lemon groves.

5. After passing through the La Manga entry sign, either:
• Take the next right for Las Lomas and North Course Villas
• Turn to the left and then next left where the security control gate is situated for all other projects. all are clearly signposted.

The journey from Alicante airport to La Manga Club will take approximately one hour ten minutes. From Murcia airport it will take approximately 20 minutes.
