Home description

One of two recently- and beautifully-renovated holiday homes set in an attractive garden with a pool in the village of La Liviniere, halfway between the Mediterranean coast and the medieval city of Carcassonne.

This spacious, welcoming gite has an attractive, modern dining/sitting room, a newly-fitted and fully-equipped kitchen, 3 spacious bedrooms (1 on the ground floor, 2 on the first floor), two shower rooms (the shower in one of which is a hydro-massage type) and 2 separate WCs. The furniture in the living area is contemporary with 2 leather settees and a TV.

La Liviniere is associated with wine-making and if you enjoy wine this is a great area for wine-tastings and buying direct from the producers. The countryside and views over the Montagne Noir and the Pyrenees are lovely. It's also a great base for visiting the beaches, Narbonne, the Canal du Midi, and Carcassonne.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

This part of the Languedoc has a sunny, Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer but the temperature is often tempered by a breeze. Now the 3rd most visited region in France by English people, the Languedoc offers something for everyone. Miles of long, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, vibrant cities such as Narbonne and Montpellier, historical sites such as Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.

La Liviniere area

The local village La Liviniere is just a short walk way - with a bakers, general store, cafe-bar and a post office. The nearest sizeable town is Olonzac - a lively place with restaurants, bars, supermarkets and a great market on a Tuesday morning.

How to get there

By Air: Carcassonne Airport is the nearest to Gite Ivoire and is about 40 minutes drive away - Ryanair fly to Carcassonne from Stanstead, East Midlands, Liverpool and Ireland. You can just as easily use Beziers, Montpellier, Nimes, Perpignan and Toulouse airports - all serviced by low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, Flybe, BMI and EasyJet.

Gite Ivoire is in a village about 10 minutes drive from the town of Olonzac.

The living and dining areas are open plan and are tastefully and contemporarily furnished. Also in the living room is a wood-burning stove making this a cosy place for an out-of-season rental.

Bedroom 1 is a double room on the ground floor, with bedside tables, hanging and storage. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are upstairs: Bedroom 2 has a double bed and Bedroom 3 - 3 single beds. There is a small connecting door between these rooms if you wish to use it. However, both these bedrooms can be accessed by separate staircases.

You can access the internet here using a FREE WiFi connection.

One recent holiday-maker said 'The photos do not do it justice as it's much larger than it looks, as is the pool'.

A cot, high chair and baby-changing table are available at a small extra cost.

Outside there is a private terrace with a barbecue and table and chairs for al fresco dining. The swimming pool is secured and is 4m x 8m; it may be shared with the owners and the residents of the other holiday property here. Sun-loungers are available.

The garden of the property is sizeable and a safe place for children to play.

Bedlinen is available to hire at 7 euros per person per week, please reserve in advance if required.

A 'baby kit' consisting of a high chair, a cot and a baby-changing table is available to hire at the rate of €15 per week, payable direct to the owner.

Taxe de Sejour is payable here from 1st June to 30th September at the rate of €0.50 per night per person over 13 years of age. Payable direct to the owners.

The owner requests a damage deposit of €300, which is refunded to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages.

You have the option to clean the gite yourself at the end of your stay. If you would like the owner to arrange cleaning, the charge is €80.

Conditions

Baby facilities: A 'baby-kit' is available on request consisting of a cot, a high chair and a baby-changing table. There is a small extra charge for the kit of 15 Euros per week, payable direct to the owner.

Winter heating: Is included in the rental cost.

Electric, & water: are all included in the rental cost.

End-of-stay cleaning: You have an option to clean the gite yourself at the end of your holiday. If you would like the owners to arrange the cleaning for you there is a charge of 80 Euros, payable direct to the owners.

Bed linen, bathroom & kitchen towels: Bathroom and kitchen towels are included in the rental cost. Bed linen is available to hire at the cost of 7 euros per person per week, please reserve in advance if required.

Taxe de Sejour: in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It is payable at Gite Ivoire only from 1st June to 30th September at the guide rate of 0.50 Euros per night per person over 13 years of age. The taxe de sejour is payable direct to the owners and the amount may be subject to change without notice.

Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 300 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.

Change over day: Normally Saturday in High and Peak Season but may be flexible at other times - please enquire.

Long weekend stays and mini breaks: Long weekend stays, and Monday to Friday mini breaks are available out of high and very high season according to availability. Please ask us for price and availability.
