The Costa Tropical/Granada region
The Costa Tropical has a tropical micro climate produce by a combination of south orientation of the coast, the nearness of the sea and the chains of mountains which project this coast form any norther influence having war winters 20º and long hot summers aprox. 35º.
Almuñecar is 10 mins drive and offer you: Old castle, bird park, Friday market, wide range of shops, bars and pubs.
The Spanish Peninsular highest mountain is 1 hour drive, The ski resort is open since December until the endo of April.
Nerja, with its famous caves is only 10 minutes drive and has a really busy night live.
LasAlpujarras, 1 hour and a half dirve for keen walkers and to find where the highest village in Europe is.
Salobreña, 1/2 hour dirve. Castle, wide beachs.
Granada, 1 hour drive. Discover a modern city with a lot of history. The Alhambra Palace, The Albayzin area, lots of churchs and streets to be discovered. And of course, bars where enjoy the fabulous "tapas" for a fantastic price.
La Herradura / Pueblo area
Lies on a beautiful bay between the headlands of Cerro Gordo to the wedst and Punta de la Mona to the East on the Costa Tropical. This unknown stretch of the costline of Andalucia just east of the busier Costa del sol.
La Herradura boast some 320 days of sunshine a year and is one of the few places wher you can ski in the morning (75 minutes dirve) and sunbath on the beach in the afternoon. La Herradura does have a godd selections of shops, bars and restaurants, many of them situated either or close to the beach.
You can choose what to do: relaxing on the beach or enjoy with the wide range of watersports that La Herradura offers (diving, windsurfing, sailing, tennis, horse riding, mountain bike, golf, walks...)
Discover Marina del Este, a impressive yacht harbour or go for a walk in Cerro Gordo Natural Park.
How to get there
Fly to Malaga or Granada Airports. Malaga airport is international and has 30 countries flying into it including USA and Canada. Thera are many airport in the UK fly to Malaga including from Ireland and from Scotland (vueling, easy jet, ryanair, Monarch, and traditional airlines)
For airpot not directly flying to Malaga, the best choice is Madrid that is aprox 45 minutes (flying of course) or also in Madrid you can hire a car and discover Ubeda, Baeza, Jaen or by train. Granada airport is smaller but has also low cost airlines flights such as Monarch, ryanair

From Almeria Airport it takes 1.5 hours but you will enjoy the views as you drive close to the sea!
From the airport to La Herradura you can choose different transportation:
TAXI: 24hrs service is available, it is better to contact them in La Herradura (607995257) as is cheaper than airport taxi.
BUS: From Malaga and Granada airport get the bust to the Central Bus Station and there get the bus to La Herradura, it is cheaper but it takes more time to arrive.
CAR: The best if you really want to enjoy and discover the Costa Tropical. There are many "rent a car" that operates in these two airports (avis, europcar)

Further details indoors: There is a utility area off the kitchen with automatic washing machine, electric hot water boiler, ironboard and iron.
The open plan kitchen is equipped with ove, fridge freezer, dishwashing, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and good range of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans,...
Both bedrooms (one with double bed and the other with twin beds) have wardrobes.
There is a bathroom with bath and shower, washbasin, toilet and bidete. Also there is a separate shower room with toilet and washbasin.
Further details outdoors: There is a good range of shops, banks dentist at La Herradura. There is a public swimming pool five minutes drive that only cost a drink! At the same place called Las Terrazas there is a tennis and paddle court.
La Herradura beach is only 5 minutes walk away.
All kind of sport are available
Due to the slpong/cobbled streets surrounding some of the old part of the village, the area where the apartment is may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
